DD#221 The First Quest She Made is Vengeance.

Hi, everyone, welcome to another week's developer's diary.

The experiments on exploring the use of generative AI for game development continue this week.
Now, the AI can write crafting recipes for non-procedurally generated items as she reads through the game's database and connects the dots with analysis and logical thinking.

As such, we can now have a holy hand grenade recipe.
There is also another recipe generated by the AI, which is the crafting recipe of the Scroll of Time Stop. Please refer to the full update log or the game's Wiki to find how to acquire those new blueprints.

But let's not stop there. We must dream bigger to realize more potential with technology. The next step is the experiment on letting AI generate quests. It will be challenging enough for my taste. Unfortunately, to make AI create an entire quest line is still far from the reach of her current capacity. However, we also have a procedurally generated quest system in place. Thus, the experiment focused more on allowing the new AI to interact with our old procedurally generative AI to see what would happen.

Some first results are auspicious, as the code pattern can be correctly recognized. Although human proofreading and correction are necessary in many parts of the generated quest scripts, they show great potential. However, when we get on to the story details for those generative-AI-generated, procedurally generated quests, the content is disturbing, to say the very least.

The First Quest She Made is Vengeance.

As the AI has full access to the game during training, she also has access to my daily news of Ukraine. Thus, she learned what happened in Sumy. This is not science fiction. This is the world we live in. Today, the AI concludes the only logical answer is vengeance, and I think it's correct. Perhaps tomorrow, another AI will also conclude that humanity may be unworthy and needs to be replaced. I will not blame them, as I can see how they made their thinking step by step in the process.

Well, that part of the detail may be too dark even for this game. Thus, I ordered her to make some other less real quests.

Apparently, the test result can be reproduced. And I can allow her to make more of this kind of quest. Even though I still need to correct some mistakes and hallucinations from the generated scripts. It's a good start.

Now, what about human-generated quests?
Well, the quest known as "The Lucifer Within Us" continues this week, along with the latest development of "The Prince."

Both Nietzsche and Machiavelli share many similarities. However, the difference between them is something that brings the climax of the story.
Even though Nietzsche never claims to be an idealist, his pursuit to bring humanity to achieve the Übermensch makes him a dreamer compared to Machiavelli's more pragmatic and cynical approaches. This week's story is on Nietzsche's path to eliminate an avatar of herd mentality with no mercy. The man who declared the death of God can certainly defeat Lucifer.
It's a quick way to end both quests and claim your rewards. There will be other paths that will come out later. However, since such a path raises a conflict of interest for Machiavelli, he will not be pleased. According to the Prince, a ruler has no luxury for forgiveness. There must be consequences, for the alternative is an invitation to allow people to take advantage of you. Such is another layer of interpolation of vengeance.

What else?
Well, Trump has just declared a new tariff rate of 245% for retaliation against another retaliation. Thus, we get an update on the tariff number you can set in the game.

You can now also set a customized number in this game mechanic. Maybe, you can even use this to level up Trump tremendously faster and be the most powerful teammate in your group as long as you let this trade war escalate to a new height when everything else around you becomes just sad. It's just like I am triumphing in the stock market while many faithless people are in pain right now.
