GRID FORCE - JUNE DEVELOPER RECAP

Howdy!

Welcome to this Grid Force developer recap for the month of June, 2022, and blimey, what a month it’s been. There’s lots to talk about this time, perhaps more so than ever before, and whilst some of it may be familiar territory to those of you who hang around our Discord or follow our socials, there should be some sneaky bonus bits and bobs in store, as well.

Some of the stuff I’m bringing up feels like it happened months ago, but rest assured, this is everything we got up to in the month of June.

Let’s go.

ELEVEN-OH-EIGHT-TWENTY-TWO

Earlier this month we announced that Grid Force - Mask of the Goddess will be dropping on the 11th of August, 2022!

It’s been a long time coming as we push on with development of the game, but we were delighted -- and slightly terrified -- to finally unveil the release date for all of you.

And, to coincide with this, we also released the Grid Force - Mask of the Goddess - Official Trailer to give an updated peek into how the game now looks.

It’s come a long way since the days of the mobile-friendly Grid Fight, and there’s still a bit more to go, but we’re very close now.

Not only that, but we also also released an updated demo onto Steam, Itch.io and the Xbox Store so you can have the chance to not only see the current state of Grid Force, but experience it, too.

(More on the new demo in the next segment.)

The final month of development is upon us! Let’s get this game finished.

TEMPLE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

On the 27th of June, we launched a BIG content update, free for all players who download the demo for Grid Force!

We’ve dubbed this The Temple Trials (thanks, Jordan) and it serves as a survival challenge against 50 waves of increasingly difficult enemies.

For those in search of some straight-up grid-based action, this is the place for you, and if you’re looking to grab some exclusive Grid Force merch at the same time, look no further, because anyone that enters the Temple Trials competition will be added to our prize pool for a Grid Force t-shirt, and, the victor of the Temple Trials will receive a collector’s edition Grid Force Xbox Series X|S controller.

Fill out this Google Form to enter, and jump into the latest Grid Force demo over on Steam, Itch.io, or the Xbox Store, and smash through 50 tough-as-nails waves of enemies.

Good luck!

(You’re gonna need it. I’ve been getting bodied in the back half of the challenge.)

BUG OF THE MONTH: I’M YOU BUT LONGER

The Temple Trials didn’t come without their tribulations, however, and if you were in our Discord at the time, you’d know we spent some considerable time squashing bug after bug that snuck its way into those 50-wave runs.

Some of them were just plain annoying, like Wasper’s general existence, but there were a couple of humorous ones, too, and this month’s banger of a bug comes from Jordan, one of our QA team members.

Presenting: The Long One

For context, these critters are supposed to be the size of a single square on the grid -- similar to that Fishylla next to it -- but something went horrendously wrong causing them to be stretched up and off the screen.

Luckily, this has since been fixed and the culprit appropriately seized, so you won’t have to worry about encountering the Long One in the Temple Trials, or the final release of the game.

(Unless…)

(It genuinely won’t appear, but if it does, please let us know immediately that the Long One has escaped containment.)

BUG-A-BOO

Last up, this is a quick announcement/reminder that we have a mailing list! If you sign up, or perhaps you were signed up already, you’ll receive some exclusive giveaway opportunities, as well as early access to blog posts like this one!

NOTHING MORE TO SAY

And that, my friends, marks the end of this June developer blog post from us. It’s been a busy, busy month, and we suspect next month will be even busier, still!

Also, I have a slight confession to make, as the July developer blog post will be the final one I write here at Playtra Games. I’ve loved producing these lil’ recaps every month, and I hope that they’ll continue in some way, shape, or form moving forward.

Until then, though, I hope you have a great month, treat each other well, and that you’ll join us over the next few weeks as we prepare to ship Grid Force - Mask of the Goddess.

Take care!
