Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale News

Become an NPC in our game!

Did you know that Mictlan is a 100% independent video game in development?

This means that the support of our community is vital to us, allowing us to realize the dream of turning Mictlan into the first realistic open-world video game in Latin America.

So...

Do you want to be immortalized in a video game?

Do you want to be part of Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale, literally?
Become an NPC in our game!
There are two ways to become a character in Mictlan:

✔️ You can buy one of our characters on our Patreon website, with monthly payments. This chance will only be available until the launch of our Kickstarter campaign.

✔️ You can immediately buy a character in our online store, paying in full.

You will be able to choose between a Spanish character or a Mesoamerican character, depending on your skin color and ethnicity.

If you decided to secure your own NPC, you will be supporting our project and have our sincere thanks!

💕 To all our supporters, even if you can't afford to chip in now, we thank you for being part of our growing community. We’re always happy to hear your voice, accept your feedback and new ideas! 💕

It would be immensely helpful for us if you registered on Kickstarter to follow Mictlan, helping us to reach our goal of launching the campaign! We can only do that if you help us!

Itzpapalotl

Today we want to show you the concept art of Itzpapalotl, goddess of war, patroness of death, and councilor of the Temoanchan Paradise (a mythical and earthly paradise).

The legend says that when Iztpapalotl was sent to Earth, falling from heaven, she wore an invisible cloak so that no one could see her, giving her the power of invisibility.

The fearsome skeletal warrior goddess uses white makeup and different colors, and her chest pectoral represents power and fire.

Itzpapalotl appears with butterfly or eagle attributes. In our concept art, her hands and feet are replaced by jaguar claws, this makes her a Tzitzimitl “a mythical terrible being”.

It would help us immensely if you decided to sign up to our Kickstarter campaign.
In order to launch the campaign, we need at least 20k people to register to the page. It literally takes a minute to do so, but it would mean the world to us.

Atlatl

Commonly known as a spear-thrower, the Atlatl is, without a doubt, a deadly weapon.

This powerful weapon allowed warriors to throw spears from a great distance with deadly force and speed, easily piercing through any armor or enemy.

The weapon has an elongated body that ends in a hook where the darts are placed, and it also possesses a handle with two perforations for a strong finger grip.
Capable of reaching a speed of 130 km/h (80 mph), darts made of wood, flint, teeth, bone or obsidian. They were able to pierce the flesh and incapacitate an enemy within seconds.

In Mesoamerica, the Atlatl earned its fair place as a symbol of war, power and greatness.
It became a must during the classic era wars. It was so important that in the temple of Jaguars, in Chichen Itza, almost 180 different soldiers were represented holding this particular weapon.
Will you use the Atlatl in Mictlan? Or do you prefer melee weapons?

Tenochtitlan

Huge, grandiose and overwhelming in its nature, the capital of the Aztec empire is coming back to life!

This is what the level of Tenochtitlan might look like in Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale!
In the pictures below, you can see some sketches of a ceremony held in the main temple.

When building new levels in our game, our team goes through extensive research, carrying out an analysis of codices, murals, reconstructions, stories, etc.. All of these elements are then summarized in a mood board which allows us to get inspired and have all the necessary pieces to recreate what Tenochtitlan really was.
