Devlog #1

Niltze!*

It's time to slowly reveal the cards to you! The most important information is that the demo is coming soon! From now on you can expect regular devlogs.

Probably most of you will notice that the game is significantly different from what we presented at the very beginning. When we first showed you the Aztec Empire steam card, we got a ton of messages from you regarding historical inaccuracies. Out of respect for Aztec culture, we decided to completely rework the game, going back to historical accounts to build a knowledge base. And so, after a year of development, and several iterations, we think we are approaching the moment to share the demo with you. Before that happens, however, we'll give you an overview of what you can expect from our game. Check it out!

Since Aztecs The Last Sun is a city-builder in the first place, we would like to start the devlog series with architecture. We are preparing a whole range of different buildings, what's more, they will be upgradeable, which will be reflected in their appearance (below you see some buildings and their two upgrade levels- there are more of them in the game, both buildings and progress stages).

When writing about buildings, the construction process itself cannot be skipped. Our team wanted it to be more than just a 'click and you have it'. For this reason, the construction process will consist of two stages, with the 3rd stage as a functioning building. And since something can be built, it can also be destroyed whether by man or various disasters. That's why we also added demolition stages. Take a look!

How cool are these stages? But that's not all. Each building will have a specific function, crucial for the survival of the community.

Speaking of building a city, we can't skip laying roads as a major requirement for the proper functioning of Tenochtitlán. Roads, like buildings, will be able to be improved, which will also have an impact on the more efficient functioning of buildings. Of course, as a city-state located on a lake, bridges will be an essential part of the architecture.

Ok, we'll end here so as not to reveal too much right away. Today we touched on architecture and building in general, but that's just a foretaste of what awaits you in the game, we didn't even mention digging canals, farms, and other cool stuff. In the next devlog, we'll show the survival part of the game, and then we'll give you a little closer look at the economy.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our discord channel. As the demo is approaching, in fact, it's just around the corner, we will launch a separate discord channel dedicated to our game any moment now. This will be a great platform to talk and exchange opinions and ideas. For the moment, however, drop by the channel of our studio, and we will arrange the Aztec server in the meantime. Give us a high five!
