V5.0 Update progress status

Hi everyone..

I just wanted to give an update on the status of the upcoming V5.0 update. It should be ready for release early next week and is currently in a test phase. Below is a list of new content, changes and item/feature balancing.

Have a wonderful day

New Map

Although the map has the same look in terms of graphics and textures, there are some notable changes.

1) A completely new layout.
2) Ground textures now have coded logic to identify what ores can be extracted in certain locations.
Players will likely want to build small outpost bases where there mineral extractors are placed.
3) No more aluminum node, aluminum is now extracted with the mineral extractor.
4) Stone boulders no longer drop any ores, only stone. All ores are now extracted via the mineral extractor.
5) New cliff meshes added.
6) New bald cypress trees added to the swamp.
7) Addition of small villages (replaced the military camps) There are now 3 villages on the map and each contain 3 to 4 tech blueprints. I have also added some loot items randomly spawned in the buildings.
8) Increased the fog on map.

New Content

The Mineral Extractor

Below is a list of changes and additions to the extractor.

1) Can acquire Aluminum, Copper and Cobalt ore only from mineral extractors in specific Locations identified on the map. Destroy a surface boulder to know what ores will be extracted in that location.
2) Crafting recipe changed to no longer include copper and aluminum.
3) Can now run on biofuel also. Early game, you will need the mineral extractor before you have an oil extractor.
4) In non ore extraction zones, it will extract only coal and iron fragments.
5) Now has a toggle button to extract only stone.

New Items and placeables

1) Biofuel... Can be crafted on the workbench using perished food. Useful to power up the mineral extractor early game.
2) Cobalt Ore... Cobalt can be extracted in specific map locations identified on the map. It can be converted into cobalt ingots.
3) Cobalt Ingot... smelted from cobalt ore on the forge. It is used in various crafting recipes.
4) Cobalt Shelf... Stores cobalt ingots.
5) Chest Rack... This rack will allow players to stack storage containers.
6) Food Prep Table... Foods such as the stew mix can be crafted here.
7) Wind Turbine... Costly and produces only half the power of Solar Panels but will generate day and night at a steady pace.
8) Wooden Roof Corner

Changes to the Bed

I have added the ability to add a spawn toggle to beds. In the event that you have more than 1, you can now identify the bed you wish to spawn at if you die.

Changes and Balancing

CHANGED - Small Stones smelted on forge now only give Iron Fragments. This is the primary way to forge Iron Ingots. All other ores are now extracted via the mineral extractor.
CHANGED - Reduced height of foliage in player start/spawn locations to that no foliage clips through foundations.
CHANGED - Can now Alt Right mouse click items out of storage chests into player inventories.
CHANGED - Can now Alt Right mouse click items out of Mineral Extractors into player inventories.
CHANGED - Vambies no longer drop Kevlar.
CHANGED - Kelvar is now a craftable item. 3 x Cloth, 3 x Plastic, 10 Plant Fiber.
CHANGED - Tech BPs now automatically get read and the tech is learned, no more needing to place the book in a tech slot.

CHANGED - Complete rebalancing of all food item stats.

CHANGED - Storage Container mesh changed

CHANGED - Fridge now reads ON/OFF instead of Power ON/OFF. It was a bit confusing to understand if it meant press to power on or if it was actually powered on.
CHANGED - Solar panel max output raised from 25 to 40.
CHANGED - Glass panes added to windows.

CHANGED - Inner wall construction section frame textures changed to look better.

CHANGED - Windows now require glass to build, recipe changed.
CHANGED - Circular Saw recipe now requires 2 Cobalt Ingots
CHANGED - Oil Extractor recipe now requires 8 Cobalt Ingots
CHANGED - Solar Panel recipe now requires 4 Cobalt Ingots
CHANGED - Control Panel recipe now requires 2 Cobalt Ingots
CHANGED - Electrical Parts recipe now requires 1 Cobalt Ingot
CHANGED - Field of View changed from 80 to 100 degrees.
CHANGED - Adjusted weapon positions because of field of view change.
CHANGED - All roof sections now require clay to build.

Bug Fixes

BUGFIX - Crafting Leg Armor would auto equip in the Pants slot and Pants would auto equip in the Leg Armor slot.
BUGFIX - When loading a game with a large flask of dirty water in a chest, the water would turn to clean.
BUGFIX - When food was cooking, stones were melting.... If you would drag those items in your inventory and wait for the completion of the cook or smelt without releasing the drag, you would end up with the cooked/smelted item and able to drop the item in your inventory. This would result in dupliacte items.
BUGFIX - Shooting arrow rotation adjusted. Arrows would land and hit their targets slightly to the right of where players would aim.
BUGFIX - If you press E to pick up a log and immediately click harvest after, the log goes into your hand and firewood and sticks hit the floor. The same thing happens with Watermelons, but that's all I tested so far.
BUGFIX - Pressing escape if the map was open would not close the map.

V4.3 Hotfix

Hi everyone,

So I finally figured out what was going on with the fridge. It seems that depending on your windows culture (language) integers would sometimes have commas, spaces or periods.

Example: Internal fridge ID is 1500 but in the french culture for example, it would read 1,500. This was resulting in the fridge ID not matching and causing an error.

I am so very sorry for this, I sort of feel stupid that I did not track this down faster. It never occurred to me to change my windows language to test this.

