Mictlan: An Ancient Mythical Tale News

60k Thank you!
60K thank you to our entire beloved community for being part of our dream of recreating the Mesoamerican myths, of creating Mictlan!
It has been less than 6 months since we started the development of our video game, can you believe that? We're relentlessly working to achieve results fast and effectively.
This creative process entails many challenges in an effort to maintain very high standards. We have a small team who is working with the same passion and purpose as hundreds of people and we couldn't be more proud of what we have achieved so far.

As we get closer to the finish line, each and every day, here is what our roadmap looks like:

📌 1) Launching our Kickstarter campaign, with a minimum of 20K backers (have you registered yet? It only takes a minute!)

📌 2) Showing our trailer (!) on the first day of the Kickstarter campaign launch.

📌 3) Launching our marketing campaign in the USA, Europe and Asia, expanding our audience which is mostly composed of affectionate Spanish-speaking fans, at the moment!

📌 4) Realizing our YouTube project called Mictlan TV, making videos about the development process of Mictlan, and about our other Mexican creative friends in Mexico and abroad.

📌 5) We are planning to make a trip through southern Mexico and Guatemala, visiting various archaeological sites, starting in Yucatán, Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilan, Tikal, El Mirador (the largest pyramid in the world, seven days' walk away, in the jungle). Of course, we'll have to see how the pandemic situation evolves in time, but we would like to travel with a group of archaeologists and invite several of the winners of a raffle that we will be doing in the coming months and those who bought the Jade package on our Kickstarter.

📌 6) We would like to give a small presentation in CDMX about our game and meet all of our amazing team members and fans in our loyal community!

Good things are coming this year, we will be working at the best of our possibilities to speed up the development process which will take at least 2 to 3 years (we hope less!), and we're happy to count on your support!

We will continue updating you with news, concept arts, sneak&peeks of our creative process, always being transparent about our development and involving you directly, to hear your voice!

Finally, click on the image below for a little surprise:

Which one do you like the most?
We need your help!
Which one of these portraits by our talented concept artist, Josué Díaz, do you like the most?

These are the portraits showing what the famous Spanish conquistador, Hernán Cortés, could look like in Mictlan.

Do you have any specific advice? Would you like to see something in particular, regarding his appearance? Let us know in the comments!

Nahual Kids

According to the different traditions of Mesoamerican cultures, it is believed that the first creature to cross over the ashes spread before a newborn baby becomes that child’s nahual, a guardian spirit.

Every newborn has their own personal guardian, depending on their day of birth. A spirit that watches over them and protects them.

Kids can acquire gifts and special powers from their nahual, which can take the form of various animals such as a jaguar, an eagle, a deer, or a snake (among others).

In this concept art from our talented team of artists, you can see some of the younger characters you will encounter in Mictlan, each one with their own characteristics, skills and magic powers, each of them with challanges to overcome and adventurres to live!

A chat with Roco Pachukote and Horacio Garcia Rojas

For our Spanish-speaking community, you don't want to miss out on these interviews we hosted on Facebook with Roco Pachukote and Horacio Garcia Rojas!

Both of these talented artists have agreed to be part of our game, Mictlan, and we couldn't be happier and more honored to have them as part of our team.

Horacio is going to be a main character in the game, while Roco will appear as a Tlamatini.

Macuilcuetzpalin

In the Mexica pantheon, there are five Gods who are the embodiment of excess, overindulgence, pleasure and drunkenness.
They are known as Ahuiateteo , "Gods of pleasure" or as Macuiltonaleque "Spirits of days 5", (because all their calendrical names start with this number).

Today we're showing you the concept art of Macuilcuetzpalin (5 Lizard), the God of pleasure, whose body is painted in black ink. Designed by our concept artist Josue Diaz with the features of our very own Creative Director and founder Guillermo Alarcon.

Macuilcuetzpalin is characterized for his warrior-like attributes, being the only one out of the five Gods wielding darts and a distinctive shield (chimalli).

Would you like to meet all of the five Gods of excess?
Would you rather fight them or have them as your ally?
