Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition News

[h3]That's right - we've finally released the Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition Steam Trading Cards, Emotes and Backgrounds![/h3]


[h3]Featuring familiar faces, familiar places and... other stuff![/h3]


[h3]Collect 'em all, swap 'em with your friends!
Sell 'em on the black market in a shady alley![/h3]



Lately we've mostly been hard at work on the console versions of the game (which are out now!)

And yes we're still getting cross platform multiplayer working - which was probably not the best idea to begin with but HEY WE KEEP OUR PROMISES AROUND HERE.

Once that's all sorted we can get back to working on ROTT: LE v1.1 which we're hoping to have out for you before the end of the year!

v1.1 will hopefully include:

• The final alternate character (Lightning Guard)
  
• More multiplayer modes and maps
  
• Level editor music jukebox
  
• The return of Remote Ridicule?!
  
• An auto switch weapon pickup toggle (thankfully)
  
• Stats menu for map screen (secrets/kills etc)
  
• Custom Comm-Batt levels
  
• Netcode improvements!
  

But that's not all. We've also been working on a physical collector's edition with Limited Run Games - and you'll be able to BE BURIED IN IT!

This remaster was made BY ROTT FANS / FOR ROTT FANS so we couldn't be happier to hear that we've done it right.

Meanwhile: Today we've updated the DEMO to be consistent with the full game...

• "-editor" command line param now launches the game directly into the editor.
  
  

CHANGED

• "Muzzle Flash" accessibility option now prevents level illumination.
  
• Auto-map has had some changes to improve readability.
  
• Save games on updated maps will now restart the map from the beginning when loaded.
  
• Menu font now shrinks if menu title is too long.
  
• Updates to the OPL player.
  
  

FIXED

• Firing missiles while running into an Excalibat will no longer cause a crash.
  
• Alternate Overpatrol is now the intended version.
  
• Timed door on "Finally, Some Headroom!" stays open, as intended.
  
• "Casual Sunday Barbecue" has had a softlock removed.
  
• Exit in "If It Bleeds, Kill It" has been fixed to point to the correct level.
  
• "Flabbey Road" and "Staff Meeting" are now their intended versions.
  
• Pressing the "aim" button no longer screws up freelook.
  
• Shooting an Oscuro egg no longer crashes the game.
  
• Being a multiplayer client no longer prevents you from seeing server menu items on new lobby.
  
• Ping now displays in milliseconds.
  
• We no longer allow quick saving in multiplayer.
  

[h3]We're now also Steam Deck Verified![/h3] So you can GET LUDICROUS anywhere at anytime.
(Even on the toilet)

I hadn't anticipated how much Rise of the Triad would annoy me in 2023. I loved it in the '90s, and not just because I was a child with low standards. I gather there were adults in the '90s who loved it too. But in 2023? Well, there's a lot that I admire about it, but to actually play it the way it's designed to be played—without cheat codes, I'm guessing—is a novelty that wanes after, oh, 10 minutes or so...

Just in time for Steam Next Fest we've released the Shareware Demo (it's just a demo) for...

Rise of the Triad: LUDICROUS EDITION.

The demo features one level (4 levels total) from each episode of ROTT:
