Miquiztetl #3

On previous occasions, we showed you the fearsome Miquiztetl, also known as “the fleshless one”.

Listening to the feedback of our community, we decided to give her an even scarier appearance.

The only goal of the cruel Miquiztetl was to prevent the dead from reaching the realm of Mictlan. To do that, she used all the resources at her disposal: deception, confusion, terror and physical attacks.

This is one of the versions that our artists have been working on, you can see the flesh on the deity's skull: a kind of symbolism in which Miquiztetl stands between the living and the dead.

Legends, myths, facts, history: Mictlan has it all! We're aiming at including in our game the most incredible stories, and we will continue updating you with news, concept arts, sneak&peeks of our creative process, so make sure to follow us on our social media channels to stay updated!

Ahuizotl #2

Dear Mictlan fans, today we want to show you a preview of one of Mictlan's legendary creatures, the Ahuizotl.

"Espinoso de agua'' (Thorny One of the Water) is the meaning of its name in Nahuatl. It was the size of a coyote, with small pointed ears, a long tail and a kind of human hand at the end of the tail.

This creature lived in the deep springs of the waters, hunting many fishermen's sleep.

It would use its long, prehensile tail to grab its unsuspecting victims to pull them under the water. It would hold them there, until they drowned. The Ahuizotl would then feast on its prey's eyes, nails and teeth, leaving the rest of the body floating in the water.

Which one is your favorite variation?

Mexica warrior

The Mexica culture was famous for its monumental architecture, complex society, and sacrificial rites.

Nonetheless, pre-HIspanic cultures were also recognized for their militaristic power, standing out in the chronicles of the 16th century as fearsome warriors, who gave a hard time to the Spaniards during the first years of the conquest.

Amongst the most iconic images of their culture are the warriors of Tenochtitlan: the Jaguar and Eagle warriors, elite troops that in their early days, were young macehualli who captured enemies, perfecting themselves battle after battle, until achieving mastery.

This is a concept art of a Mexica warrior ready for battle in Mictlan!

Codex collection

As with any good video game inspired by history, in Mictlán: An Ancient Mythical Tale you will be able to find hundreds of facts and information about the historic time and place that the game is inspired by.

Every landscape, character and artifact that you find will be registered as your own codex, which you will be able to access any time you want and learn a bit more about them.

For example, every weapon you add to your collection will have a description with the name’s origin, how it was made and of which materials.
You will also be able to rotate it on its axles so you can appreciate not only the beauty of the original handicraft but also the amazing work of our developers, from our concept artists to our 3D modelers.
What historic places and characters are you curious to encounter and add to your own codex?
Did you know Mictlan has only been in development for less than 1 year? Our goal is to raise enough funds to continue to support our development.
