DD #43 The Veil and the Freedom to Edit All Maps

Hi everyone, welcome to another week's developer's diary.

There is a big gap between content updates during this week. That's because I decided to work on some time-consuming story content that involves making quite a few art assets. It's about a new character and the veil.

Actually, I'm not so sure about how to put it in the diary without spoiling it.
But, the story of the veil involves a long history of humanity with a diverse point between the world we live in and the world in the game. From the 19th century to World Wars. From the Cold War to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Eventually, it shall explain why the world looks like just it is right now.
A world with anime 2D people walking on the street in an anime-like environment while their more realistic version appears in battle. It's now officially part of the story.

Would any people born in such a world feel strange and inconsistent?
No, they would never have any chance to learn anything differently.
How the world really looks like is now a distant memory to the few of us who still remember.
It's the new "normal" resulting from an ambitious project involving multiple secret organizations.
Some consider it as salvation, others view it as a tool of enslavement.
Malicious entities are watching, they may even try to silence this dairy itself.
Thus, it has to be encoded from their eyes, for the text screaming for
"Jht Yeeqt Uaeemaad bf Shxfn."
It has to be encrypted in this way to avoid unwanted attention as they are out there watching everything. Her name is the key to revealing this chapter of this story.

A wise man once said,

Would it be too late now?

In addition to the mysterious story content mentioned above, we now also have the ability to edit any maps that exist in the game. Even though the consequence may be unknown and unstable. I still think everyone shall have the freedom to shape a world of their own.

During the next two weeks, I will be in a lot of traveling to solve multiple lawsuits all over China.
Thus, the development may slow down. However, I think I will still come back in time to talk about the release plan of this game into the Early Access and something I planned ahead of us.

Added a new story in the safehouse with a small cutscene. It has a higher priority trigger than the distress signal from Siberia. Thus, new players will get this story first.
After that, you can find a new NPC outside the safehouse with more story content.
A document about the veil has been added.
She can also teach magic skills. (The price is different from other instructors.)
Ice Seal is now available for players to learn.
The fireball learning price in "This Is a Bar" is increased.
Map modification happened in the area outside the safehouse.

Some friendly scavengers may appear in different locations in Queensmouth.
Possible locations: Ardham Hotel, Bob's Grocery, 97 Main Street
You can trade or attack them.
They always have scraps to sell while they may also have a small number of other crafting materials.
If multiple vampiric researchers are going after you, they may attack you all together in one single battle.
You may also take this to your advantage to clear multiple vampiric researchers in powerful AOE attacks.
Usually, a hostile NPC that has not detected you will not join forces with other hostile NPCs that have detected you.

It may increase the battle speed dramatically. But, it may also make the first-person shooting mode harder.

DD#42 More Characters, Blood Tainted Furniture, and More Aggressive Vampires

Hello, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.

It's another busy week in real life. However, the evolution of the game shall never stop.
As the game content keeps expanding, two more playable characters have been added to the game this week.

A thief/assassin and a military veteran.
The thief character already appears in some procedurally generated quests.
They shall provide more diversity to the game in some future content as well.

Although the quarantine sector of Site Demeter is under construction, some furniture that may be used there can already be purchased from the ghost vendor on the 2nd floor of Ardham Hotel, allowing anyone to make their pocket dimension a vampiric creepy place. Some of them also have the function of their normal counterparts. For example, if you don't mind all the blood, you can of course rest on a blood-tainted bed to recover.


However, that's not everything yet.
Now, let's go down to the ugly part that beneath all those happy and merry content.
A new mechanism has been added to the vampiric researchers in Site Demeter.
In short, if any of your group members is bleeding, those vampires will become very excited.
Their detection range will increase; they become faster and ruthless; they will try to approach your group as fast as they are driving by the everlasting thirsty.

Some well-placed barricades and booby traps can still stop them. Although it may be very satisfying to see them all get blown up, it may not be very efficient to place tons of booby traps and then cut yourself.
Thus, a new cheat code to get the map rid of all non-boss hostiles has been added for anyone who wants to live an easy and innocent normal life. After all, the game is meant to be played in a way you chose. :)

That's for this week.
The lawsuit that was scheduled for next Friday has been delayed. Thus, the developer's diary will likely continue as usual.
