LORDS OF THE FALLEN | Performance Troubleshooting Steps
Greetings Lampbearers,
If you are experiencing performance or crash issues in-game or at launch, we strongly recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Use the “AUTO-SET” option within the game’s SETTINGS menu under the GRAPHIC tab. This will apply settings best suited to your PC configuration and will optimise performance.

2. It is essential that you update your graphics drivers to the latest version, we have worked directly with Nvidia & AMD to offer the smoothest performance possible. Please find some useful links below:
Nvidia AMD
/!\ Make sure to restart your computer after the driver installation /!\

3. Regarding the crash on the first loading screen, while we await a permanent fix in collaboration with EPIC, we've discovered another workaround thanks to MitoGouken:
1. Go to "X:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Lords of the Fallen"
2. Right click on "LOTF2.exe" - Click on Properties
3. Go to the Compatibility tab
4. Activate compatibility with Windows 8
5. Disable fullscreen optimizations
6. Run this program as an administrator

This is a preferable solution to the previous workaround (#4) as it still utilizes precompiled shaders, avoiding mini stutters whenever you visit a new biome.
4. Another way to workaround the start game crash is to deactivate PSOs. Please note that this workaround may result in some micro-freezes the first time you enter a new area of the game. To deactivate PSOs pre-calculation, please follow these steps:
a. Right click on the game in your Library
b. Click on Properties
c. In the General tab, enter the following modifier in the Launch Options text box: -nopsos

5. Meanwhile we do not activate DLSS Frame Generation by default, if you have a 40 series nvidia card, you can manually activate FG by adding in launch options "-DLSSFG".

6. If you’re still experiencing issues, please send an email to [email protected]. When you email us, please attach[ a dxdiag file and supply the following details:
• How many hours you’ve played
• Steps to recreate the bug(s)
• And any other information that would be useful.
To generate a DxDiag file, please see here

Also, provide us with your GPU Debugging Log. Head to your Steam settings, and please enter the following command: "-gpucrashdebugging". Start your game and after your crash please head over to X:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\LOTF2\Saved\Logs\LOTF2.log

Take both logs and please include them in your email to our team at [email protected].

If the issue is a crash, please send us the text contained within the pop-up window that appears in the crash reporter window. Please click to “SEND” the information (DO NOT CLOSE IT) as this goes directly to our Sentry bugs database.
