SteamVR support for Oculus, Gore Settings and more Languages
SteamVR support for Oculus
Greately improved SteamVR support for all Oculus devices. This should remove any possible issues Quest users had with controllers on startup.

We recommend to use native Oculus version suggested and official Oculus solutions like Airlink or cable connection, however, if you start the SteamVR, nothing bad will happen.

Virtual Desktop: no launch options are needed anymore — just run SteamVR version. Remove old launch options from Hard Bullet settings! Hand poses do not glitch too, so you may need to set the offsets to defaults.

 • If you choose to launch in SteamVR mode, game will start your SteamVR and Oculus will work inside.
 • If you choose Oculus mode, game will just start with native Oculus SDK without SteamVR.
 • If you have SteamVR already running, game will autostart SteamVR version.
Notice: In SteamVR mode the Menu button is already used by Steam, so to open Pause Menu press both Y and B buttons at the same time.
Gore Settings:
Now you can tune your brutal experience and choose what gore to show:
 • Dismemberment.
 • Bullet holes, cuts and punches results.
 • Blood when shooting and punching enemies.
Languages added
During last weeks a few new localizations were added, now Hard Bullet contains 23 languages. Let's welcome:
 • Arabic
 • Italian
 • Thai
 • Vietnamese
Grey/Black screen for OpenVR explained
So after hours of research we came up with quite simple explanation that won't help those users who get this glitch, but will at least close this question.

New physics Hard Bullet was made on a newer Unity 2020 version and uses Single Pass Instanced rendering.

This particular model and Unity render we use prevent the game to work on OpenVR devices that run older GPUs. Basically every GPU made before 2015 does not support the hardware-based features we use in game.
You need DirectX 11.3 and Shader Model 5.1
So, as said in the minimal system requirements on Steam, you need at least GTX 1060 to run the latest Hard Bullet builds.

Old Hard Bullet in beta tab uses older shader model so it will run on any videocard starting from GTX 770.

So what are we going to do with this knowledge?
As you may know, we are quite a small team and are focused on polishing the content we already have and improving game mechanics. We won't include support of older GPUs in our to-do list, but will keep this in mind and if we find an option to change Shader models or DirectX without lots of extra work, we'll do this. No promises though.

Sorry for inconvenience, OldHB is still there and hope you'll be able to update your GPU (at least up to GTX1060) to get all advantages of those beautiful shaders we use.
Quick Roadmap
Want to share what's coming in the future updates and what are we working on right now. There will be a Devlog post as we have more cool thing to show:
Improved Gore
New coplex gore system that will include more nasty visuals and also bring optimization to the puppet system. This will allow us to add new models and outfits to enemies much faster.
AI update and new behaviours
Right now doing some trainings to our AI, so new clever enemies will:

 • Jump over and off cliffs
 • Hide and shoot from covers
 • Partol and react to noises
