Battle Bands Patch Notes #9

The 9th Patch is focused on stability, balance and fixes as we start preparing for Season 2!
We are incredibly grateful for all of the feedback and look forward to hearing more from all of you about how we can continue to improve Battle Bands!

[h3]New Cosmetics![/h3]
  • "Pointed" Hairstyle added to the Store pool.
  • "Soft Sizzle" Outfit added to the Store pool.

[h2]Balance Changes[/h2]
[h3]Cards & Gear[/h3]
  • "Calming Bassline" effect now lasts for 2 completed (rather than played) song sections and has +2 capacity.
  • "Quick Lick" has "Well Timed" upgrade replacing "With Feeling"
  • "Quick Retry" renamed to "Rapid Retry" and draws 1 fewer card on play.
  • "Shake It Off" draws on discard no longer includes self.
  • "Invigorating Beat" +1 hype.
  • "Crashing Cymbal" costs -1 Energy.
  • "Groovin' With The Beat" (Drums) gives 1 less hype and +1 Protection, "Too Fast" upgrade replaced with "Disruptive"
  • "Groovin' With The Beat" (Guitar) gives 1 less hype and +1 Protection. "Well Timed" upgrade added.
  • "Metronome" now gives hype every 9 performance cards played instead of 10.
  • "Gold Leaf Stratocaster" costs $15 less.
  • Band hype is now limited so it can never go below the negative of the hype goal.
  • Crew is now capped at 50 per side as to follow fire codes of the different venues.

  • Scrap Titan: Tour Level 1 -1 card draw. Tour Level 5 +1 card draw. Tour level 7 +1 energy, +1 "Scrapyard Dog" Tour Level 8 +1 Max hand size, ,+1 energy, +1 "Heavy Smash"
  • Riff Rats: Tour Level 2 -1 card draw. Tour Level 7 -1 "Family"
  • Caper Crew: Tour Level 2 +1 Max hand size and Card draw. Tour Level 4 +1 energy.
  • Bardbarians: Tour Level 3 +1 card draw. Tour Level 4 +1 Energy. Tour Level 5 +1 Card draw and max hand size. Tour level 6 +1 card draw.
  • Jackal Brothers: Tour Level 4 -1 "Spooky Sifflet" & "Varmint Shuffle" Tour Level 5 -1 "Varmint Shuffle" -1 Energy.
  • Goo Fighters: Tour Level 4 +1 Energy. Tour Level 5 +1 Draw count. Tour Level 6 +1 Draw count & Energy. Tour Level 8 +1 "Kerplunk"
  • Skidmarks: Tour Level 6 -1 Energy Tour Level 8 -1 Energy.


[h2]Bugs[/h2]
  • "Jump Up And Down" now works as intended when used multiple turns in a row.
  • "Well Practiced Chorus" bot weight adjusted slightly to make it more likely the bots play it later in a turn.
  • "Well Thrown Sticks" bot weights adjusted to take both opponent protection and number of crew into account.
  • "Wreck and Repeat" & "Crowd Surf" bot weight adjusted to take how much hype they would generate into account.
  • "Mimicking Hook" no longer creates a doubled Song Section when ended with "Confusing Intimidation"
  • Issue when removing all of a deck replacing it with starter deck fixed so now a deck can not be smaller than 1 card.
  • Randomizing character on the customization screen now properly randomizes instrument colors.
  • Gear properly disappears when sacrificed at a moment.
  • Final Boss defeat screen no longer shows -morale as it is redundant.
  • Going Second in Royale now gives double protection from previous values.

Battle Bands Patch Notes #8

The 8th Patch is focused on updating the version of Unreal Engine Battle Bands is using in an effort to combat crashes. Beyond the engine shift there are bug fixes and balance changes and we couldn't help but add a couple cool instruments to the store.
Thank you so much for the feedback; it is integral to Battle Bands continued development into the best game it can be!

[h3]New Engine Version[/h3]
We have switched Battle Bands from Unreal version 4.26 to version 4.27 in the hopes of fixing some crash issues and further increase the efficiency of Battle Bands use of the engine.

[h3]New Cosmetics![/h3]
Added "Bodacious Zee" Guitar to Store Pool. Added "Wicked Lows" Bass to Store Pool.

[h2]Balance Changes[/h2]
[h3]Cards & Gear[/h3]
  • "Cymbal of Speed" needs 1 fewer Quick played to activate and give energy.
  • "Crowd Surf" and "Well Practiced Chorus" weights shifted so bots play them at better times.
  • "Rousing Melody" give +2 hype.
  • "Leadership Riff" costs 1 more energy and gives +2 Hype.
  • "Killer Jam" -3 Hype and -1 energy cost.
  • "Well Prepared Interlude" Gives +1 Hype.
  • "Groovin With The Beat" (Bass) gives -1 hype and +1 Protection.
  • "Quick Bridge" is now tier 1 instead of tier 2.
  • "Interpretive Interlude" give +1 protection on complete.


[h2]Bugs[/h2]
[h3]General[/h3]
  • "Rev Up" (Scrap Titan) no longer gets upgrades.
  • Moments now show player votes as they happen.
  • "Cymbal Technician" now works as intended.
  • "Legendary Instructor" now works as intended.
  • Instrument Icon Displays correctly on Royale outcome screen.
  • Join game through steam no longer causes issues.
    We also added a "Gotta Go, Thanks!" Chat option to the band setup screen so more polite in game goodbyes are available.

