It's almost time for the Beta!

We'd like to start with a huge thank you(!) to everyone for the overwhelming response and excitement surrounding The Dragoness: Command of the Flame. We cannot wait for you to get your hands on the game.

Sadly, applications for the Beta are now CLOSED but if you didn't secure a spot please stay tuned as we'll be posting more updates soon, as well as addressing the feedback given by our playtesters.

For those of you that successfully applied, we'd like to express our extreme gratitude for you taking part. Participants will have access to a huge portion of the game to ensure the team gets all of the necessary feedback. During the Beta, testers will have access to an in-depth feedback form where they can give a complete breakdown of their experience.

The Beta will run between 1st - 17th April, 2022. For more details of what the Beta entails please check our previous post here.

Good look commanders, we'll see you on the Draithir Peninsula!
Reminder:
The test will be carried out on Steam through beta access key distribution. All testers will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement before they are granted access to beta materials. Testers must also be proficient in English as the game is not currently localised.

Lastly, as The Dragoness: Command of the Flame is still in active development, the beta build will not be representative of the final product. As such, the sharing or streaming of gameplay capture/screenshots is strictly prohibited (sorry!).

Applications open for closed beta!

Greetings Commanders,

We've recently hit a major milestone as The Dragoness Command of the Flame enters the beta phase of development! To coincide with this, we're looking to recruit players to actively participate in a closed beta period which will run from 1st - 17th April 2022.

During the testing period, players will have full access to the beta version of the game, which is roughly 40 hours of content. At this stage we're really interested in getting feedback on the following areas:
 • Campaign - Level design & balance
 • Beast Units - Utility & balance
 • Hero Character - Abilities & skills

We appreciate that the game is quite big and have therefore designed the test so that players can drop in and out at any point, which means that whether you play 2 hours or 40 hours, your feedback will still be useful and appreciated!

There will be a limited number of places so please get your applications in early to avoid disappointment.

UPDATE: Applications are now closed!

Demo Update: Community Feedback Changes
Greetings Champions!
Are you ready to embark on your next quest? The Dragoness: Command of the Flame Demo has now been updated to include The Gates of Noita level, a challenging new experience that requires players to not only gather resources and slay monsters but also secure a permanent defensive position.
The Gates of Noita
This level offers a new gameplay experience where players will need to build up a garrison within the gate using units that they have recruited elsewhere across the map. Planning and swiftness are key as you will only have a few turns before an onslaught of enemies makes their move on the gate.

It'll be game over if the walls fall so you'll need to decide which units you can spare to keep defences strong.

Be warned: units defending the gates do not receive the same bonuses as your army and will be unable to make use of any of your hero's spells or artefacts.
Changes based on community feedback
We'd also like to thank you all for the support and feedback you've given us so far as we continue through development. Your voices are being heard and the team is hard at work making changes and improving the overall experience!

Here are several changes that have been made to the demo following player feedback:

 • Your Hero can now cast spells.
 • Beast units now move more freely on the battle map.
 • Hero skills and artefacts have been altered to have a more meaningful impact on the gameplay.
 • Multiple UI changes!

We'll have some more updates for you soon, including news on beta testing which we're planning to roll out in the coming months so stay tuned!

Again, many thanks for your interest in helping us shape the future of The Dragoness and we hope to hear more from you soon!

Beast Recruitment: Let's Discuss The Beast Army

Greetings to all!

You must take on the heavy role of Commander, recruited by the Dragoness, in her bid to conquer and bring peace to the world. However, a dangerous road lies ahead of you in this journey, and you need to do some recruiting of your own – beast recruitment!

Build up a powerful beast army to command as your allies but be sure to manage those resources because you will need plenty to keep an army going! Let’s take a brief look over some of the creatures you can recruit from the mercenary in the early game:

Centaur

One of the most common beasts you can recruit is a Centaur and you will find them in all the mercenaries you come across in early gameplay. You also start the game with this creature in your army, so you can use their skills straight away. Their basic stats are quite high and so this makes them a useful ally for beginners.

