Release Postponed

Space one is huge. And whilst a lot of the game is ready for release, We have hit a roadblock that is stopping us from releasing when we want to! :(

As a result we have put Space One's Release on pause, and have turned our attention to a prequel of Space One we have been working on entitled "Space One - Ascendant".
This will retail cheap and feature a lot of similar game components as space one, but in 2D.
So head over and check that out and we will keep updating this page as we have more news and as the game progresses.

Whilst I would love to release it to you, its a going to take a little longer to make some of the elements that we think are necessary for a early access release.

I am sorry for the disappointing news but, check out Three Blank Bullets and a Hand Grenade.
The game page will be up in a few days!

DEV UPDATE #4/5

Hey all,

Its been a little over a week, and I have been working hard at getting Space One ready for an early - early access release.

I want you to all be very very aware, that because the game is not set to be released on early access until May, a lot of features may come and go during the months that follow.
Arcade Mode and Dynamic Updates
We will start out first with an arcade mode, and you will be able to access each new feature in the arcade as it becomes available. I intend on updating every time I have new features to share, rather than making promises of 1 week.
The benefit of this is clear, some weeks I may have new features ready in a single day.
Others may take up to but not exceeding 2 weeks.
Career Mode
After enough content for the "Career Mode" (name very subject to change) then I will unlock career mode for your access. I may occasionally unlock career mode for a day for people to play in it. And when I feel there is enough content to keep it unlocked, I will do so.

I want to be clear on all of this, because I don't want you to be disappointed.

So that about covers it, the new trailer highlights the menu content and gives you a starting idea of the game mechanics and the flow.

I have let go of the high resolution textures for now, as they require a lot of optimization and such is much more complex as just one dude.

I hope you all enjoy the game, feel free to send suggestions and errors to the email address on the game page, and I feel if several people make the same suggestion, it is likely it will be implemented.
Customer Service
Lastly, I wanted to say, if you are unhappy with the game, the gameplay or something that you read or experienced related to the game, rather than giving a bad review, I want you to be transparent with me.
Tell me, and I will do whatever I can to help come to a reasonable and quick solution.

We are create a universe here friends, and there are many universes out there to choose from: No Man's Sky, Robert Space Industries, Astroneer, Space Engineers, Elite Dangerous - to name a few.
You Matter
Your support, through word of mouth, and good reviews will help propel us forward.
At first launch, and until the unlocking of "Career Mode" the game will be available at a greatly reduced price, as a kind of reward. Think of where I am now, and your purchase of the game as kind of like what RSI did with crowd funding - Each copy of the game sold, goes towards fuelling Space One. The more interested people we get, the more content we can bring, and eventually I can hire people to make the progress come much much faster.

Between now and then, thank you for your interest. Together, we are going to shake the industry forever because my imagination has no boundaries and no limits.

Best Wishes,

~Andy

Progress Update #3

Disclaimer

So I wanted to take the time to clarify a few things about Space One, and Triangle4 Studios.
You may notice on occasion I refer to Triangle4 Studios as 'Us'. This is entirely forward thinking.
At this time, I am the sole developer of Space One. That means every sound, texture, model, and piece of code in the Game, was made by me.

Keeping this in mind, there are many things I want to do in Space One, but I need you to all understand that I work a day job, then I come home and work another 12 hours on Space One.
My goal is to bring Space One up to the level of AAA games, and I solely depend on your support to do that! So if you are playing the game and you encounter a bug, post it on the forum and I will add it to the list.
The bottom line is all games have bugs, and the more reports we get, the better we can make the game!

Space One is a massive game, a dream that I started 2 years ago, that when complete, will offer timeless gaming, graphics that I will continue to upgrade over time so the game never gets boring, and new elements always being added. Whether that is a new skill, a new ship, new enemies, new weapons, or my personal favorite, new Mini games.

One such mini game I am working on is a western strategy game, not too dissimilar to games like a** of empires, e***** earth, w** of warcr*** and st***raft. The difference being that you are inside of a game, and your player character from the game, goes into this game and partakes. You physically can control your character, join in the battles, go inside the buildings, and command the armies in person.
And if that sounds massive, it is!!! And this is a mini-game INSIDE space one, that I am working on!

The plan is to have more than just one of these, different Genres, and what you do in them, affects your experience, skills, research and such outside the mini game as well. So its quite a unique element.

