Hexarchy Beta 0.674

[h3]Misc[/h3]
  • AI significantly improved, especially at Hard and Harder difficulties
  • Many performance improvements
  • Friendly Mode option for custom multiplayer games - when enabled, human players cannot attack other human players unless they are in your territory
  • In multiplayer, human players will be more evenly spaced out
  • Turn execution order is now determined by score with lowest score player going first. This is always displayed left to right at top of screen
  • In multiplayer, while playing events, current execution phase shows at top of screen - e.g. "Ranged Attacks", "Attacks", "Moves"
  • Camera panning to events slowed down and using an easing function
  • Added city Pillage confirmation dialog
  • Upgraded to Unity 2022
  • Native Apple Silicon builds
  • When moving a citizen, invalid slots no longer show up
  • Bot emotes disabled
  • Can press Enter after entering a multiplayer game code to join

  • Fixed an issue where the map could go blurry while in a multiplayer lobby while in a single-player game

  • Fixed issues where pillaged cities could still be targeted with Charge
  • Fixed buggy shuffle effect that occur when playing Fuel Forage
  • Fixed issue where Great Library could result in a player getting multiple copies of a card
  • Fixed issue where Berserker would cause UI to say a unit still needs orders when it doesn't
  • Fixed issues where typing a multiplayer game code would scroll the map
  • Fixed an issue where civ units would show up in the wrong place on the tech tree
  • Fixed an issue were bots could sometimes build Wonders that were already built
  • Fixed issue where Wonders built by multiple players would only show up once on the tech tree
  • Fixed an issue where Found Capital could be played on a hex with an enemy unit
  • Fixed issue where wrong cost might be highlighted on Jeweler card

We are excited to announce the latest Hexarchy playtest is now live! So now is your chance to jump into some more action packed games of hexarchy, either solo or with friends! If your friends are busy this week we have you covered as we will now be scheduling some multiplayer sessions dates and times below. We look forward to seeing some of you there!

If you have participated in the previous playtests you will be automatically granted access to this playtest - but if you're new to Hexarchy, simply head over to our store page and hit the request access button to gain access. The playtest also includes the game's multiplayer, so bring your friends along too.

Hexarchy Beta Update 0.624

[h3]Misc[/h3]
  • Added a Redraw Hand option at the start of your turn. You can do this for free until you've spent any of your resources.
  • Bot Emote improvements
  • Added Bot Emote "Report" button in case they say something you think we should be made aware of
  • The number of potential capital positions reduced on maps with Far and Normal player separation
  • Hills and mountains slightly reduced in map generation


[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an error that occurred when joining a Single Player game while in a Multiplayer lobby
  • Fixed an issue causing some events to get stuck
  • Fixed an issue where the city food and luxury bars would sometimes show / not show at the wrong times
  • Fixed an issue where application focus changes could cause game start to fail when loading single player
  • Fixed an issue where the end turn sound would sometimes go off at the wrong times
  • Fixed an issue where cards wouldn't be highlighted even though they could be played

Hexarchy Beta 0.621 and Next Playtest

[h3]New Game Mode - Weekly Campaign[/h3]
Progress through a campaign consisting of 3-5 levels that changes each week. Each level will have 1-3 objectives similar to a daily challenge with generally each level being progressively longer. In between levels you can spend the victory points you've earned to buy powerful one-time use Campaign Cards.

Compete for position on the leaderboard like with the Daily Challenge.


[h3]Campaign Cards[/h3]
  • Population Boom - Add 3 population to a city
  • Fuel Forage - Gather 4 firewood from a forest hex in your territory or near it
  • Mass Conscription - Draw 3 unit cards from your deck or discard pile that cost half price
  • Inferno - Raze an enemy city that you can see
  • Pioneering Spirit - Found a city on any available hex you can see
  • Marketing Sweep - Get all resources on the market
  • Pathfinder - Grant permanent map vision for a large area around a hex
  • Mass Mobilization - Mobilize all of your units
  • Onslaught - Give all of your units charge for this turn
  • Assassinate - Kill an enemy unit
  • Glorious Project - Make a Wonder in your hand cost 1 gold



[h3]New Wonders[/h3]
  • Statue of Zeus - All military units start mobilized
  • Parthenon - Can view the top 3 cards in your deck
  • Djenne Mosque - +2 Victory Points for each Holy Site you control
  • Hagia Sophia - Immediately claims all unclaimed territory within 3 hexes
  • Himeji Castle - Your first card drawn is always a military unit
  • Great Library - Grants you any technology that has been researched by over a third of the civilizations in the game



[h3]New Buildings[/h3]
  • University - Grants 3 science per turn
  • Market - +5 gold and +3 gold for every citizen working the city hex
  • Monastery - Produces culture and significantly reduces cost of stealing nearby hexes



[h3]New Abilities[/h3]
  • Annex - Buy a neighboring hex with gold
  • Forced March - Damages unit for increased movement this turn and Charge
  • Scorched Earth - Makes a unit immediately pillage an enemy hex after moving onto it. Lasts 2 turns
  • Volley - Gives a ranged unit +1 range for 2 turns
  • Invest - Spend 6 gold to immediately get 3 hammers and 6 additional hammers next turn. Usable once per turn
  • Mass Produce - This card and the next card played go to the top of your deck
  • Craftsmanship - Produce 1 culture for every improvement or building within 2 hexes



[h3]New Promotions[/h3]
  • Holy Warrior - Unit automatically captures a hex it's on and produces 2 culture for the nearest city
  • General - Adds 33% strength to all units on this hex and neighboring hexes

  • Education

  • Industrialism (Economic)

[h3]Balance Changes[/h3]
  • Wonder points changed to 4 and 6 instead of 5 and 7
  • Pyramids - Automatically collects special resources from its hex and neighboring hexes
  • Temple of Diana - Reduces culture required for border growth
  • Chichen Itza - Removes gold maintenance cost for all cities within 3 hexes
  • Shield Wall Ability - Moved to Advanced Tactics tech
  • Courthouse Building - Moved to Theology. Now completely removes gold maintenance cost
  • Combat Medicine Ability - Replaces Healing Ritual and moved to Secularism civic
  • Units with the Garrison promotion now exert zone of control



[h3]Experimental Bot Emotes (work in progress)[/h3]
  • AI players will now comment on events that occur in the game
  • Currently single-player only
  • Can be disabled in menu



[h3]UI and other Changes[/h3]
  • Title screen menus reworked
  • Tech tree panel reworked
  • Card manipulation hotkeys - Z draws a card, X destroys the card you're holding, C saves the card you're holding
  • Can navigate to old challenge leaderboards (currently only works for 1 previous leaderboard)
  • Capture and pillage events now immediately play for all players in multiplayer



[h3]New Music Tracks[/h3]
  • 4 new tracks by Landon Walter



[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed most of the bugs created by the new content (but surely not all!)

Hexarchy Playtest now live! - Until the 15th

We are excited to announce that Hexarchy will be featured in Tacticon from May 11th - May 15th. In honour of this awesome event, we will be running a playtest from now through to the end of the Tacticon festival on May 15th!

We hope you enjoy the latest playtest, and all the other amazing games featured alongside Hexarchy in the Tacticon festival!
