Final game update before release on March 5th, 2025! New and expanded content!



Game update and changes!


  • Added option for random starting gems so now you can play the game with the main three characters and different starting gems.
  • Made it so you run into less things and get stuck less.
  • Updated the gem store.
  • Chaos totem spawns more often on each level.
  • Chaos totem now displays 12 options as well as being mandatory. Also added new options.
  • Updated loot boss attacks.
  • Updated mage attack on 2nd level.
  • Added more sound effects.
  • Updated enemy AI.
  • Updated tutorial at the beginning of game.
  • Changed 2nd level boss attacks and added lighting effects to aoe attacks.
  • Added lighting effects to level 3 Minions.

I am excited for the release on March 5th and will continue to update the game or fix things that people run into! Looking forward to it!

Time has finally come for the full release of Monster Portal! I have been developing it for a long time and I am super excited to finally release the game! Mark your calendars!

Currently, I plan is to fully release the game on March 5th! That way it doesn't coincide with Steam Next Fest.



Biggest Changes

  • Added monster shards! Currency that transfers between runs to upgrade your hero!
  • Added global +20% speed boost
  • Added player dashes
  • Made it easier to level up (40% faster)


Smaller updates

  • Added moveable, lockable, and deletable GUI
  • Added more particles effects
  • Balanced level 3, enemy fire attacks
  • Boss 3 destroys all enemies when killed
  • Audio death sound level 3 explosion
  • Update death particles for level 3 minion
  • Updated chaos totem

  • Each hero now has his own ultimate ability
  • Added 2 loot bosses that randomly spawn
  • Game play paths are now unlock-able through various tasks ("Way of the X")
  • Created a Chaos Totem with random positive/negative effects chosen at random if accepted
  • Added an instance where magical "fairies" spawn and if you catch enough you level up
  • Toggle on/off new gem refresh rates (quick reference GUI)
  • New gem info window when hovering over gems
  • No cap for gem/player leveling anymore

  • Added text when poisoned, slowed, stunned, or confused for player visibility

Introducing MONSTER PORTAL !!!

Hello!

I had debated this for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger on it. There are many major updates and bug fixes to the game as well as 7 new gems!! Also changed a game mechanic where passive slot gems can refresh when not in active slots so you can real-time flip back and for to fully utilize your spells! It is a fun mechanic that engages more gems and is skill based in the heat of battle to know which spells you need and when.

Updates:
  • Added 7 new unique gems that can only drop from monsters/bosses/or paths
  • Created new particle effects for the new gems as well as implemented them into level up choices (can't buy in the store)
  • Made it so gems new can refresh while in passive slots
  • Added text below gems when on the ground to reference what they do
  • Fixed Greedy and Death Eater path bugs
  • Updated 2nd level with how boss comes out
  • Fixed bug with 1st level boss
  • Updated concept art in game and on steam store
  • New trailer on steam store
  • Updated menu screens
  • Capped how many monsters can spawn in a room at a time to help with lag issues
  • Balanced final boss and added final monster portal to also defeat with final boss fight


I am working to fully release the game in September tentatively. Either way I will continue to work on it and make it better. I appreciate all reviews and feedback! Thank you!
