DD#219 To Govern, One Must Embrace the Unorthodox.

Hi, everyone, welcome to this week's unorthodox weekly developer's diary.

Usually, my developer's diary comes on Friday with the daily update content of that day.
However, this week, the diary comes with a dual daily update. You may be wondering why.
Now, here is the thing. Although the daily update schedule allows everyone to see my progress every day in a fully transparent manner. It's also a common practice in the game industry. Game companies usually have a daily build using automation tools such as Jenkins for various reasons. I think it's only fair for everyone to know our "early-access" game is evolving with no stopping along the way, so I am using a similar approach. It also helps to provide the latest news from Ukraine on a daily basis inside every game built to support their war efforts against the invasion, which has long become a motivation for me to update this game every day. Yet, such an approach also possesses some drawbacks. Many grand designs take much longer than a single day to accomplish. Sometimes, more code changes are required, and sometimes, more tests are needed. Unlike some other developers who choose to cut features before the deadline, I decided not to let such a daily deadline hold back the glory of NEOLITHIA with all the great features she deserves.

In this week's case, this new feature I was working on is "The Guide to Monster Hunting."

In our grand open-world game, there are a lot of supernatural and mundane creatures. Each of them deserves its own lore entry. Thus, it serves more or less like a bestiary in the game. The more you defeat your enemies, the more you will unlock more content in their entries, you will know their strengths and weaknesses, you will know what items they may drop, and you may know the stories behind them. That's not just about them being your enemy; thanks to our pet system, many of those enemies can be bound to your services and become your pets. Thus, you will also gain knowledge about what they are good at even before you actually turn them.
This entirely new game system has been established within 2 days, and five entries that cover all the zombies in Queensmouth have been input to test the system. There may still be some polish to do and a lot more entries to add. But I consider it totally worth to merge to daily updates into one to have this new feature.

Something you may expect Machiavelli to say, right?
Yes, the storyline of "The Prince" also received some updates as they are now interfering with the matters on the Floor of Religion, waiting for a moment to launch a decisive attack.

Meanwhile, continuing from last week's melee fanatic of rifleman, we now also get more types of bayonets. However, the bayonets for pistols and SMGs are a bit different than those for rifles. They will make pistols and SMGs to blade weapons instead of spears as they do to rifles after I did some study on Wikipedia. (Yes, everything is accurate according to history. It can even be more historically accurate than Assassin's Creed Shadows. :P)

However, everything mentioned above is still not the most exciting, the most unorthodox content of this week. They all seem mundane to things that can match the ambitions of NEOLITHIA that I mentioned a few days ago.

Well, that was April Fool's day.
Still, I got screenshots, ain't I? So, there were some experiments.
Because "Discovery requires experimentation!"
Here is what I discovered:

A new machine enemy has been added to the game with its unique AI combat strategy and item drop list. Still, it sounds mundane, right? I have been adding new creatures to the game all the time.
However, the catch is how this 3D model was made and how the toolchains are combined together to materialize it and implement it into the game. Consider it a test run before I bring all those ancient Stone Age creatures back to life once again. We live in an interesting time with new technology coming out every day beyond "normal" people's comprehension. There is no sin in using such technology, only ignorance in not doing so. We shall not chain ourselves to their arrogance.

After 20 years, this kingdom's ambition is still radiating over some people's technical conservation.

Today is a good day to announce something that is even underneath the facet of this secret game.

Rumor 1: There exists a [Neolithic]The Grand Open-World Strategy Game。

Oh well, having a strategy game hidden inside this game is not something new. But something already existed in SAPC++, but it was just not ported to [To the End]. You can play along or work with a group of randomly generated NPCs defending a farmhouse turn after turn, scavaging resources, and building defenses during the day while fighting off zombies during the night. Even to this day, this mini-game still exists in SAPC++ if you get it from Steam Workshop.
However, let's look into the future; the world will eventually end, and maybe in another time, the remnants of humanity will once again try to survive against more sinister supernatural threats that finally break the veil.

Rumor 2: What was, will be.

Maybe that Stone Age is long gone. Maybe we can never go back to that beautiful 2000s.
It almost feels like Eons have passed
But, with the development of technology, those creatures long lost may be revived in a new form.
