Saleblazers 1st Year Anniversary - Update 14.7.48

It's been an entire year since we launched Saleblazers in Early Access! Thank you all so much for supporting the game so far. 🥳🥳🥳

We recently released our Prologue Projections patch v0.14.7.41, which brought many changes and new additions for you, but we still wanted to celebrate our anniversary with some additional content and improvements.
Highlights
• New Exclusive Cosmetics for 1st Year Supporters
 • New Set of Building Pieces
 • New Side Quest
 • Some Visual Polish Improvements
 • New Server Browser
First Year Cosmetics
Earlier this year we added our first cosmetic options for our early supporters. We wanted to add another badge of honor for everyone who has been a part of this first year of Saleblazers.

Players who have Saleblazers in their library before October 7th 2024 at 10 AM Pacific will unlock a green money name tag and a green money color dye for the Tourist Hat.
Money Name Tag
This green nameplate will show everyone you play with or come across on the Island that you're a dedicated Shopkeeper and that you always have money on your mind.💰

You can cycle through your available name tags in the ESC menu. Plus, starting with this update, you can also cycle through them in the main menu to set up your name plate before joining a lobby.

Reminder: If you bought Saleblazers before our first Steam sale in March, you should also have the golden Airstrafer name tag!
Money Tourist Hat Dye
With this update, you'll also unlock a new color dye option for the Tourist Hat. This can be selected in the main menu when you make a new character, and you can dye other Tourist Hats this color with a dye bench.

This cash-green cap will help get you in the head space of making the most money every time you open your shop.

If you all enjoy these cosmetic flourishes, we're excited to continue adding more and see your character photos featuring these items!
New Western Building Set
We know how much you all love to build and expand your houses and shops. So, what better to add for our one-year anniversary than a new set of building pieces?

These pieces are inspired by the architecture of Snowville and feature some nice wooden plank aesthetics for cozy homes, rugged cabins, and so much more.

This is one of the biggest building sets added to the game so far and it features some very unique pieces to use. Jordan, our designer, is especially fond of these tall windows with shutters and the saloon doors.

The set features brown wooden versions and rustic blue painted versions of the building pieces so you can accent with a pop of color or build a weathered structure to better fit the theme of your shop or house.

We also heard that some of our dedicated builders felt the wood structure options were a little bit sparse, so we hope this more than helps fill that void.

We're looking forward to seeing your builds using these pieces!
New Side Quest
Thanks to some feedback from some players on Discord, we added a new side quest to help bring you all to Burke O'Hare, our resident Death Box recovery specialist.

Following this update, the first time you rebirth after arriving on the Island, you'll receive a communication from Burke telling you about his services and encouraging you to come to him to recover your Death Box.

If you've already met Burke, this message will take the form of a reminder about using his recovery service.

From there, you can pay Burke to recover your Death Box and earn yourself some extra EXP and a Rune. We hope this will also help inform players about this mechanic so they know to use it if they ever have trouble getting back to their Death Box.
Reload Feedback Polish
Some of the guns have unintuitive reload times, so we've added a reload timer indicator to the gun UI to add some QoL to ranged weaponry. No more will you have to spam shoot and hope you're done reloading towards the end of the animation.

(This may or may not have been inspired by a hero shooter recently.)
Zipline Mechanic Polish
Attaching to a Zipline will now stick your character to a spot underneath the line instead of leaving you at the same relative position.

We did this to make the overall experience more comfortable and consistent. To complement this change, we've also modified the Zipline audio to sound more soothing. Check it out when you have the chance!
Updated Server Browser
In preparation for our upcoming dedicated server patch, we've updated the join screen.

You can see that in this screenshot dedicated servers will have a special icon!

We're planning on having some public server tests, so keep an eye out in the server browser list as well as https://discord.gg/Saleblazers.

Hotfix v0.14.7.45

This hotfix resolves some issues with player totems, revives, and fixes an issue introduced in the last hotfix where floating droppable items can't be picked up.

Thank you to everyone who reported that for bringing it to our attention and for your patience while we resolved the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.

