DD#259 The Northern Crusade Continues
Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.
This week, our journey in the North Peak continues.
But, before we jump headfirst into...
this again.
Let's take a look at some other pretty cool things, too.
Featuring:
A much better version of the Door Way system!
It's on the normal and boring side of the world. Nevertheless, traveling across it will be cooler than just selecting locations from a list. You can now actually see where you are going on a global map. (Except for the Safehouse, it's not in this world.) Each location now also has a short description to provide you with more background on the place you are venturing into.
Since in the upcoming Chapter 4, the main story will come back from those anomalous Nise islands to the normal side of the world. Such a system can help us cover more ground in this world. We could also include features to paint the map, like in those grand strategy games. (Yes, you can see me appear on Hearts of Iron 4's credits. So, in theory, if I can defeat my sloth demon, I can pretty much make one myself.) But let's not jump ahead of ourselves that much right now.
Consecrated Crucifix of Jesus Christ
It's a new furniture item. Because of the continuous growth of content across all Christian factions, we will naturally need that in churches and holy places. If you have any members of your group following any kind of Christian faith, you can have some additional interaction options.
Burn the Heretics!
I received some quite positive feedback from last week's developer diary. So, this shall actually be an optional faith tenet in the game for everyone to use. Of course, everyone can create their own version of faith in this game. Not everyone enjoys going around and burning heretics. But since some of us do, it shall be an option. The description is directly copied from old Spanish laws. Hundreds of years ago, when Spain was a highly religious Christian nation, it had some very badass moments to demonstrate their piety to God. For example, a conquistador claimed, "Only God can grant eternal life, not this pagan water!" and destroyed the Fountain of Youth. Alright, this example is fictional. But, it's very believable they could do that.
Now, let's get back to the Northern Crusade.
This week, the entire first floor of the North Peak is completed. More Biblical puzzles have been implemented.
It's, unfortunately, once again a time of War right now. And only in such a time, the gate will open.
Fun fact: it matches the Templar trailer of this game about 5 years ago.
In the Eastern Asian Lunar Calendar, this year is the Year of the Red Horse.
In the Bible, a red horseman is war.
Side note: Let’s thank President Trump for quickly executing a special legal operation in Venezuela this week. It shall be recorded in our history. Thus, Venezuelan Arepas are now served in a hotel. The life we are living will be the history of future generations. Therefore, when you interact with the tombstone raised in memory of Charlie Kirk, and with the posts that speak of the massacre of October 7, 2023, and of the invasion wrought by Putin upon Ukraine, you shall also receive a small amount of Dust of History. (A currency you can use to exchange items in a certain museum. ) This can be another legendary year to come, not because of the war, but because of how the world will be shaped by the faithful who shall overcome the difficulties and make hard decisions to accomplish great deeds.
On the second floor of the North Peak, that's where you will meet the garrison of the Holy Order of Eternal Staff. You will be greeted by one of their member. You will also meet their leader, who is in the middle of his prayer.
It's Psalms 23 for all the faithful who are in difficult situations. It's pretty much fit for their situation.
The first three lines are a powerful declaration where he faces his fellow brothers.
The remaining three lines are a prayer. Thus, he turns around and prays to the cross.
My badass super-not-cute Christian cousin is now my Bible advisor. Well, she is actually quite cute. I immensely enjoy her company while she is influencing me to add more Christian content here and there, which I'm happy to oblige. After all, she has more than 50 hours of playtime on record. I weigh her advice much more than some random guys who know nothing about this game, only to leave a negative review to tell me that my support for Charlie Krik and Israel is wrong, which I shall totally ignore from now on.
And that's for this week. Next week, development will likely focus on the second floor of North Peak. Very likely, we will have more types of enemies to defeat on this floor.

[The North Peak 2F] Thou mayest now enter the Garrison of the Eternal Staff; and when thou goest in for the first time, a brief tale shall be shown unto thee.
[Furniture] A new kind of bed hath been added.
[Shopping] Various sellers of common furnishings now offer this new manner of bed.
[The Eternal Staff Garrison] The barrack‑hall is now opened; and members of the Eternal Staff shall appear therein according to chance.
[The Eternal Staff Garrison] On the right side thou shalt behold diverse devices of craft, even a machine that printeth in three dimensions.
[Butterfly] Once thou hast entered the Garrison of the Eternal Staff but a single time, thou shalt be able to fly thither by teleportation from any place within the North Peak.

Two new functions have been fashioned, to set in order an array of portraits upon the left or upon the right of the screen.