The centaurs are the best ranged attackers so they can slowly chip away at an enemy from a distance. However, the closer you get the more damage you can inflict – be careful though this is also a weak point for the Centaurs! Keep your eyes peeled for Artefacts to boost their power as well as you play.

Oaken Ent

Oaken Ent is the second most common beast and is a very useful nature ally in the form of a tree. They are very tanky so can take a hit like a champ due to their shield and health being high. They also have decent attack power if needed however their movement range is poor so keep this in mind when strategizing.

This creature is best for support with the ability to cast magic and an extremely useful spell that can root enemies and restrict their movements. Use this in conjunction with the Centaurs to keep enemies away from your party and you have a great team combination.

Harpy

A half bird/half women beast, the Harpy has great movement range and spell points that can be extremely useful as turning the tide of battle! Overall, their health isn’t the greatest, but the strong point of the Harpy lies in its ability to affect the dodge stats of units and also decreasing the attack power of enemies. Works best at taking out weaker enemies on the grid quickly and efficiently.

Griffon

The magnificent Griffon, half eagle/half lion and for obvious reasons have extremely good movement range – the whole map! This is great for inflicting bursts of damage or finishing off enemies like a winged assassin! Buff this advantage and power with certain spells too so be sure to unlock what you can as you play.

Also make use of their movement to aid your party, deter ranged attackers by flying close to the enemy and forcing them into a melee with you. Griffons also have the chance to affect the turn order by increasing the initiative of a targeted ally.

Mud Gremlin

Pesky little gremlins as the name suggests but thankfully useful for your battle in a pinch. These beasts are versatile having both long and short ranged attacks. Their attacks aren’t amazing, but their biggest selling point is the default spell which can decrease dodging on faster enemies.

Taurus

The powerhouse Taurus can really help boost your team in many ways. Not only do they have strong attack power, they also have good health too so you can afford to take some hits as its going to take a lot to bring them down.

Taurus also have the temporary move range buff which can either increase their own movement – which unfortunately is rather small – or help aid an Ent in battle to further their fight on the grid.

Welcome: Introduction to the Characters

Welcome explorers!

As you embark on an epic quest across the Draithir Peninsula – a land ravaged by warring factions of Dragons – you will encounter many characters as you journey to help conquer and bring peace on behalf of The Dragoness.

Let’s take a look at some of the individuals you will meet early on in your adventure!

The Commander

This is the character that you play as, and you get a glimpse of her full design as the game starts. The commander has been recruited by The Dragoness to aid in her quest to conquer and bring peace to the world. In your role as Commander, you must lead a beast army to fight your enemies and learn as you go about their strategies. The more you fight, the more you learn and all that can be put to good use in progressing your skills and levelling up your XP.

Natiq-Hay-Awan

Natiq is your trusty guide as you enter the rough countryside to meet with the Queen. He is a member of the noble house of Battle Pangolins, which are the cousins on the mighty Dragon race. Equipped with shining scales and long sharp claws Natiq will accompany you as you venture and learn during the early game. He has been sent by the Queen to make sure you reach her to go over your new mission. Every so often he will offer some useful knowledge or helpful advice as you get started.

The Wizard

One of the first side quests you can take on involves meeting a new character, the wizard. He is an elderly man with a very unique Dragon staff and simple but tasteful robes. It seems he has put up a protective wall on the path to the Town Portal and you must ask him to take it down. Of course, as most quests go, you don’t get something for nothing and so you are given a task to complete by the wizard first in order for him to have the power to remove the wall blocking your path. This wizard seems very blunt and definitely not the friendly type so probably best to move on as soon as you have completed the quest.

The Queen/Dragoness

Eventually you get to meet the very one who summoned you, The Queen, who is none other than a mighty Dragon herself! Things don’t go to plan in your run up to meeting for the first time and so your initial greeting is a rather sudden and funny one. The Dragoness outlines what has happened and what your next steps will be and also shows you a few more helpful pointers for the game before moving on. Not the grand greeting you had imagined, but you have now met your leader and have your mission, so your real adventure begins now!
