It has been a long time coming and the gates are open. The Hellsweeper VR Demo will be available over the course of this year's Steamnext Fest, from 19th June 2023 to 26th June.

And if you missed our previous announcement, Hellsweeper VR is officially launching on 21st September 2023 on Steam, Meta Quest 2 and PSVR2!

[h3]The Hellsweeper VR Demo will have full support for the following devices:[/h3]

• Oculus Rift
  
• Oculus Rift 2
  
• Meta Quest 2 via Air Link
  
• Valve Index
  
• HTC Vive (Needs to be selected at the start of the game)
  
• HP Reverb G2 (Needs to be selected at the start of the game)
  
• If you are attempting the Hellsweeper VR Demo on any other devices, do let us know your experience.

[h3]Before you begin, here are some instructions to access the Demo.[/h3]

1. Ensure you have downloaded and installed Steam VR.
   
2. If you have played the Hellsweeper VR Alpha Demo back in 2021, please delete your save files. You can find your old Alpha Save files in this directory: C:\[USER]\username\AppData\LocalLow\MixedRealms\HellsweeperVR.
   If you have done this, or you did not play the Alpha Demo, you can move to the next step.
   

[h3]Meta Quest 2 Users[/h3]

1. If you are a Meta Quest 2 user, you can connect to your computer via Air Link. To do this, boot up your desktop Meta App and connect your device in the app.
   
2. From your Meta Quest 2, hit your Meta Quest 2 Virtual Desktop and click "Play" as shown on the Hellsweeper VR Demo Steam page in your library.
   
3. The Hellsweeper VR Demo should begin automatically.
   

[h3]Steam Virtual Desktop App Users[/h3]

1. Install the Hellsweeper VR Demo.
   
2. Start up Steam VR from your Steam app.
   
3. Boot up Steam Virtual Desktop from your headset.
   
4. Select the “Game” tab and click Hellsweeper VR Demo.
   

When you are ready to test your mettle in Hell's depths, click here to begin your challenge.

[h3]DEVELOPERS PLAY Livestream[/h3]
If you would like to catch us playing Hellsweeper VR, we will be doing a Steamfest Livestream on 19th June, 10pm EST to 12:15pm EST. We'll be doing a live chat while we take on demons in hell, so if you have any questions feel free to drop them!

Hey Hellsweepers!

As promised in our recent Devlog, the gates to Hell will be opening temporarily from the 19th June to 26th June 2023 for a public DEMO of HellsweeperVR during Steam Next Fest.

That’s not all -- Time to answer the most burning question of all: when is Hellsweeper VR going to be released?!



Hellsweeper VR will officially LAUNCH on 21 September 2023! You can also start pre-ordering Hellsweeper on Steam now and wishlist it on Meta Quest 2 and PS VR 2!

[h3]Your Feedback Matters to Us[/h3]

We would like to thank everyone who generously shared their feedback during our 2021 Alpha Demo. Your suggestions have been instrumental in guiding our development efforts, allowing us to make significant strides in shaping the game since then.

As we inch closer to our launch date, your hands-on experience will help us fine tune what is needed to bring Hellsweeper VR to its peak! We can't wait for everyone to get in and start their Hellsweeping trial.

[h3]What will be in the Demo and what's the difference between this new demo and the Alpha demo back in 2021?[/h3]

Let’s start with the coolest part -- the Hellhound! No longer will you traverse through Hell alone; your animal companion can now battle alongside you. He’s a good boy, so be sure to give him lots of pats!

The Hellsweeper VR Steamfest Demo also introduces a massive visual overhaul. Its core gameplay mechanic remains, allowing you wall-run, somersault and front flip while wielding your trusty sword, pistol or fire magic.



Although these skills are just but a small portion of what’s going to be in the full game upon launch, each of them comes with an expanded library of traits which will allow you to experiment with different styles of combat.



We introduced the Blessings and Traits system in our previous devlog. The Demo will include this, giving you boons and blessings that will assist you in your run. These blessings are random even in the demo, so you are encouraged to play it more than once! Get the most out of it :P



[h3]There will be tons of new features that you can toy with in the Demo! We won't reveal all of them, so let us know what you find when you hop in![/h3]

You can also now Pre-order Hellsweeper VR! If you do, you will receive exclusive in game items for your avatar to give them a more personalized look.

Hey Hellsweepers!

The questions on our Discord and Twitter haven't escaped us: "When's the next demo?" For those eager for another VR roguelike hell-ride post our 2021 alpha, or those who missed the chance, stay tuned – good news is coming!

But before that, we need to dive into some key strategies. Last devlog covered the Hellhound, your trusty ally. But survival in Hellsweeper VR requires more than just companionship. At the core of every strategic build is choosing the right Blessings and Traits!

Blessings are rare boons that you can pick up along the way. You get to choose one out of the choices presented to you, and these blessings will stay with you until the end of the run, or when you die



An example: Spectral Infusing. Summoning a weapon will grant it a randomly attached element, and your weapon will have additional effects in combat.



You can have multiple blessings, but pick them wisely!

Traits are buffs that can be applied to abilities and weapons that are in your arsenal. Think skills/weapons on steroids.

Traits can also be changed up each run, so you can try something new every time!

Here’s a fun one: Triple Lasers. You can summon up to three lasers at once: exactly what it says on the label.

This upcoming PCVR demo will offer an array of new content, including the thrilling addition of our Hellhound. We’re working really hard to put the final pieces together, and we’re really excited to get this out to you soon and hear your feedback!

Hello Hellsweepers!

In our Flailing Mace Devlog last year, we dropped the first hint about one of the exciting mechanics that we've been working on. Finally, after many rounds of fine-tuning (and training), we're ready to present to you the Hellhound - loyal, dangerous and adorable all at once.

The Hellhound is more than just a pet. Conjuring this special companion is one of the many skills that you can learn and master as a Hellsweeper. Like other skills, the Hellhound is also upgradable through traits. On its own, it will automatically defend you against nearby enemies.



You can play fetch...



And give it good pats on the head!



The Hellhound's favorite snacks are elemental balls: Like your weapons, the Hellhound can be enhanced with magic. Based on the elemental snack that it's given, it can perform various attacks. For example, giving him a fireball will let him set enemies ablaze.
