News Update

Hi all, Thanks again for being so patient with the Latest Update, I just wanted to update you all on the progress and current status.
Some changes were made to the initial concept both to make it a bit more realistic and in turn making it more simple to understand, also created a heap of error prints for the whole process to guide the user rather than things just not working with no explenation.
After the whole process has finished we will then start working on the saving process so through each stage heres hoping it can be saved and loaded without errors.

  • Added a 'Release Disassembly Desk Item' button to the 'Game Bugs' section in the Pause Menu. (This will force the desk to release any item that is attached to it. Keep in mind any item that is on or above the table after being released will fall back onto the table in turn re-attaching it)

  • Saved Data is now saved into '%appdata%/LocalLow/DefectGaming/Scrapping Simulator/Scrapping_Simulator_Save_Data.es3' due to beleif that Windows Security Restrictions may be causing some issues by saving Directly to the C Drive.


Can I use my Old Save with the New System?
If you wish to continue using your old save, find your original Save File on the home of the drive where your games are stored (usually C:/DefectGaming) and copy the 'Scrapping_Simulator_Save_Data.es3' file to the new directory listed above (if this path does not exist yet, you can either Create it yourself using exact capitilization or by starting a new game and saving it right away, and just replace the save file that is there.. You can access the AppData folder easily by pressing [Windows Key] + [R] and typing %appdata% into the console that pops up.
if your save is using the Older name of 'Data_Store.es3' Simply copy and paste it to the appdata save path, then rename it to 'Scrapping_Simulator_Save_Data.es3'.

Keep in mind, if you are stuck on the loading screen after clicking Load Game this may mean your Save File is Corrupt.

  • Optimized Save and Load for Prefabs and Scripts Contained on Prefabs.

  • Moved the Drill Position on the Disassembly Desk to help fix Collision issues.

  • Forced Save/Load to Save Item Scripts within Prefabs (In hopes to fix the case bug, as this presents itself after saving the game and re-loading, this causes any Active item in the scene to forget their sibling objects, ie the Case on a PC has every single object contained inside the pc, so the PC case can not be removed until all sibling objects are inactive, the CPU has the exact same script, though its siblings are only the Heat Sink and CPU Fan, so the CPU cannot be removed until its 2 sibling objects are inactive.)

DISCLAIMER: This Update Renders Previous Saves Unusable! This is to aid in the prevention of old corrupt data leaking onto a new game save. We applogize sincerly for the issues with the save and laod system though hope you understand that having a complete fresh start should aid in pin pointing any lingering issues.

I aplogize for delaying the Gold Refining Process Update though we need to get to the bottom of these annoying bugs before piling possibly more issues ontop of the current ones. The current status of the Gold Refining Update is Near Completion most of the main concept has gone through vigourus testing and now everything just needs to be linked up and set-up for purchase.. Though again this update will be prolonged until these last 2-3 bugs are completely fixed, as it seems Saved Data is becoming corrupt before people can even get a fair play of the game.

  • Fixed the way Purchasable Items are Saved and Loaded. Fixing Mainly the Drill forgetting if its purchased or not.

  • Fixed Disassembly Item Siblings becoming null after loading game.

  • Fixed Case from becoming 'stuck' and not able to disassemble, by adding NULL checks, even if something turns out to be failing, the process will still continue and not fail to destroy the case.

  • Optimized Save and Load for Objects and Scripts.

Whats being worked on?

Just giving a quick update as to what is currently being worked on.

Some custom beakers to use for Gold and Silver Refining have been made and scripting is currently in the works for them and the Chemical Area.

Also working on some adjustments for the Main Menu and other Optimizations.

I do apologize for the delay of the update though this one will take a lot of coding and testing time, I greatly appreciate your patenience.

DISCLAIMER: This Update will most likely corrupt saved data, I got in touch with the Developer of the Saving and Loading System and turns out the problems being brought up by players were possibly a problem with this system and not the coding on my end, since then the Developer sent me a patch to fix a UI error the was presenting itself every so offen. Though I do applogize that your Save or Some items may become corrupt, if by chance your save isnt corrupt though some items are, your best bet will be to sell those corrupt items to the pawnshop. otherwise unfortunately you may need to start a new game.

  • Added 'Not enough money' notification to the ewaste shop.

  • Added 1-4 Number Controls for Tools while disassembling.

  • Fixed Plus Box 2000 Powerboard.

  • Optimized Disassembly Script hoping it fixes infinite case glitch.

  • Fixed PC Random Generation after Loading.

  • Optimized Delivery System hoping it fixes pickup glitch.

  • Fixed Baked Lighting Issues on some Objects.

  • Fixed PC PSU able to disassemble before lid.

  • Fixed TV Mid Capacitors Anims Being Backwards.

  • Fixed Microwave BGA HS and Chip Anims.

  • Fixed PC Top Right CD Drive Screw.


Being so that the LCD TV, PC and Microwave were modified, it may be likely that your saved version of these objects may contain duplicate items that were Modified and Fixed, in this case it is likely that you will not be able to disassemble these duplicate parts making these objects 'un-finishable' in this case you can strip everything off the object that isnt duplicated and sell the remainder to the Pawn Shop if need be.