Best regards

V4.2 Hotfix

V4.2 Hotfix

Hi Everyone,

Some have been experiencing issues with food missing in fridges. I did find a few bugs that should fix this issue. You may however need to delete and remake your fridges if you still have issues after updating.

Please let me know if you still have problems.

Kind Regards

V4.1 Update

Hi everyone,

I have added 2 more supported languages, 1 change and 1 bug fix.

ADDED - Greek and Czech languages added
CHANGE - The inability to adjust foliage below medium will be briefly be rolled back to better accommodate players as I fine tune a solution with foliage and base clipping.
BUGFIX - Alt clicking large flasks into containers would change dirty water to clean.

Also please note..

With the harsher winters now, many were wondering how to acquire water. It is actually easier in the winter, just simply look down at the snow outdoors and fill the flask like you would with water in lakes.

Have a great day

Update V4.0

Hi Everyone,

This V4.0 update introduces Localization (see below for languages supported), some tweaks to the winter season to enhance the survival challenge, some new content, bug fixes, general changes & balancing.

No restart will be required, see below for the complete list of changes and additions.

Please report any bugs to the bug report section here on Steam.

Have a wonderful day and stay safe!

Localization:
Below is a list of added languages to the game. I will be adding even more languages as time goes by. Players can change the language culture top left of the Main Menu UI.

French
Italian
German
Spanish (Spain)
Finnish
Portuguese (Brazil)
Russian
Swedish
Turkish
Korean
Simplified Chinese

Winter Changes:
The following changes were implemented to the winter season to enhance survival difficulty and add some realism.

1) Animal spawns reduced in winter. Plan for your protein wisely!

2) Water will now freeze in the winter months, locking out the ability to fish.

3) When water sources are frozen in winter, water can be obtained by adding snow to your flask and boiling- same as you would for dirty lake/stream water. Simply look at the ground where there is snow to pick it up in your flasks. Keep in mind that as the temperature shifts it is possible for the lakes to freeze before the snow flies, so having some full water basins as an emergency water source is useful!

4) Plants in the plant bed will now die if below 0 degrees. The warmer indoor temperatures from forges, stoves and coal heaters will allow plant bed plants to grow indoors.

5) Added snow footstep sounds in the winter on snow.

6) Added random cold snaps and blizzards in the winter season. These will only last a short duration (3 to 6 minutes) in January and February but may be impossible to survive without being indoors.

Temperature and heat changes to the player character:
I have made changes to how heat in bases are handled.

1) COAL HEATER - Added a new way to heat your base(s). Coal can be obtained with the new Mineral Extractor and is a great source of fuel.

2) Some alterations to how forges, stoves and coal heaters heat interiors. If you are within range of one of these heat sources within a base while the world temperature is less than 23 degrees C, your base temperature will be adjusted to 23C, which does not include clothing currently equipped (which will also add to your temperature reading). If you are in range of one of the above heat sources but either not in your base or in a base that is not sealed, they will increase heat by 5 degrees.

3) Reduced the speed in which the body temperature adjusts to the world temp to prevent wide/sporadic temperature swings.

Some Other New Content:

ADDED - Coal, obtained by the mineral extractor.
ADDED - The Mineral Extractor. Runs on oil and does not require power. The extractor randomly extracts only stone and coal in this current build of the game but plans to have it extract other things are in the works.
ADDED - Circular Sawbench. Runs on Oil and does not require power. This sawbench is an upgrade to the regular sawbench. Players can place 8 logs in a log stand attached to the sawbench and each log gives 4 planks instead of just 2.

Changes and Balancing:

CHANGED - Birds no longer give meat.
CHANGED - If holding logs you can no longer jump.
CHANGED - Added more movement to water in lakes and rivers.
CHANGED - Rope max stack is now 25. Up from 15 previously.
CHANGED - Reduced Winter Jacket heat from 20 to 10.
CHANGED - Reduced Snow Pants heat from 15 to 10.
CHANGED - Snow Pants recipe now requires 20 plant fiber and 12 feathers, needed cloth previously.
CHANGED - I was capping battery storage increase at 3 per second. This was resulting in a large number of solar panels and batteries not being useful. I have now changed the math to something more logical. The more available income of power, the faster batteries storage fills up.
CHANGED - Less Rain/Snow
CHANGED - Reduced sized of firewood in backpacks. I found it hard to carry more than 1-2 at time.
CHANGED- Reduced weight of plastic from 2 to 1 pounds per unit.
CHANGED - Reduced weight of sticks from 0.5 to 0.3 pounds per unit.
CHANGED - Reduced weight of arrows from 0.5 to 0.4 pounds per unit.
CHANGED - Added filter buttons to the placeables tab.

Bug Fixes:

FIX - Lower resolution UI issues fixed.
FIX - Could jump while crouched.
FIX - Pressing escape while sleeping would result in the player not being able to wake up.
FIX - Right clicking on food to bring up the eat option and dragging said item to another container while still holding down the right click would allow you to eat the item even if moved. Player would eat and also get the item in the other container, kind of like a duplication bug.
FIX - On game load if it was snowing, water would fill in the basin.
FIX - Water Basin would sometimes fill when raining if under a roof.
FIX - fixed a bug where sometimes there would be unlimited water in the water basin.
FIX - Could not repair the shelter with planks and hammer.
FIX - Could not snap ramps to foundations if the foundations were built very high.
