DD#190 Day May Be Broken Again

Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.

Let's see what we got this week:
1, Aten Cult Hideout

This week, I made some progress in the main storyline. After tailing the elusive Aten Preacher back to their secretive hideout, you’ll discover a building teeming with hidden rooms and a vigilant guard at the main entrance of the central hall. Your approach to this guard can vary: will you deceive him into believing you’re a new cult recruit, or will you channel your inner action hero and force your way in?
Once inside the main hall, prepare for a showdown with the Aten Preacher. Like any classic villain, he won’t face you alone. Instead, he’ll send waves of brainwashed townsfolk, convinced that Aten, the Sun God, will aid them in their fight against machines. Here’s where your choices matter: will you show mercy to these misguided followers, or will you unleash your wrath in a Warhammer 40k inquisitor style to burn them all?
Your decisions will ripple through the game world, influencing your teammates’ reactions and altering how other factions perceive you. The fate of the cultists is in your hands—choose wisely.

2, Sun Spells

With the resurgence of the Aten Cult, a new array of spells has emerged. Previously, sun-related spells were lumped under fire or light categories. Now, they proudly stand alone with their unique tag: “Sun Spells.” While some may still carry fire or light elements, what truly sets them apart is their enhanced power when cast outdoors during the daytime, under the visible sun. These spells also pack an extra punch against vampires.
Each Sun Spell boasts its own special flair. Take Solar Flare, for instance—it’s devastatingly effective against machines. The Aten Cultists in Egypt have upgraded their spellbooks, replacing their old, generic spells with these potent new Sun Spells.
And here’s the exciting part for you: as you defeat those Aten Cultists, you’ll have the chance to loot rings that grant these powerful spells. Embrace the power of the sun and let it guide your path to victory!

3, And...Sun Bullets
Of course, we can’t let mages have all the fun. For those who prefer the thrill of firearms, we’ve introduced new pistol weapon modules that allow your pistols to fire UV rounds. These rounds benefit from any equipment or spell that enhances the power of the Sun, making them incredibly effective against vampires.

4, The Sheriff of Fjordr Has Arrived.
Previously, you encountered the ice-cold Sheriff of Fjordr during her heated argument with members of the Red Dragon. With the East Barricade incident now temporarily resolved, the crisis has been delayed, giving you a chance to regroup with her.

You can now find the sheriff in Fjordr’s administration building. Your first impression here is crucial—how you choose to interact with her will shape her perception of you and influence how the entire town views you.

5, So Comes New Quests
With the sheriff back at her station, a new mission board outside her office is now brimming with opportunities. These quests offer substantial rewards and a chance to strengthen your relationships with the local townsfolk and even the military.

The most pressing task is to repair and reinforce the town’s defenses. You’ll find a variety of procedurally generated jobs focused on this critical objective. And this is just the beginning—more types of missions will be introduced later, each offering new challenges and rewards.

That's for this week. However, the story is far from over. There are still many unanswered questions. Why is the Aten Cult in Fjordr so different from the one in Egypt? You’ll uncover the truth in next week’s update. And that’s not all—there will be even more loot to discover as you pursue the escaping preacher. [Aten Cultist Hideout]You can use Butterfly Wings to teleport out of this location.
