Multiplayer is now available!


[h3]Hey everyone![/h3]

I had some spare time recently and decided to upload a proper build of RTCW multiplayer right here on Steam!

Uploaded build features: -All ioRTCW features. Widescreen support, HQ sounds, etc.
-Proper Steam Pathing. MP build is able to find original game files with no issues.
-Omnibot integration. To play with bots, create your server and add bots through "Options" in-game menu.
-Local and Online play. You should be able to join most of the existing servers too(though most of them are barely populated). Or you can host your own. Dont forget to forward your ports or use local network emulators like GameRanger to allow your friends to join in.

This build doesnt include any HD content, to keep 100% compatibility with existing servers, since most of them are sv_pure 1.

So,overall it is a pretty barebones build of vanilla multiplayer based on ioRTCW source port.

I might work a little bit more on it later, but for now it is what it is.

!Original RTCW must be installed in order to play MP! (Its the same requirement as for coop and sp)

RealRTCW 4.0 Update

[h3]Hello RTCW community! What's up?[/h3]

Today marks the 15th Anniversary of original RTCW release on Steam. And on this day we decided to unleash the new massive update for RealRTCW.

The main focus of RealRTCW 4.0 - is polishing, adding QOL features and fixing bugs. Where is it coming from?

3.0 versions showed their lack of stability when it comes to handling big addons like "The Victors" or "Enemy Territory: Single Player" - crashes, fps drops, overall instability.

With that in mind I decided to sit down and take a closer look at my work and see if I can optimize it to the max. So, what's new in 4.0?

[h3]New HUD, Improved Menus navigation[/h3]
A new highly customizable HUD made by William_Faure is definitely a gem along 4.0 changes.

Health/Armor values can be displayed with bars/digits/both. Stamina bar, diary notifications, ammo and weapon iconcs can be removed entirely and separately!

In addition to the new HUD - I reorganized all menus to make them easier to navigate and change needed options. A lot of previously missing options were added too!


[h3]New Enemy Types[/h3]
Exclusive console enemies - Occult Priests and X-Shepherds are making their entrance in RealRTCW 4.0.

Massive thanks to the Yoshik, Hellbaron, William_Faure and Eugeny for making it possible!

In addition to that Yoshik also provided a fantastic German Shepherd model - so prepare to meet those in the game too! New enemies are optional and can be turned off/on separately through the menu.


[h3]Rewards System for finding Secrets[/h3]
Yet another part of missing console content is now available on PC.

Now, finding the secret areas is not entirely pointless. Because you will recieve specific set of rewards for finding ALL secrets on the specific level.

This includes weapons, ammo, armor, health and inventory items!

Rewards system is optional and can be turned off if you prefer classic PC experience.


[h3]Further weapons visuals improvements[/h3]
In RealRTCW 4.0 I decided to finalize all of my High Definition weapon models efforts.

All animations were revised and improved with many minor improvements and collision fixes.
A few animations were remade from scratch. Hands pose on all weapons was remade from total zero.

And some weapons like PPSH, TT33, Mosin and Snooper received new models.

[h3]New pickup items models[/h3]
99% of the pickup items models were replaced with new High Quality ones.

This includes food, ammo pouches and boxes and inventory items.


[h3]Weapon Arsenal Types[/h3]
You can now switch between three types of arsenal:
  1. Classic - features only stock RTCW arsenal.
  2. RealRTCW - features stock guns + all RealRTCW weapons. Default value.
  3. RealRTCW+ET - adds Nade Launcher, Gas Grenade, Airstrike and Browning MG.

[h3]AI Reinforcements[/h3]
Wanna spice it up with increased amount of enemies? Go ahead and try new "Additional enemies" option. You can set it to "more" or "even more" enemies values.

[h3]Expanded modding possibilities[/h3]
In RealRTCW 4.0 I decided to make modding more accessible for the casual players.
Let's say, you don't like the balance. Maybe StG44 is too strong? Or lopers are too tough for your taste?

With the introduction of .weap and .aidefaults files - you can easily change weapon parameters and AI attributes by simply editing text files! Before it involved source code.

Take a peak into z_zzrealrtcw_scripts.pk3 and see by yourself! .pk3 can be opened with any .zip archiver.

In addition to that AI attributes like accuracy, health, reaction time, etc. are now randomized in certain range, depening on the difficulty level. So every walkthrough will be unique in a way. Ranges can be defined in .aidefaults as well.


[h3]New languages available! Improved localization system[/h3]
In addition to the English and Russian versions - French and Ukrainian translations are now available!

All translations were made with the usage of improved key-value based system, which allows translators to easily translate the game by simply editing text files! All files what you need to localize are now located in z_realrtcw_localization.pk3

If you wanna translate RealRTCW to your language - go ahead and contact me if you need any help. Once you finished - we could possibly upload it to the Steam!

[h3]Steam Rich Presence[/h3]
Your friends on Steam will now see what level and on what difficulty you are playing.
Addons support is included!


