Patch 16.5 - New and Improved Achievements

Hi all,

Today's update overhauls how achievements work, removing and improving many of the existing ones as well as including new ones. One example is that previously with the "Reach Player Level 50", you had to go to stats to unlock it, which isn't practical to new players. This update allows you to constantly unlock achievements such as these as well as others while playing, removing the need to follow such specific unlock conditions.

I've also removed a few of the spammy, easy to get achievements such as one practically awarding you for pressing play and replaced them with more fulfilling ones you have to work towards!

In total this update brings:
  • 10 new achievements
  • 16 improved achievements


And the best part is for all these overhauled achievements that previously existed, they'll automatically unlock upon launch! I hope to add a few more next update but for now that is all.

Combat Update | Patch #16

Hi all,

This update includes 2 brand new abilities for your disposal against the mindless asteroids or the sentient battleships. Burst through their defences with rapid fire, dodge their attacks in slow motion, or just collect the plenty new achievements!

[h2]Progressive Achievements[/h2]
After a lot of tinkering with the Steamworks API and achievement system, I've finally managed to add progressive stat achievements. This means that I can include long-term achievements such as "Win 10 games in total" with ease and all you have to do is play and not mess with any save system! I'm still learning the best ways to make use of this but for now, I've added 11 new achievements for completionists, giving you more to do than ever.

[h2]New Ability: Fast Reflex[/h2]
Available in: Classic, Most Wanted
Introducing Fast Reflex, an ability which slows down time for 2 seconds, allowing you to dodge incoming asteroids with no problems. Everything else slows down, while you remain faster than the enemies, with a low cooldown of 15s!

[h2]New Ability: Heavy Barrel[/h2]
Available in: Classic, Most Wanted
Also with this update comes Heavy Barrel, an ability which doubles your firing speed for 2 seconds, giving you the opportunity to destroy enemies in quick succession. The trade off is that this ability has a cooldown of 45s, so use it only when you need it.

[h2]Regarding Search and Destroy[/h2]
After playing some Search and Destroy for a while, as it has been neglected since I created it, I've come to realise that honestly, its boring as hell compared to the other options, with the only reason to play it for achievements. Therefore, this update removes the mode and achievements that come with it. The gamemode may be added back in the future, or replaced with a new idea, but for now it will remain empty.

Patch 15.5 - New Mechanic, Normal Mode, Boss Grace Period

Hi all,

It's been a long 4 months since the last productive patch but I deliver some good news, Patch 15.5! This patch brings back Normal mode for Classic, with (hopefully) all boss fight bugs that existed, fixed! I also bring a QoL feature to make boss fights more bearable and a new mechanic! Hope you enjoy.

[h2]Boss Spawn Protection[/h2]
The most requested feature I've had is to fix the volcanic deity practically spawning on you and instantly ruining your run. With this update, I've finally done some tweaks to make this issue, no longer an issue. From now on, you will get a 1.5s invincibility protection at the start of a boss fight and a higher chance for the boss to spawn further away. There may be issues caused by this but if there are, I'll sort them out. I hope this makes the game more enjoyable!

[h2]Visibility Beacon[/h2]
Available in: Classic, Most Wanted, Search and Destroy
Your ship has now been equipped with a new upgrade! Featuring the Beacon, no longer needing to linger in the dark, you can take on asteroids or enemies with full awareness! Press "N" to activate the new feature, but be warned, you'll lose 60% speed when turned on. Is the trade off worth it late game?

Regarding lack of updates

Hi all,

I apologise for the lack of updates to my game. I realise that last update I disabled the main normal mode which means that certain achievements related to the boss battles will not be unlockable. Again, this was down to a game-breaking glitch that was discovered, related to the steam backend which I'll need to investigate.

Unfortunately there'll be no fixes for a while. Since November my health has declined and is all over the place with issues and such. Therefore there'll be no updates until I'm recovered. Until then, I'll try and figure out at least what could be causing such glitches and push out a patch once I'm ready.

Patch 15.41 - Bug Fixes + Discord Rich Presence

Hi all,

This update introduces Discord rich presence, just like the one I implemented for Steam. Although it's pretty much useless for a small indie game and doesn't offer any benefits, it's mainly implemented for my own practice and learning of development skills.

This allows your friends to see what mode you are playing as well as even being able to see your wallet amount in the Locker or how much you're making in Money Clicker!



This update also temporarily disables Normal mode of the base asteroid mode until further notice. Despite using the exact same code as Mayhem, and working for so long with no issues, there's an issue that prevents progression past Level 2. During testing on the Unity project, I can progress past Level 2 with no problems. But on Steam, there's an issue that may be down to the Steam Client backend, which will require further investigating. Until then, Mayhem is still optional and all other gamemodes will progress as normal.
