Update 0.1.46.0
I started playing Isles of Pangaea this morning after I had enabled the evolution point cost for new dinosaurs and my dinosaurs just kept dying within the first few minutes of gameplay. I thought maybe I should add an evolution point refund mechanic that refunds your evolution points when you die within five minutes of starting a new dinosaur. Then I got to thinking you know what would be better than making the player grind for evolution points any time they wanted to play a more powerful dinosaur? Giving the player a sense of accomplishment and allowing them to permanently unlock a dinosaur species with evolution points, then their dinosaurs dying often won't be such a burden. So I give to you, Update 0.1.46.0 (The Unlocking), the new dinosaur species unlocking system! Spend evolution points one time to unlock a species and then you can play that species as many times as you like without having to spend any more evolution points. This new mechanic uses the new save data system so you won't lose your progress.
Please let me know what you think about how much the species unlocks cost, is it too much, or not enough? I wanted the higher tiers of species to require some time and effort to be spent in order to unlock them because they are more powerful. Plus when multiplayer functionality goes live, if you see someone with a higher tier of dinosaur you'll know they survived a lot to earn it.