v0.14.7.45 Patch Notes
➡️ Changes
• Radiation, cold, fire, hunger, and thirst damage no longer prevent in progress revives from completing. This should help reduce the frustration when your friend dies inside of an environmental damage area or while you are starving as previously you would have a hard time reviving them without being interrupted. Enemy attacks still interrupt revives.
 • Added a Discord button link (https://discord.gg/Saleblazers) to the main menu in preparation for the upcoming Steam store update where we will have to remove our store page's Discord image link
 • Reduced audio levels for looping tutorial lights
 • Added better crossbow reload animations
 • Disabled Occlusion Culling option and instead dynamically set it based on game zone manually for best performance case
⚙️Optimizations
• Optimized droppable floating resources so they no longer use colliders and run on another thread. This should improve performance when creating a lot of these items from farming or mining and should prevent crashes or falling through the floor when thousands of these items spawn at once
 • Occlusion culling should now be enabled properly in the prologue, which should help with GPU rendering performance
🛠️ General Fixes
• Fixed player totems always showing that something is preventing you from teleporting to them
 • Fixed players not being able to collect droppable floating resources
 • Fixed a rare case where mantling or sliding on very angled surfaces could cause you to fall through the world terrain
 • Fixed a case where players could not rejoin a lobby after being disconnected from it
 • Fixed a case where the host would see the wrong character customization for clients in the lobby screen
 • Fixed occlusion culling issues in prologue when resetting graphics settings in the prologue level

Hotfix v0.14.7.42

Rolled back for now since it accidentally included our upcoming Server Permissions Briefcase item, which can cause clients to not being able to interact with anything. We will be adding these changes back in the follow-up patch. Apologies for the inconvenience!

We have released v0.14.7.43 to resolve Server Permissions Briefcase issues. For now, please don't use it until our Dedicated Server Patch!

This is a small hotfix to resolve a rare code exception. Sorry about that and thank you for your patience!

v0.14.7.42 Patch Notes
➡️ Changes
• Updated Saleblazers logo in main menu with (slightly) new visuals
 • Highlighted the Help menu green in the settings so it's easier to find
 • Recolored the visuals for the Help menu
 • Changed the drop rates for AK47 Mounted Boars so they don't drop 4+ AKs
🛠️ General Fixes
• Fixed kick exception related to "HandleGroundLoaded"
 • Fixed an edge case with the Barricade Beggar quest for players who have already completed Mayor Yori's questline that gives Eddie the wrong dialogue
 • Fixed the navigation mesh in Kazai Settlement not updating around the new Guillotine for players who have previously built items with the Bamboo Construction Hammer in the area
📜 Known Issues
Both of these issues are now fixed. But we wanted to leave the warnings here for posterity and for those of you who may not have updated the game yet. We apologize for the inconvenience they caused.
 • Normal servers may gain access to Server Permissions Briefcase and Permission Briefcase items. These are items for managing the upcoming dedicated server functionality. In v0.14.7.42 they may cause a disconnection when used. This is fixed in v0.14.7.43
 • v0.14.7.44 was released with a bug that prevents players from properly picking up items spawned from mining or cutting down resources. This issue has now been fixed.

Prologue Projections - Update 14.7.41

Hello Shopkeepers!

We have a new patch for you today that we're very excited to share. We hope it improves the early game experience and adds some highly requested things for all you experienced shopkeepers, along with lots of fixes, optimizations, and general improvements.
Highlights
• Major Improvements to the Prologue
 • Major Upgrades to Building Snapping
 • Improved Stealth Mechanics
 • New Item Recipes and Research Board Unlocks
 • Three New Side Quests
 • Golf Cart Driving Animations
 • Improved Japanese Translation

We hope you enjoy it!

Prologue Additions

In this patch we're bringing some more major improvements to the prologue.

We want the experience of playing the prologue to better match the excitement and discovery in the rest of the game, so we've updated some rooms with that goal.

You'll now find projections of different locations on the Island in the leap of faith and dodge rolling rooms. The dodge rolling room also received a complete visual overhaul.

The blocking and parrying room has been redone to look better and improve the flow of players through it. The water type room received some visual improvements to make the water types more clear. The water material itself was redone to look better. And, there are more hidden items and things to find throughout now.

If you haven't played the prologue before or haven't seen it in a while, feel free to check it out on a new save. Hopefully, this will improve the experience for new players coming to the game.

Improved Building Snapping

One of the biggest areas of improvement we've heard you want is making the building system more straightforward to use.

We agree and want the building to be as seamless and enjoyable as possible, so we reworked our snapping system for this patch. We're calling the new system Quick Snap.
Quick Snap
The new snapping system should make it much easier to build downwards, which was a specific pain point with the old system. It also makes it easier to build by looking at where you want the piece to go instead of needing to look at the edge of the last piece to get it to snap.
Detailed Snapping Points (Hold Block)
We added more snapping points to our larger building pieces like walls and doorways so you can more freely build off them. We didn't want these additional snapping points to get in the way of normal building, so you can access these more detailed snapping points by holding block (right click) when building. This should open up the possibilities for a lot of different builds.

Remember that you can always ignore snapping completely by holding shift while building for total freedom.
Better Building Hologram Visibility
We also increased the opacity of the placement hologram so you can better see where you're placing in all lighting conditions and more easily see the color of the hologram, which indicates the piece's integrity.

