An Update to end the year

Greetings Builders!

The year is coming to an end and we hope you had a great 2024 with even greater games - and maybe even while creating a new city in Highrise City.

Recently we got a little quite regarding Updates for the game. However, be assured this does not mean we’re not working on something for Highrise City. The opposite is the case. However, this will require quite some time as it is huge effort we’re taking and we’re not yet sure if we can achieve what we want to. Time will tell. We’ll update you however once the time has come.

But: We’ve decided that you should get some free content for the game in 2024. So we’ve prepared a cool christmas update containing some fixes and adjustments (and visual improvements). Additionally there are new buildings which can now use to improve your city. The International Port can be built once per city and improves the volume of your trading capacities quite a bit. The Deep-Sea Fishery lets you finally improve the standard fishery. And the Triumphal Arc is a new massive building which allows your citizens to enjoy their spare time a bit more.

We wish you all a merry christmas and a beautiful time with your beloved ones,
The Fourexo Team

Grab a free Steam key for this ambitious Cities Skylines 2 rival

It's no secret that Cities Skylines 2 has struggled to catch on quite like its predecessor did. Marred by performance issues, a lack of modding tools, and faulty DLC, Paradox's city building sequel somewhat pales in comparison to its iconic predecessor. In its absence, however, we've seen a slew of plunky indies appear, including Highrise City, a colossal management sim that's easily Cities' closest rival to date. If you're keen to dive in, we've giving away a whole slew of free Steam codes, which include the base game, as well as some additional goodies.

German Dev Days & a belated Changelog!

Greetings Mayors!

The last two days the German Dev Days 2024 took place in Frankfurt, Germany. And we visited the show as Highrise City was actually nominated for three Awards, including Best Game. In the end we sadly didn't take home the prices as the amazing TerraScape also was nominated and took home nearly every award. And we'd like to congratualte as it is an amazing project.

If you ever get the chance to visit Germany around the time of the show however we can recommend to visit it, especially if you are interested in game development. Lots of great talks. But keep in mind that most talks are in German.

Besides that we noticed we did forget to post the full changelog for the free update when Vacation Season dropped. So here you go:

  • The building editor highlights the Help Button for the Tutorial now
  • Increased the amount of electricity Offshore Windparks produce
  • Adjusted the construction menu so that the menu doesn't move out of screen
  • IT-Service and canteens now need ressources to offer their services
  • Corrected an error which caused some buildings not to finish if ressources were too low
  • Improved performance when building space port
  • Graphs now scale better so that especially huge numbers are easier to understand
  • Added a tooltip in the subsidy menu so you can see the amount of produced resources
  • Fixed an error with copy pasting the space port
  • New Buildings:
    • Exhibition Center

Overlooked CS2 rival Highrise City is about to get bigger and better

The Cities Skylines 2 economy has certainly improved since the big 2.0 patch from Colossal Order. But if you want a strategy game and builder with a serious focus on manufacturing, production chains, and money management - something that marries the spirit of SimCity with the depth and detail of maybe Industry Giant - there's one underloved Steam stalwart that deserves more attention. A plucky rival to CS2, Highrise City is huge, complex (in a good way), and boasts a supremely intricate economic simulation. And if you haven't tried it yet, it's about to get even better courtesy of a new DLC.
