Development Update: Expanding Endings and Ongoing Enhancements

Hello everyone,

It's been a long and busy week(end) for our team as we've pushed to not only address existing bugs but also to enrich the game's depth with additional end-game sequences. We're excited to share that the game now features over 10 endings, considering all variations, with around 5 significantly distinct ones, even introducing a few new scenes to the game. Integrating these with the animations and conditions while also revisiting some persistent issues from previous builds has been quite the challenge but equally rewarding.
[h2]Current Focus and Upcoming Challenges[/h2]
  • Unfortunately, we haven't yet resolved the issue with old saves from Act 2, but it's high on our priority list, and we aim to address it soon.
  • Our next major undertaking is the localization of the game, which will allow more players around the globe to enjoy our story in their native language.
  • Rest assured, we will continue to polish the game and squash bugs as you and we discover them.

[h2]Ongoing Improvements and Feedback[/h2]
  • Although missing voiceovers and some residual "Tips" have not been our primary focus, we are steadily cleaning these up.
  • As always, we've tested the latest build extensively, yet we acknowledge that some issues may still slip through.

Act 3 Release: The Culmination of Your Choices!

We're thrilled to announce that after an additional week of diligent work and adjustments, Act 3 is now live! This extra time was devoted to refining the gameplay to ensure the best experience for you. Despite thorough testing, some issues might only become apparent with broader play. We are fully committed to promptly addressing any such issues, and we encourage you to reach out via our Steam discussions or on Discord for quicker assistance.



[h2]Experience the Climax of Act 2[/h2]

As you re-engage with the game, prepare for the dramatic conclusion of Act 2. Depending on your earlier choices, you'll encounter four major variations, one of which includes three sub-variations and a hidden achievement that will be revealed later, reflecting the consequences of your decisions.

Act 3 serves as an epilogue, weaving together the strands of your decisions into one of eight unique endings. Each ending offers a distinct perspective and leaves behind clues for you to unravel the final mysteries.

Crafting these varied conclusions was a formidable challenge, as we endeavored to surprise and fulfill the diverse expectations of our players. We are immensely proud of our work and excited for you to explore these outcomes.

Development Update: Progress and Enhancements in Act 2

Hello everyone, Djordje (MegaOptimus) here,

Firstly, I want to express our gratitude for your patience and support. It’s been a huge learning curve developing our first game, and admittedly, the launch came with more challenges than anticipated. Despite our rigorous testing, the stress and crunch around the launch with the game's scale led to unforeseen issues. Each bug we fixed seemed to produce three new ones, particularly as we approached release. We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience this caused, and thank you for sticking with us.

This update prioritized addressing critical issues in Act 2, but we also fixed a lot in Act 1. Here's a summary of the key updates:
  • Progression Blocks: Fixed a lot of conditions in Act 2 that prevented players from advancing through tasks and clues.
  • Fast Travel: Fixed issue of traveling between locations in Act 2. You can also use the 'M' key for fast travel.
  • Dialogue System UI: Improved by moving the 'Continue' button above the option menus to prevent accidentally clicking the first option.
  • Menu Navigation: Adjusted the scroll function in the dialogue system to handle multiple options more effectively, especially if the UI is scaled up.
  • Animations: Improved and added numerous animations, although some are still pending.
  • Audio Mixing: Addressed a lot of issues with audio mixing.
  • Missing lines: Fixed a lot of missing or wrong lines, but some still occur. Some were even missed during the recording, but our awesome actors will handle it soon!
  • Intermezzo Scenes: Added and corrected lines within these segments.


As much as we wanted to fix it all, we also had to push this fix with the critical bug fixes. That said, there are still some areas we're working on:
  • Missing Animations: Some animations broke and are currently disabled while we work on fixes.
  • Fast Travel Map Icon: Currently not available, but the 'M' key functionality is intact.
  • Joypad Controls: We couldn't disable Joypad controls as they are linked with mouse inputs. For all of you who have some weird controllers that hinder gameplay, you'll have to disable them or wait for the next update, where we'll make a setting for mouse-exclusive controls.
  • Dialogue Consistency: We're aware of missing or incorrect dialogue lines and are committed to resolving these.
  • Journal UI: Needs further refinement and cleanup.


