Prologue Secret Features not Visible at 1st sight

Hello, everyone!
I read through your reviews and feedback on other platforms.
So far, I see there are the following issues that we will see how to fix:
- Unbreakable chests & walls
- Issues with Chinese localization
- Run progression balance
- No Build interconnection between artifacts, spells, level-ups
- Basic spell too weak? (Just nerfed it because nobody was using Special Spells...)
- No Effect combos like fire+poison=explosion (That is a brand new layer of meta...)
- Gravity Zone is bad

[h2]SECRET FEATURE 2: 1st Difficulty
- Enemies evolved -[/h2]
Usual mobs on the 0 Difficult are dumb. If you want more clever enemy AI, choose difficulty #1.
Mob Thunder Spirit will learn to shoot in XY axis and summon clones, like his Elite version in Diff #0.
Also~ You could only find elites on Diff #1.


[h2]SECRET FEATURE 3: Meta Unlocks
- Take those spells with you -[/h2]
When for the 1st time you unlock items from Artifact Smelter, Weapon Smith, or Spell Warlock, you can take items to the run. It is done so you can test the thing you unlock right away!

What is An Amazing Wizard?

For us, it is a passion project we worked on for four years in our free time after daily jobs.
For you, it is a side-scroller where you hit very different monsters by casting spells in their faces : )

To be more precise, An Amazing Wizard is a fast-paced metroidvania-like 2D hand-drawn pixel art game where you Create your own Spells to fight enemies. in this FREE Prologue demo you could:
  • Fight using 60 Spells and a dozen melee weapons
  • Enchant with Spells and Weapons 100 special effect
  • Collect 120 Artifacts
  • Level up to choose from 100 upgrades in different rarities
  • Merge spells up to 4 times to set an order of effects
What is Spell Merging? How does it work?

By MERGING spells, you set rules for the trigger and order. It is a bit like in Bio Prototype or Magicraft, but with the catch:
[h3]Order: Spells activate simultaneously with the 1st spell, One after another, or in groups[/h3]

[h3]Here is an example of SIMULTANEOUS + GROUP Merge:[/h3]
BEFORE
  • Icicle shoots few projectiles in rapid progression
  • Fireball is strong and ignites enemies
  • Friendly Fire orbits around you
MERGE
  1. Friendly Fire into Fireball >> Friendly Fire orbits around Fireball
  2. Merged spell into Icicle >> Fireball with Friendly Fire shoots together with Icicle projectile


[h3]Trigger: Spells are activated according to the Main/Sacrifice spell type: on hit, on cast, during the active phase[/h3]
[h3]Tornado-type Spells vs other types:[/h3]
  • Zone-type spells will cast several Tornados in different directions
  • Bomb-type will cast a few Tornados on hit / destruction
  • Projectile-type will cast Tornados upon launch
What is the size of the content in Prologue?
  • Play as wizards of 5 elements
  • Experience the Ancient Desert and The Hell with 2 difficulties
  • Fight mobs, mini-bosses, and epic world lords
  • A couple of dozen unique enemies stand before you and victory

The demo access has been closed, but we will soon release the free Prologue!

[h3]Dear Wizards,[/h3]

The demo in its current state is very outdated and may give a bad impression of the game. Therefore, we have decided to temporarily close access to it. We will rework the demo before bringing it back live.

[h3]However, the free Prologue will be released on 27 September![/h3]

The Prologue version will provide a much better experience than the current demo, closer to reflecting the actual game feel, with fewer bugs and many QOL features added.

Here are some sample features of Prologue compared to the Demo version:
  • [Systems] Added Spells Merging system - you will now be able to combine any spells together.
  • [Systems] Added Mana System - spells now require mana to use to avoid braindead spamming them. It was a mandatory change after adding the Spells Merging.
  • [Systems] Added 13 Steam Achievements.
  • [Systems] Reworked Meta Progression - in the demo you was forced to do unlock most of the meta progression in order to finish it's whole content and we didn't like such approach of simple stats upgrades. It was also causing the "balance nightmare" problem. That's why it got reworked (but it's gonna be changed again in the main version).
  • [Biomes] Changed available worlds from the Hell and Ice Land to The Hell and Ancient Desert - desert world is much cooler than the ice one!
  • [Bosses] Replaced temporary dragons with real bosses!
  • [Items] Added 30~ new Spells, Artifacts and Magic Weapons.
  • [Controllers] Fixed all bugs related to controllers.
  • [UI] Reworked Inventory and few other UI windows.
  • [QOL] Greatly improved visibility of all spells and effects.
  • [QOL] Added special sound and short time slow when taking damage.
  • [QOL] Added special effect when on low health.
  • [Tutorial] Shortened tutorial dialogues - nobody likes reading too much

In the last 2 weeks we were mainly working on integration with GOG, improving summons AI, adding new enemy and another QOL changes.

  • [Platforms] Added GOG as supported platform!
  • [Enemies] Added new enemy named Rotten Nightmare.
  • [Enemies] Improved summons and charmed enemies AI. They now search for their next target immediately after killing current one. Additionally support enemies are now able to target the player (this time on purpose).
  • [Spells] Added new spell named Phoenix Fury.
  • [Trap Rooms] Healing spells and artifacts are no longer working inside Trap Rooms.
  • [QOL] Special Spells Slots are now grayed out in Inventory when any other tab than "Spells" is selected.
  • [QOL] Weapon Slot is now grayed out in Inventory when any other tab than "Magic Weapons" is selected.
  • [Main Menu] Added link to the Discord in the Main Menu.

  • [Spells Merging] Reworked calculating success chance when merging spells. Now there is a higher success chance when creating weaker spells and lower success chance when creating stronger spells.
  • [Visibility] Darkened the Hell and Ice Land levels.
  • [Spells] Improved Wind Wall spell sprite (it's now pixelated).
  • [Spells] Fixed casting directions of the Double Ice Wave spell projectiles.
  • [Balance] Lowered number of projectiles fired by every Shotgun-type spell to 3-4. Shotgun spells were greatly outperforming other spell types when merging them with other spells.
  • [Balance] Increased attack speed reduction of Slime Gloves artifact (30% => 40%) and lowered number of extra projectiles fired by it (8-11 => 4-7).
  • [Balance] Increased attack speed reduction of Slime's Split Perk and lowered number of extra projectiles fired by it.


[h2]βš™οΈ Fixed:[/h2]
  • [Enemies] Fixed a bug where Taurus had wrong animation when feared or confused in the second phase.
  • [Enemies] Fixed a bug where spells like Fire Wall or Wind Wall were not doing damage if the enemy was not moving.
  • [Enemies] Fixed a bug where summon's name was displayed on the player's death screen instead of their summoner.
  • [Decorations] Fixed height of all decorations so some of them will no longer float above the ground.
  • [Performance] Improved performance of Slime Gloves and Neptune's Water Ball artifacts.