[h3]Important bug fixes[/h3]

RealRTCW 4.0 fixed a whole heap of long-present bugs.
Just take a look at the list:
  • OpenAL lipsync improved. No more NPCs with chaotically flapping mounths.
  • A few compiler warnings fixed.
  • Prevent firing flamethrower and tesla in noclip or when leaning or when underwater.
  • Akimbo Colt muzzleflash is now working properly.
  • Wrong angle on deathcam fixed.
  • Stamina depletion rate is now independent from the max fps value.
  • Added clip check for the scoped weapons to prevent reloading with full clip.
  • Phantom weapon icons bug fixed. This allowed me to merge ETSP weapons into the main game.
  • Fixed health and armor bars getting out of their limits during overheal.
  • Fix low quality of the UI and levelshots on opengl1 renderer.
  • giveinventory script command now properly affects holdable items.
  • Added missing subtitles on tram and sfm levels.
  • Fixed very specific Dam crash.
  • Fixed a lot of signal 11 crashes. This one was an experience destroyer for many of ya.


[h3]New Addon available - Axis Vengeance[/h3]

A few months ago Kane_Peterson released a new single-player campaign called Axis Vengeance.

It allows you to see a story from another perspective by playing as a German soldier. You can check it out on Steam Workshop.

The Victors - taken down. For now.



[h3]Hello everyone![/h3]
I have quite unexpected and sad news today.

The long awaited Victors addon which was released not so long ago is currently hidden from Steam Workshop.

The Victors featured a couple of weapon models from Forgotten Hope 2 mod for Battlefield 2. And as it turned out it was done without permission of original authors.

Forgotten Hope 2 team warned us, and we listened. Victors addon is currently taken down from ModDB and Steam Workshop. RealRTCW version of the mod will never come back to ModDB - development of no steam version was taken over by Wolfmap.ru, and Victors will be released on their customized vanilla engine. Make sure to follow their progress on Moddb page.

As for the Steam version it will eventually come back in the same form with replaced weapon models. But I have no ETA for now, since I never planned to replace those models in the first place.

Victors release. Steam library pathing improvements.

[h2]Victors Release[/h2]
Victors is a massive RTCW modification,that has been in development for more than 15 years!
It came through major engine swaps during its development. This was a main reason for its release delay.
But this year it ended up being ported to RealRTCW by me and Eugeny (author of upcoming Cursed Sands port).



So what is Victors is all about?
It is dedicated to the Soviet Intelligence agent - Nikolai Kuznetsov, who was also a leader of infamous partisan squad named "Victors". This is where addon name came from.
You can expect a story without occult and sci-fi elements. Pure Eastern Front World War 2 action.

Victors offers unique set of 15 playable levels in beautiful and realistic Eastern Europe environments. Due to its setting, Victors also features unique weapon arsenal, which includes PPS43, PPSH41, SVT40, Walther P38 and many more! All weapons have their own revamped animations, sounds and models.



Overall it is an outstanding work of Wolfmap.ru community.

I joined the dev team in Summer 2021. My main input was porting and polishing Victors for RealRTCW.

Victors are available in Steam Workshop right now.

[h2]More Dialog's addons released[/h2]
Recently Yoshik (author of Vendetta Dilogy) adapted 3 maps by very talented russian mapper Dialog.

This inlcudes: Steinvillage Station, Citadel and Asylum.

All of them are available on Steam Workshop right now.

[h2]Steam Library pathing improvements[/h2]
Thanks for the donations you made through Supporter Packs, I was able to hire a very talented C programmer, who actually greatly improved Steam libraries pathing.

You no longer need to have Steam,RTCW and RealRTCW on specific disk.

You can install it anywhere. Mod will pinpoint needed files in any scenario.
Same fix was applied to RealRTCWCoop. No more pak0.pk3 error, no more manual files copying.

[h2]Plans for 2022[/h2]
This was a crazy year for RTCW mod community and for me personally. RealRTCW came a long way since its initial 2016 release and Steam 2020 re-release. 2021 was a year of constant updates, fixes and improvements, massive addons releases. Not to mention amazing 20th anniversary event with OG RTCW devs.

I'm planning to take it slower in the upcoming year. Updates will not be as frequent as they were in 2021. But they are certainly gonna be bigger. RealRTCW 3.4? Or maybe RealRTCW 4.0? Who knows.

Also do not expect any updates early on. After all that I'm planning to take a break to catch some inspiration. I hope you understand.

You heard that right! Enemy Territory Single-Player campaign is finally released!

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory: Single-Player is a free addon for RealRTCW. It is an attempt to recreate the cut single-player campaign of multiplayer only Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. Basically it is a solid single-player conversion of all six multiplayer maps from original Enemy Territory.

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory: Single-Player is available on Steam Workshop.
The package includes:
  • 6 extensive missions based on converted multiplayer maps from Enemy Territory
  • 25 new achievements to earn
  • Exclusive weapons: Rifle Grenade, Browning MG, Air Strike and Gas Grenade.
  • Ovehauled ET-like HUD and UI

Another Wolfenstein modder Eugeny shared his progress on PC Port of console exclusive chapter called Cursed Sands, which features unique Egypt environments. His work is based on superior Xbox version - Tides of War. The project is still in its early alpha stages.