As we prepare for Act 3's release on May 7th, our focus remains on enhancing the game's stability and playability. We're dedicated to continuous improvements and eagerly await your feedback, which can be shared on our Discord channel.

Day 1 Development Update - Critical bugs

Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback. We're constantly working to enhance your experience, but we focused on the most frustrating issues for this first update so you can have it ASAP. Here’s a quick rundown for our busy players:

[h2]Settings Adjustments[/h2]
  • Audio Settings: We've set all default audio levels to 100%. The sliders have been improved for better control. For those affected by previous issues, please manually adjust your settings to 100% as they are saved locally.
  • UI Scaling: We changed the default Global UI size to 1080 from 1800, aligning closer to typical screen widths.

[h2]Dialogue Fixes:[/h2]
  • Streamer Mode: We fixed the variable that blocked progression beyond Act 1 for streamers who received and played the game before launch – it's not just a variable change but a complete removal of the problem.
  • Journal Updates: Swapped the positions of Emp and Rec, as that was also a mistake.

[h2]Scene Corrections:[/h2]
  • Corridor Scene: Improvements around the apartment door and interaction hitbox near the tax office (trying to keep it spoiler-free!)
  • Cauldron Area: Restored people scattered around and added a walk-to animation to the barista at the first entrance. We also fixed the dialogue with the barista.

[h3]Other Fixes:[/h3]
  • Language Option: Removed temporarily as it's not ready for release.

[h3]Ongoing Investigations:[/h3]
  • Location Change Issues in Act 2: We are still figuring out the issue of locations not being available for travel. Once we identify the solution, we will deploy a quick fix for everyone stuck in there. (sorry for that; only Cooper was supposed to be stuck in there)

[h3]Future Focus:[/h3]
  • Dialogue Breaking: Our main priority is resolving any instances where dialogues break or cannot be continued.
  • Dialogue Repetition: We will also address dialogue loops as a secondary priority.


Your reports are incredibly helpful, so please continue to share your experiences on our Discord or Steam discussions. We’re committed to addressing each issue.

For those looking for a smoother experience, we recommend waiting another two weeks. By then, we expect to have resolved most of the current issues, allowing you to enjoy the full game more comfortably.

Greetings detectives,
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Act 1 & 2 of Let Bions Be Bygones is now officially available on Steam! The dramatic Act 3 finale will be unleashed to all owners on May 7th as a free update.

Our multi-year development journey alongside MicroProse has been 100% powered by your support, feedback and incredible energy. Now the fun begins, so we wanted to provide some key information to get you locked and loaded.


[h2]AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER[/h2]
  • As you play through Act 1 and Act 2, rest assured that your progress and save files are safe, and this gives you a perfect chance to explore alternative paths and hidden details within the game prior to Act 3 arriving on May 7th. We appreciate your understanding and enthusiasm as we fine-tune the final chapter.
  • This is an adventure game with a LOT of secrets to uncover, alternate endings and total choice-driven gameplay. You can expect a typical playtime of approximately 8 hours, with a fully voiced cast of colorful [and often nefarious] characters.
  • To gain all of the Steam achievements you will need to play through multiple times to uncover the ‘full’ truth of Cooper’s story. Engaging your best ‘detective brain’ will reveal major plot and character reveals on each playthrough. [Our advice is to change your personalities each playthrough, eg: the good / bad / the scientific or a mix of them all.
  • Playing as the hardboiled detective John Cooper’, guide his unique choices, follow up leads and ultimately reach one of 8 different endings.




[h2]AROUND THE CORNER[/h2]
  • Launch week is both a celebration and also the exciting start of some highly anticipated and requested additional features.
  • We will be integrating Simplified Chinese localisation to the game very soon after launch.
  • Following this, we will be adding Japanese, German, French, Italian and Spanish language options as well.
  • Controller support is also planned for post-launch as an update, which we’re excited to deliver for more ways to play the way you want.
  • Rejoice! SteamDeck support is also on the way, which we think is the perfect way to experience the game in a cozy, immersive atmosphere.




Packing over 8000+ dialogue lines and 800+ choices means this game packs a hefty punch in terms of unique paths and combinations. Whilst every endeavour has been made to ensure a stable experience, due to the complex nature of the myriad decisions you can make in the game, there might be some issues that arise. Please let us know if you encounter any logic issues or progress blockers and we’ll put every ounce of energy to address each and every issue.
