DD#207 The Bearer of the Word

Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you could spread your customized faith to every corner of the world, gaining followers and influence?
During this week's update, this is starting to come true. You can now convince random citizens in Liu to follow your faith. By passing a persuasion check, maybe you can let them reconsider their beliefs and learn the one truth that is your faith. There are many facts that can affect the difficulty of this persuasion skill check, such as the complicity of your faith and if they like you enough. Of course, a tenet like the "Word Bearer" can reduce the difficulty by about 30%.
In many religions, spreading the faith is a way to show your dedication and, in general, a good thing to do as you are trying to save other people's souls. Thus, you can now also find many of those belief cores that allow you to gain devotion by converting more people to your faith. But not all centers of belief have this feature, such as a certain elitism, one that prefers you to keep the truth to very few best people like you in the world while trying to rule the majority of talentless people from the shadow. However, a faith core is not everything. Some tenets can adjust this. Such as, once again, the Word Bearer tenet can allow you to gain devotion by converting others no matter what faith core is on your customized faith.
Things can be even more fun from here. You can even try to convince those Aten Cultists that your cult is better than theirs!

Of course, the Aten Cult as an organization will not be happy that you steal their followers.
However, from a game design perspective of view, if a feature you cannot see from the UI, it's not a feature at all. Thus, a relatively basic UI was also added to the game just so that you can see how far your efforts have been achieved.

Yes, there will be different effects in the future depending on your faith system and how much influence it has in a certain location.
That concludes the first part of this developer's diary.
Meanwhile, this week, we also received many other content updates, in addition to the feature of spreading all kinds of strange faiths for people to follow.
The "Family Honor" quest has been completed.

Two more endings, in addition to the one from last week, just arrived, giving this story three totally different endings. Sometimes, it may be easier to maintain a lie that people believe in than convince them to accept an ugly reality. That's also why many secret organizations prefer to keep the majority of the normal world in a blessed ignorance, isn't it?
More creatures appeared.
Are the outskirts of Hottle too peaceful, with only very cute animals?
Well, let's change this. Now we get more aggressive wild lives such as Boars.


You can turn them into your pets. You can butcher them for meat. You can take them for a walk and see them poop around. Basically, everything your other animal-type pets have, they have them too. This is also a part of efforts to restore the biodiversity in the Nise Federation. It shall not be a merely ancient memory from that Stone Age that we had so many interesting creatures all around those islands.
What about urban environments?
Have you ever considered that maybe your cleaning bots in your house are secretly plotting to murder you when they are recharging? Maybe not the normal ones. But, well, we live in a supernatural world where everything can be real.

Maybe there are just some bugs in their program. Maybe their AI somehow concludes that human beings are unclean and should be purged from this planet. Anyway, all of a sudden, those bots may decide it's a good idea to mop the floor of your group.
Fun fact: I got this idea from Street Fighter 6. But don't worry, fridges are not going to join those cleaning bots to murder you, at least for this week.
