Help me test the SAVE UPDATE (beta available NOW)
[p]To all those who have requested a quicksave feature over the years:
SHUT UP I HAVE LISTENED!
The 1.1.0 update will add mid-mission saves, including quicksaving and quickloading. If you want to try it out and provide valuable feedback, I would really appreciate it!
To opt in, right-click Filcher in your Steam Library, click 'Properties...', then 'Betas', and select the beta branch.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Post your feedback here on Steam, via email (address can be found on johanhjarpe.com), or via the Filcher channel in the MythoLogic Interactive Discord server.
How does the save system work?
There is a Save/Load menu for each mission, reachable from the pause menu, the mission-select screen and the game-over screen. Each level has 15 save slots including a quicksave slot. By default, the Quicksave key is F5 and Quickload is F9.[/p][p]
[/p][p]How does this affect mission ranks and achievements?
I didn't want the hassle of adding new Steam achievements (Iron Man? Iron Woman? Iron Thief?). I feel that the current set is nice and clean.[/p][p]Instead, I made it so you get a 10 point bonus for completing a mission without using the save system (saving doesn't forfeit the bonus, but loading does). The highest rank, 'Ghost', still requires the full score - now 120 points instead of the old 110.[/p][p]This means that all ranks up to and including Master are achievable by save scumming, but the Ghost rank requires you to play the old way - without reloading. [/p][p]
☝️ Still only for absolute stealth freaks[/p][p]
What else is in the 1.1.0 update?
The second most common complaint has also been addressed: doors no longer auto-close. Several bugs have been fixed, and a few texts have been tweaked. Nothing major. Full patch notes will come with the full release.
When is 1.1.0 coming out for realsies?
I don't know yet. Testing, like development, is slow since I don't have a lot of free time these days. But with your help, I can squash any remaining bugs and have the update ready all the quicker!
I heard you were working on a 'Filcher Gold' edition?
I was. It was gonna be called 'Filcher: 40 Carat Edition'. It was gonna include the save system, two new missions and improved controller support. The missions had some really cool stuff in them.[/p][p]But ultimately, it was too much work to finish, and the missions were too disconnected from the story and would have slowed things down. So I decided to scrap the project and release the save system and other bits and bobs as a free update instead. You're welcome!
Thanks. Is this a Q&A now?
Apparently? I wasn't planning to use this format. These things happen sometimes. You start talking to imaginary people.
Tell me about it.
Do you mean 'Tell me about it' as in 'Yeah, I know, me too', or 'Tell me about it' as in 'That's interesting, tell me more'?
I thought I was the one asking questions?
Hello?
Oh, he left. How rude.
Well, this is awkward.
In that case, I guess I'll just wish you all a very Happy New Year.
Because I don't think he's- Hello? No, I didn't think so.
Er, bye then. Bye. [/p]
