DD#265 The 60 Year Circle Starts Anew
Hi, everyone! Today, I summon you to witness the unfolding of a prophecy—a prophecy that echoes across a mighty 60-year cycle, shaping the fate of nations and the hearts of all who dare to listen.

You may ask: What is this momentous occasion?
According to the ancient Lunar Calendar, every 60 years marks the Year of the Red Horse—the Year of War. History bears witness that in every such year, conflict has erupted, shaking the world to its core. Yet, this is not merely a time of chaos, but of transformation—a crucible where those prepared seize destiny and drive humanity forward.
I believe many among us have not waited idly. We have forged ourselves in anticipation of this very moment.
Thus, this week, we got the Nian Beast of the Red Horse Year.
The name Gorazhuth, by design, is not entirely Chinese. Rather, it has some influence of nomadic culture, enhancing its meaning of freedom and raiding.
You can find his full lore in the Guide to Monster Hunting.
Unlike in traditional Chinese lore, in NEOLITHIC culture descended from our own history, Nian beasts of each year have their appearances match the year's Chinese Zodiac. As it is the Year of the Red Horse, the beast has the appearance of a red horse as well. In traditional Chinese lore, Nian Beasts fear the color red. However, here, as the beast himself is red, such a flaw has been overcome to bring war to this world. But other common traits of Nian Beasts remain. He hates loud noise, and he is always hungry. In the game, you can find Gorazhuth weak against sound elements while gaining additional healing when consuming food.
There is much more than just the beast himself.
He also appears in our in-game Tombstone card game as the first minion with both Charge and Taunt.
Meanwhile, various factions in China have been mobilized and received additional content accordingly. You can now exchange the Mark of Dragon for a Gorazhuth pet. However, in this week's updates, I am giving more content to another faction deep down in the Dark Alley. That is The No.4 Pawnshop.
There are many reasons:
1. From the main story perspective, previously in NEOLITHIC's main storyline, you can choose to let Harold make a deal with them to locate Zhang Yin's location. In such a path, eventually, the price must be paid. That makes them more involved in the final confrontation of Chapter 3 than many other Chinese factions. (Except the Red Dragon, but we will get there soon.)
2. Their Dark/Demon affiliation matches the turmoil that is coming this year.
3. I want to give you an easy way to acquire some demon books and demon pets without the need to go all the way to the North Peak or use the procedurally generated locations created by the Wonderland Travel Agency.
As such, here is the expansion of The No.4 Pawnshop
Put the souls of humanity on their scale. Pawn the souls to gain power beyond comprehension, for you have a war to fight and a destiny to shape! The end will justify your means as long as you believe in it. (Well, at least, Harold eventually will make such a choice if you push him this far.)
Of course, we are not going to let the seemingly evil side have all the fun content.
It's time to bring out the "Automated Defense" of the faithful.
They say the devil whispers corruption; no normal man can stand such contempt.
They say the majority of mankind is not strong enough to face the cruelty of this holy war.
Then, so be it, let those Mithril Golems animated under divine names be the guardians of the seal.
You can now have some of your own as well. They are very heavy tanks and immune to various negative effects. But on higher floors of the North Peak, such golems are ordered to eliminate any intruders without exception. They leave no chance to potential humans tempted by demons to unleash the evil sealed inside in this world again.
Thus, the saga marches forward—into the heart of the Year of War!
However, there is one more thing. About Ukraine.
As I remain highly productive in the chaos of Lunar New Year, I decide to move all content related to the 4th year of the war to its own developer's diary a bit later. On Feb. 24, we will have another diary dedicated to Ukraine, rather than having all that content crowded into this diary.
