Dev log / Update - 8/25

[p]We've made a lot of significant changes lately, things that dramatically alter the gameplay for Dragonhold in a positive way. The changes are far reaching and fundamentally change the experience. [/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Instance Items: Previously, when you went on a quest/mission, anything you got during the quest was reset when you escape/ended the mission. They would automatically convert to gold or XP , or a combination of both. The new functionality changes this entirely, and now anything you find during a quest will extract with you. And to bolster this, we've added a ton of new items and equipment. Which leads to the next huge update:[/p]
  • [p] Forging/Crafting: You can use the fragments you've collected in the mission to forge new weapons, armor, magical mods, equipment, and tools that go into your permanent inventory. There are easily over 100 forge-able items, each with their own stats and functions.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Dragon Landing: Previously, the dragons could only fly around, which limited their usefulness. Now, you can land and run around on the ground, allowing you to engage creatures from the air or the ground with your dragon![/p][p][/p]
  • [p] World Map: You can now travel to various places in the game world and explore lots of interesting environments, all while finding new loot and engaging with special enemies at leach location. This is a huge step forward from the single map we had before![/p][p] [/p]
  • [p] Plans: We've completed the missions and added a lot of new content like forging and new locations, we're marching towards release, so stick with us as we pack as much awesomeness into Dragonhold as possible!![/p]

Dev log / Update - 6/25

[p]During Nextfest we released a demo and got a ton of great feedback. It allowed us to improve so many systems and fix a lot of bugs. So first, we want to thank everyone who tried the demo and gave us critical feedback, you helped improve the game dramatically! [/p][p][/p][p]Since then, we've been hard at work finalizing certain aspects of the game, and working to expand and improve other parts. [/p]
  • [p]Missions/Quests: We currently have 9 mainline quests for the player to complete, and they can be played co-op or single player. It's up to you! Each time you complete one of these missions, you earn an anchor stone, which will rebuilt a portion of Dragonhold castle. And each part of the castle you rebuild gives you a new ability.[/p]
  • [p] Hub / Base Building: We're working on expanding the building portion of the game to give players move freedom. Currently we have the pre-made buildings that you can place; each one unlocks a game feature or player capability. We're experimenting with letting players expand on this by building whatever they want with access to new kits for construction. This is early stages yet, so we're not even sure we'll keep it, but it's definitely work testing out![/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Voice Acting: A lot of the feedback during nextfest was centered around the voice acting. We've brought on new VO actors to help improve the overall quality of the audio, and started finalizing some of the more cinematic aspects of the game as well:[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
  • [p] Petting & Interactions: We've also been working on new interactions between the player and the dragon, such as petting. Once the player unlocks a dragon , they can pet them in their hub! [/p][p] [/p]
  • [p] Plans: We're currently finishing up the missions, and then we'll refocus on improvements and expansions for the dragons. We'd like to re-implementing landing and walking around in your dragon form, to let players explore the map in a new way, so keep your eyes out for that in the coming months! [/p]

Dev log / Update

I can't believe it's been so long since the last official update.

The simple fact is we've been heads down working our tails off to make Dragonhold as awesome as we can. We've made some improvements that really help spice the game up.

  • The Director: We've build an AI director to manage the enemies, bosses, and spawns, to make sure players are always engaged and have something new coming up. This director is going to watch the players and determine how best to challenge them as they play. You may be facing a horde, or a mini boss when you least expect it... so... uh.... expect it!

  • Hub / Base / castle Building: This isn't your typical micro-management style base building. Players each get a hub world/island, and you're tasked with rebuilding Dragonhold castle. Each time you complete a mission, you get an anchor stone to shift a portion of the castle back into our reality. Additionally, you gain resources in Azarkeen from chest and defeating enemies, that you can use to build your castle town. Each building unlocks new features and gives you greater capability. The best way to imagine this is as a visual tech tree in addition to the player abilities tree.

  • Combat: We've made significant improvements to combat to make the game feel more impactful. Now when you fight a group of enemies, you really feel every hit! Try going in with friends and face down a group of goblins or a stampeding herd of gobbler's and live to tell the tale.

  • The hand of Fate: The hand of fate is dealt each time you travel to Azarkeen from your hub. It may make this particular run easy, hard, insane, zombie infested... who knows. The cards you're dealt must be contended with, and as you play you may find cards that you can play to change your fate when the time comes.

  • Dispel Rumors: There's been some confusion about Dragonhold, and I think it's important to address that. This game is not an MMO, and it's not PVP -only. We have a PVP mode, but you play it if you want to, it's 100% up to you. Dragonhold can be played solo, or with friends in CO-OP PVE. We've spent a lot of time making sure players can enjoy this game by themselves if they want, so engaging in any kind of multiplayer is entirely up to you.