From drones that you can have an intelligent ROBOT to ANDROID(YOU) conversation with, to complete weapon, armor and ship customization, vast adventures, to the most complex and complete crafting, construction, skill system, research system and market that to this day has ever found its way into a game, we are going to rock the foundations of gaming forever.

But its going to take time, because again, I am one guy!

So with that in mind, have mercy on me when you give your reviews, give bug reports often, stay health and always always always recycle!

See you next week!

~Andy~

Progress Update # 2
The Road So Far
As we continue to press tirelessly towards our release date, we have nipped a few more epic parts of the game in the behind! And some are worth noting!

  • Galaxies - We now have thousands of galaxies, ready for you to explore and die in! Or live, if you are a smart spacer
  • Solar Systems - Each galaxy has thousands of Solar Systems to explore as well... so if we do the math that's , thousands x thousands... Millions!!! Millions of solar systems!
  • Each solar system has up to 14 explorable planets with some freak solar systems having more than 20;
  • Moons - Each planet has up to 5 explorable moons, that by them selves, take nearly 1 hour to walk around
  • Travel Time by Foot - Each planet can take from 20 minutes to four hours to walk around.
  • Planets are rich with resources, monsters, mountains, canyons and all kinds of ways for you to die! And live... If you have what it takes!
  • Asteroid fields - each solar system can have up to 3 asteroid fields, gas clouds, ice belts and other strange and explorable phenomenon, such as wormholes and black holes.

Over the next few weeks we will release more new images of our progress for you to get excited about!
We are getting ready to move in to the development of our space station development system, where you, the brave astronaut that you are, can try your hand at building a space empire, one space station at a time.

Some of the features of the space stations will include:
  • A wide variety of sections to research, invent and construct.
  • Once developed, the mercenary market will enable you to build a fleet of ships that will follow you around, and support you in battle.
You will be able to customize those ships, but bear in mind, the size of your fleet depends heavily on your reputation, and the size of your pocketbook.
  • Once you develop your first station, you can start earning income from trade that is done inside your station. You can also sell to traders who come into your station and buy from them.
  • Your stations can be attacked by several factions, so make sure you install some good weapons and defences! Speaking of which...
  • Research modules will enable you to improve research. Hiring technicians, scientists and philosophers will enable you to research faster. You can also research manually in the culture tank, which we will elude to more later.
  • Weapons - Once you have the research, money, skill and resources, you can begin development of weapons that will help you fight of invaders and factions that would like to steal your hard earned possessions. Space stations will take time for you to achieve. But trust be, in our preliminary tests, we lost one of our employees for hours when he forgot he was working and started building a space station.
  • Ship Modules - Once you have the research, money, skill, and components, you will be able to build, customize, buy and sell ship components.

That is enough spoilers for today, in a few weeks we will release a more complete trailer, with much more information, and start showing you the space station update, and the combat update!

Cheers

- Andy!

Update: We've promised weekly updates, and we will deliver, but right now we are working extra hard to get more content into the game so we have a greater reveal for you!
Stay tuned and we will restart weekly updates in 2 weeks!

Space One - Gearing Up

Hey what's up fellow astronauts! Welcome to our very first announcement! My name is Andy, and I am the Lead Designer for Space One!

I just want to start by telling you that, though we haven't released much info about our game yet, much more is on the way! We have a small, incredibly talented and hardworking team, working 12 hours a day 7 days a week on Space One, and I have to say, its going well!

We have a lot on our plate, and as such we are slow to share whats going on!
But we will be changing that, gearing up for a regular release of the game progress every Sunday, until our Early Access Debut!

Today, we just want to let you know we are presently working on the development of the starter ship, which we will release a trailer for on Sunday the 6th Sunday the 13th of December! Stay tuned for that as it will reveal a lot about the game so far!

As you probably have read, we have plans to make a massive universe, so many ships, with so many custom weapons, armor, parts, colors, sounds, and features to really make them your own. However, we havent really explained much more, and so over the course of the next few weeks we will begin to reveal some of those features to you, and explain how they fit into the game play!

As we develop each ship, you will have more and more access to new features and options to give you that edge in battle, exploration, mining and more!

So stay tuned for that trailer!

Yours Truly!

Andy B.
