Vice Grill: Synthwave Survival Announced!

Hi folks,

I'm announcing the release of a new game! Here is what that is all about:
  • Intense Top-Down Shooter Action:
Engage in fast-paced combat against hordes of mutants with dual-pistols and electric melee attacks.

  • Immersive Synthwave Soundtrack:
Feel the adrenaline rush as you fight to the beats of an electrifying synthwave soundtrack by Karl Casey.

  • Dynamic Enemy Waves:
Adjust the difficulty by toggling waves of enemies as desired, empowering the player to manage the rhythm of combat. Players have the option to halt waves prematurely or let them proceed naturally. This grants players the freedom to tailor their gameplay experience, whether they prefer engaging in combat or focusing on resource gathering and crafting. Furthermore, the duration and intensity of enemy spawns adapt dynamically based on the player's progression through these waves.

  • Resource Gathering and Crafting:
Explore the vibrant, neon-lit landscape to scavenge Junk Piles and harvest Wild Crops, which are essential for crafting and survival. Junk Piles provide Steel for turret repairs and Wood for crafting shipments. Meanwhile, Wild Crops like the Avocato, Berrato, Carotato, Pineapplanto, and Spinachberry are collected for their raw food potential. These raw ingredients undergo refinement at the Processing Station, transforming into processed variants corresponding to their crop type. Processed foods are then taken to the Campfire, where players can create a variety of meals. By preparing five dishes matching the type requested by the Shipment Station, players can combine them with Wood to fulfill the order, earning a significant payout of Screws, the in-game currency.

  • Turret Customization:
Enhance the fire rates, projectile speeds, and durability of your turrets to effectively repel the constant waves of mutant attacks.

  • Dynamic Jobs:
Engage in a variety of dynamic jobs, from collecting items to hunting mutants, with challenges and rewards that increase as you advance.

  • Survivalist Upgrades:
Boost your own capabilities by upgrading your HP, SP, and Movement Speed. This will ensure your survival in the challenging environment.

  • Water Pump Mini-game:
Master the dynamic mini-game by utilizing the Water Pump to collect Purified Water. In this game, you'll need to enter a randomized sequence of WASD keys repeatedly. Sell your collected Purified Water to earn Screws, introducing an additional layer of engagement and strategy to your survival efforts.

  • Risk of Losing Screws:
Beware of the consequences of failure, as dying in battle results in the loss of all your hard-earned Screws. This risk adds tension to every encounter, encouraging strategic decision-making and prudent resource management to ensure your survival in the unforgiving neon-lit streets of Vice Grill.

  • 80's Themed Aesthetic:
Dive into a vivid and retro-futuristic realm awash with cyan-purple hues and nostalgic vibes.

Update - Build 1.0.0.68

Hi folks,

I've just put out an update for the game. Here is a list of what has changed:
  • Created a cinematic trailer showcasing new lore-backed artworks.
  • Re-created gameplay trailer.
  • Re-created screenshots.
  • Re-formatted store page long description.
  • Re-formatted store page short description.
  • Completely revamped all store and library assets.
  • Completely revamped main menu UI.
  • Replaced manual copyright sprite with an IDE-based text field for easier maintenance.
  • Added "resolution" to the interpolation warning string.
  • Disabled texture interpolation by default. This will enhance visuals significantly on resolutions that are 1920x1080 and higher, but worsen them for resolutions that are lower. If issues occur, simply press "I" to enable interpolation at any point in the game.
  • Completely overhauled introduction sequence and artwork.
  • Implemented an unused sound effect asset to the introduction sequence to enhance the narrative and atmosphere of the game's story.
  • After the tutorial is complete, the player is now restored to full HP, Hunger, and Thirst.
  • All Tool Ion attacks on enemies and NPCs now consume 1 SP per hit.
  • Doubled the base spawn rate of enemies from 1 per 6 seconds to 1 per 3 seconds.
  • Halved the base limit of enemies from 8 to 4.
  • Increased enhanced limit of enemies when using a Cursed Soul by 6x the new base of 4, totaling 24.
  • Halved the enhanced spawn rate of enemies when using a Cursed Soul from 1 per 3 seconds to 1 per 1.5 seconds.
  • Added boss enemies to the game. When using a Cursed Soul, 4 bosses will also spawn. These bosses cannot be targeted by turrets, but they will damage them (+25%) if they are caught in the crossfire. If caught in their blast radius, the player will take extreme damage. Bosses grant additional XP, which stacks with the C.A.N. Opener Jumpsuit's 2x Combat XP buff. Also, additional loot is dropped (6-18 Cola Tabs, a random S.E.L.F. tab, and 9-27 Power Cells). These new foes also do twice the usual damage to the player's C.A.N. and should be dealt with swiftly.
  • Added Repair Kit (1-3) and Power Cell (9-27) to the base enemy's loot tables. This is in an effort to reduce early-game difficulty, and the additional ammunition seems to add to the fun - especially when combined with the new Cursed Soul overhaul.
  • Increased ambient lighting factor from 0.022 to 0.5 - a whopping 2,272.73% increase in lighting.
  • Added 4 torches to The Void, which make the C.A.N.'s perimeter a bit brighter.
  • Reduced enemy sound effect volume by about 15%.
  • Amended Amborettio_credits.txt to include important information about new artworks.
  • Increased size 12 font range from 32-127 to 32-255 to allow for use of symbols.
  • Fixed a typo in the EULA.

Update - Build 1.0.0.64

Hi folks,

I've just put out an update for the game. Here is a list of what has changed:
  • Replaced the Void's C.A.N. sprites to be more seamless.
  • Texture interpolation can now be toggled on/off by pressing "I" at any time. This is enabled by default, but makes almost no visual difference when toggled on 1920x1080 resolutions, therefore it can be disabled without issue. However, resolutions below 1920x1080 will require this setting to be enabled, or text will not display properly.
