Tortured Hearts - Or How I Saved The Universe. Again. News

Autumn Sale
Some news: I have been working on the Enhanced version for 5 years alongside my other projects, but due to problems caused by Unity, I keep running into new obstacles. After a lengthy investigation, I realized that the problem is probably with the MeshColliders, but replacing them is no small task in such a large game. I've spent the last 3 weeks working exclusively on the enhanced TH, and my other projects are on hold. If, by some miracle, I manage to solve this, I will also look into the Radeon problem, as one of my friends has a computer with a Radeon card. I haven't dealt with this in quite a while, and there have been several version changes since then, so I'll give it a shot.
[p][/p]
Before you buy the game, please try the free demo! In this way, you can make sure TH gives you what you expect without risking anything. Thank you.
[p]
[/p]
Please consider buying one of the BUNDLEs. This way you can get the games at a lower price.

The game is not compatible with Radeon cards due to Unity/Radeon issues!

Please read the pdf document attached on the Shop page. Also, study the in-game help, it has tons of information about the game.
If you are stuck, either me or other players will help you. Feel free to ask any question.
You can find a very spoilerish description about the first third of the game here (read it only if you are hopelessly stuck)

If you're a new player, here are 2 very important things you should keep in mind:

-In order to invoke a tooltip, you'll have to keep left shift pressed while the cursor is over the target. Items, buttons and even buff/debuff icons at the top of the screen have a tooltip.

-Keeping Space pressed highlights interactives around you. Items, placeables, friendly or neutral creatures will have a blue marker, enemies will have a red one.

------

The game is non-linear to the extreme. This means, there is no set path for your character. Basically you can go wherever you want (with a few so-called choke points). This, of course, has its downsides because you can stumble upon enemies or skill checks too difficult for your current character. Don't fret though, the game offers plenty of other things to do (combatless questing, exploration, crafting, finding lore, fun conversations) until you become more capable. It's always a good idea to stock up on good equipment and potions before engaging enemies. Companions are super helpful on many levels.

News

I can't make good progress with the Enhanced version yet due to various problems.

For the first prequel (TH1), all the areas of Pikedale have been completed, which is quite a big deal, since a large part of the game takes place there. I've already deleted some of the smaller areas from the Neverwinter mod because they're not important, but I still need nearly 240, which is about 50 more than the Steam version of TH. To quantify, Pikedale is about 60 areas, and I had about 20 already, so it's coming along. The most problematic was 1 week, which is a pretty bad split time unfortunately. If all 240 areas took 1 week each, the game would never be finished, especially as there are other things to do.

Building the area means that it is structurally complete, with textures, lights, paths are passable, important objects are in place, but will need further iteration later. In the second round, I will create the descriptor files for the interactive objects, select and add the music, and give each of these objects their corresponding stats.

Unfortunately, I had to take a major detour for my tabletop roleplaying game, as it was desperately in need of replacing all the illustrations. Since I'm using a new AI, the graphics are much better, and that means that the graphics in TH and other future games will be improved. For example, making super-looking seamless textures is child's play, meaning I'll be able to make much more varied environments.
Important News:
First I want to write a few lines about the Enhanced Version: for the time being, every test run reveals some minor or major problem, so I can't publish that for a while. Unfortunately, the constant editor changes put a stamp on this workflow. Last time, for example, there were no shadows in the build, to name just one interesting one.

As for the sequel: I've been thinking a lot about how to speed things up. The problem is that I'm doing several projects at the same time, so there's less time for a particular project. This is necessary so that I don't burn out completely on one project. Believe me, it's a very serious problem that I've run into before and I don't want to go through it again.

In thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that I'm putting TH4 on hold for the time being, as a sequel. Even though I had about 100,000 words of dialogue written for it, and made a couple of dozen areas, it was not progressing as well as I would have liked.
For this very reason, I decided to postpone it and instead do TH1, which is the first of my Neverwinter mods. This has the huge advantage of having the full text written, and the script calls are all in place. This is a huge advantage over TH4 that cannot be ignored.
To start, I went through the dialogue, and with about 1 week of work I replaced the D&D references with references to my own world (Eupherea). I then started building areas at a fairly brisk pace. Since TH1 is set primarily in the heyday of Pikedale, a lot of the areas are tied to this. Surprisingly, I've made good progress, and already have dozens of PD areas ready. The process is only about structures for the moment, there will be another round later when I'll be adding real data to the interactive stuff.

The good thing is that the TH projects have many common areas, so for example TH2 (yes, yes) and TH4 have the same areas (with minor changes), which will speed up the future development of both projects.