This should help reduce cases where your pieces break because you didn't realize they wouldn't have enough integrity since you couldn't see the hologram was red.
Quick Snap and Legacy Building Snapping Toggle Option
This new building system feels a bit different from the old one, and while we think it's a significant improvement, we realized that some of you might be used to the existing snapping and want to stick with it.

So, if you would like to, you can change between the Quick Snap and Legacy building snapping in the gameplay settings.

However, we highly recommend you give Quick Snap a try because it brings a lot of improvements. Quick Snap will be enabled by default.

Better Stealth Mechanics

There has been a lot of player feedback on making stealth more viable, so we've been working on a few improvements.

Previously, you could already:
 • Mask your footstep sounds from NPCs by holding crouch (C)
 • Perform sneak attacks by hitting NPCs in the back while they're unaware for 2X damage

In this patch, we've added a few more changes to hopefully make stealth gameplay more viable:
 • Sneak attack damage increased from 2X to 5X damage
 • The angle of hitting NPCs in the back for a sneak attack is now more forgiving
 • Killing an enemy and hitting illegal items will no longer trigger hearing senses

As well as some more improvements to NPC sensing:
 • Reduced hearing range of Outlaws from 20m to 8m to bring them in line with other NPCs
 • Shooting guns should properly alert nearby enemies (suppressed weapons are much quieter)
 • When an NPC engages an enemy, they will alert nearby allies of that enemy as well

In this GIF, you can observe that killing enemies silently in one hit keeps you undetected. We hope you enjoy these changes!

New Item Recipes and Research Tree Unlocks

We've added a few more recipes to the Research Tree for some extra shop stock and decoration options!
Sports and Fitness Items
We heard that one of the more confusing star promotion VIP waves was when your shop filled with Athlete customers because there was not a straightforward way to craft your own Sports and Fitness items.

To help you overcome this challenge and unlock the ability to run a Sports or Fitness-themed shop, we've added 3 new nodes to the research board where you can unlock sports balls, other sports equipment, and exercise equipment.
Rustic Logs Benches and Stump Chairs
To go with the grass floors added in the last patch, we've added item functionality to these pine logs and stumps that you could previously find out in the world but not pick up. Now, you can collect and craft them to decorate your outdoor areas or help fill in a woodsy-themed shop.

The prices for all these items have also been rebalanced with their new recipes in mind.

New Side Quests
Kazai Village Blockade NPC Quest
Can you help reunite Eddie with his girlfriend?

This patch introduces a new quest intended to take early-game players who are hanging around Pop Pop's shop on a little adventure to Kazai Village and into conflict with the Ronin.

As a reward, you'll unlock a new decoration item we think many of you will enjoy selling, using to decorate your shop, or beating people with.

If you've already completed Mayor Yori's quests, this side quest will be a little bit shortened because the Ronin presence has already been reduced. But you can still get the rewards, and you can load up a new save with a friend to try out the quest in its entirety.
Bonsai Cherry Tree Shopkeeper and Quest
By popular request, we also introduced Farr Lind, a bonsai artist who will sell you bonsai cherry tree decorations near the Dojo Shop Plot. She also has a small quest where you can finally unlock the recipe to craft these beautiful little trees.
Guillotine Side Quest
You can now find Tobias Stint in the Kazai Castle Settlement beside a currently inoperable guillotine. Tobias wants to restore the guillotine and marvel at its engineering beauty. You can help him and unlock a special craftable reward in this new quest.

New Golf Cart Driving Animations

We've added all-new animations for driving the Golf Cart! Gone are the days of telepathic driving.

Fidelity FX 1.0 Performance Changes

Enabling FidelityFX 1.0 upscaling in the video settings will now automatically apply a 0.15 reduction in render scale for better GPU performance.

We've also enabled FidelityFX 1.0 upscaling by default for all graphics settings other than Ultra to hopefully provide a nice GPU boost for lower end PCs. If you want the look of the game from before, just set Upscaling to Normal with Render Scale at 1.0!

Improved Japanese Translation

We heard a lot of feedback that the Japanese translation in Saleblazers was lacking in a few ways, so we spent some time refining it and making various improvements. It's still not on the same level as our Spanish and Chinese translations, but we've observed significant improvements so we hope it improves the experience for anyone playing in Japanese.

This is also a reminder that if you see any issues or areas for improvement in the translation for the language you play in, please let us know on Discord or in the Steam forums, and we will work on improving it.

Dedicated Server Progress

You'll be able to connect directly to dedicated servers via an IP address, so we've added that option to the join button this patch. It's mostly designed for dedicated servers, which have yet to be released. You shouldn't be using this feature unless you're trying to connect to a dedicated server.

If you want up-to-date news, join https://discord.gg/Saleblazers, where we might even have public dedicated server tests!