[h3]Cosmetic[/h3]
  • "Two Cut Inspiration" Guitar now has a secondary color choice.
  • "Wicked Lows" Bass now has a secondary color choice.
  • "Pot Head" Mask now displays correctly in the Store view.
  • "Thorns N' Roses" Mask now displays correctly in the Store view.

Battle Bands Hotfix!!

We respond to some awesome feedback on our latest patch by fixing some stuff and making some cards a bit more useful!

[h2]Quick Fixes:[/h2]
  • "Awesome Cymbal Tricks" no longer exhausts.
  • Bot card priority for "Blistering Finale" and "Starting Taps" updated.
  • "Play Hardest" now gives +3 Hype and +1 Capacity instead of +2 and +3.
  • "Dramatic Break" now gives -1 "Snare Hit" Modifies Snare hits with +1 more hype.
  • "Cymbal Technician" gives -1 "Snare Hit"
  • "Crashing Cymbal" gives -1 "Snare Hit"
  • "Expecting Taps" Upgrade "Better" replaced with "Burning"
  • "Open Ended Interlude" +1 capacity, now gives +1 energy to random bandmate on complete, has "Burning" upgrade.
  • "Coin Ops" Tour Level 2 +1 Energy.
  • Fixed bug in which upgrades selected at the beginning of a match did not apply modifications.
  • Fixed bug in which royale bot bands upgrades did not show modifications.
  • Improved bot behavior for when to sit on energy and wait for others to play and when to start passing energy out when all the bots own cards are bad.
  • "Patchy" mask had its color mask fixed.

The 7th patch is here and it's a big one! This patch includes big balance changes, an updated storefront , and an upgrade to the bots.
We heard your feedback, looked at the data and are continuing to try and make Battle Bands better!

[h3]Quality of Life Changes[/h3]
Store Update
The Store now holds three "Featured Items" that rotate on a 3 day schedule to offer more awesome things to wear, drive, and play!



Bot Override Command
Bots can now be asked to overwrite the current Song Section - useful for those crazy X length song sections or any song section that just doesn't seem worth completing.



Bot Improvements
The Bots will now be smarter about checking in with the rest of the team before playing bummers or quicks. This makes them generally smarter and more willing to share energy when they only have weaker cards to play.

More Card Visibility in Royale
Upgraded cards are now visible in your deck while on the Royale bracket screen.

  • "Common Sting" gives 1 more hype, "With Feeling" upgrade replaced with "Burning"
  • "Lick That Is Stuck In Your Head" puts "Well Forgotten Lick" directly into hand on discard instead of into graveyard.
  • "Personal Riff" tier lowered from 3 to 2.
  • "Hot Hook" gives 2 more hype on complete.
  • "Rolling Bridge" Gives 1 protection on complete, "Intense" upgrade replaced with "Defensive"
  • "Heavy" Upgrade gives +6 hype instead of +4 hype now.
Making it Rain...a lot less:
  • "Pretty Motif" - "Happy" upgrade replaced with "Insulting"
  • "Up Beat" - "Happy" upgrade replaced with "With Feeling"
  • "Jazzy Motif" - "Happy" upgrade replaced with "Patiently"
  • "Loud Beat" - "Happy" upgrade replaced with "Extra"
  • "Sick Beat" - "Happy" upgrade replaced with "Heavy"

Snare Hit Harder:
  • "Snare Hit" no longer gives energy on play.
  • "Snare Hit" now gains +1 Hype on play so it gets stronger for every play during a match.
  • "Drum Roll" now gains hype per performance cards in song section on sweep and makes band draw 1 on play. No longer effected by number of "Snare Hits" in song section.
  • "Soft Sticks" Applies to all cards in hand instead of 'All' "Snare Hits"
  • "Awesome Cymbal Tricks" no longer modifies Snare hits, now Exhausts 1 card from each Opponent and adds 1 "Star Struck" bummer to one opponents draw pile. Exhausts.
  • "Expecting Taps" now gives +1 hype.
  • "Focus On Cymbalism" now gives +1 hype.
  • "Open Ended Interlude" now gives +2 hype on complete.
  • "Cymbal Practice" now makes all "Snare Hit" gain +1 hype per play on play.
  • "Snare Hit" card art updated.



[h2]Bugs[/h2]
  • Fixed an issue where reconnecting to a match removed the 'Leave Game" option from the menu.
  • Fixed an issue when reconnecting during picking cards led to the moment breaking.
  • Fixed an issue that had upgrades not showing correctly after loading a saved tour.
  • Fixed an issue where upgrades would not show up correctly on the Royale Vendor Remove card screen.
  • Fixed an issue in which cards linked in match chat would not show upgrades.
  • Fixed an issue in which loading would not properly display last saved preset.
  • Van skin no longer resets to default after a tour.
  • Van skin no longer resets to default on game relaunch.
  • "Grooving With The Beat" now bolts correctly.
  • "Cymbal Of Speed" gear now updates correctly as quicks are played.
  • "Little Mallets" now will appear during runs.
  • Players no longer receive "Void Drums" multiple times.
  • Improved Royale server stability
