Open World game mode is live!

Finally, Human Diaspora is becoming what I dreamed of! The first level for the Open World game mode is live!

You can explore any place of the map you desire. Find and switch vehicles. Locate scattered weapons. Fight or run from danger of various sizes.

This is just the beginning. I am now focusing on creating the Open World space level. Where you can get into fierce fights, explore derelict structures and learn what is going on in this violent environment.

See you soon!

Update 6

Hi everybody! A new update with new content and bug fixes.

Changes:

1. New level: Misty Caverns. It is an ominous bottomless pit with dangerous platforms and cliffs.
2. A more appealing User Interface theme and it adapts better to different aspect ratios.
3. Shadows are disabled by default: increases performance, but you can toggle it on if desired.
4. Limited shadow distance: increases performance.

Bug fixes:

1. Progress bar: displays the correct percentage.
2. Grass and decals materials: rendered in the correct order.
3. Menus load faster now.

More to come, see you soon!

Update 5

Hello everybody! This update focused on adding Settings options and the requested Keybindings menu.

Changes:

1. Settings: Look Sensitivity
2. Settings: Invert Camera Y Axis
3. Settings: Switch Camera Look to Left Thumbstick
4. Keybindings: now you can customize Keyboard/Mouse and Gamepad controls to your liking

Some small bug fixes in menus and in some game entities.
Now I believe I can finally return to content creation: new areas, enemies and guns.

Update 4 (small)

Hi everyone! Time again for another small update. Small, yes! But it brings better game performance all around. I heard some complaints about game freezing for short periods of time, or substantial frame rate drops to the point of making the game experience just plain bad. Now I found some code culprits and made them take the long walk towards oblivion. I tested it out for over a week and I say that the game run smoother on all levels. But here and there, there are some small frame rate drops but nothing serious. It occurs mostly when there is a lot going on, like several enemies fighting at the same time. Took the time also to tweak some game settings and behaviors for the dynamic objects in all the game. Well, now is finally time to get back to create more levels, enemies, or even new game mechanics. My goal is to make Human Diaspora a game that has a whole lot of non-stop action. See you soon!

Update 3 (minor)

Hi Folks! This is a quality of life minor update that fixes some issues encountered by you and reported to me through the Steam platform.

Changes:

1. Added a Level Selector: for those that didn’t like the strategy mode, you can skip it all together, and play whatever level you liked the most. Bear in mind that there is no game progression in this mode. You play the level, beat it or not, but it has no effect on the game as a whole. Not just that. When I add new levels you can play it first hand without fuss.

2. Minor adjustments in enemy damage, Sound FX volume and game settings.

Fixed Bugs:

1. Now you can use both the controller and keyboard/mouse, no more locked cursor. You can connect, at any time, the controller and the game should recognize it immediately.

See you soon.
