Work in progress - Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

Welcome to our latest devlog update for Into The Darkness VR! We're excited to share our progress with you and showcase two new features that we are working on (so you will see rougher versions of the gifs).

The first feature we want to highlight is the advanced ability of one of our robots, which is capable of performing lightning-fast dodges and destroying bullets with its weapon. Fighting this robot will require strategic planning and quick reflexes, making for an intense gameplay experience.

Our second feature is the ice climbing system, which will be utilized in various stages throughout the game. Our mechanics are still a work in progress, but we've made great strides in creating a realistic and engaging experience. With the use of ice axes, players will need to climb their way to various locations (but put your concerns away, the whole game won't be about climbing).

As always, we're committed to improving our game every week, adding new elements and features to make Into The Darkness VR the best it can be. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for all your comments!

Development Update - Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

Welcome to another devlog! Today, we'll give you a quick update on the progress of Into the Darkness VR. Each of the team members is in the process of developing their big components and it's hard to show anything specific at the moment. We understand that the technical details of rebuilding the Unreal Engine to extract more performance may not be interesting (so we will not bore you with that), but we want to assure you that we're making every effort to create a game that uses the full potential of PCVR.

We've recorded a sneak peek of one of the game's rifles in action. The gif showcases the seamless reloading feature, where the magazine can be ejected and replaced with a smooth motion. Additionally, we've added more physical elements to the game by making each bullet a separate object that can land on your weapon. While we understand your eagerness to see gameplay footage, we're excited to share it with you soon. Keep an eye out as we gear up for the early access release of Into the Darkness VR in 2023.

Beyond graphics of Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

Welcome to another devlog! Today, we're excited to share some updates on the development of Into The Darkness VR. We're constantly improving the game, adding new passages, and enhancing the atmosphere of the location.

But our goal with Into The Darkness VR is not to create a tech demo that falls short in some way. The stunning graphics are just one aspect of what we're working on. We're also putting a lot of effort into creating realistic physics, advanced AI, and a deep, rich story. We want the game to be more than just a showcase of technology – we want it to be an immersive and engaging experience for players.

Deeper than graphics

The plot of Into The Darkness VR is almost finalized. While we don't want to give away too much, we can assure you that it won't be a simple, cliched story "robots bad, go kill." We've put a lot of thought and effort into the background and context of the game, and we're excited to share more details with you at a later date. For now, suffice it to say that we have prepared a deep, rich story that we think you will really enjoy.

One of the biggest challenges of VR gaming is creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for players. Ladders and climbing can be particularly frustrating, as they can lead to situations in which, for example, we’re already at the top and… we’re falling. That's why we've been working on improving the platforming elements in Into The Darkness VR. Our goal is to create a system that allows players to explore and collect hidden items without encountering frustrating obstacles.

As you may already know, Into The Darkness VR will feature full-body visibility for players. This means that you'll be able to see your entire body as you move through the game world. However, we don't want the physics in the game to be so exaggerated that they become annoying or tiring. We've designed the game to avoid situations where your leg might catch on an object and pull you off balance, so you can focus on enjoying the game without any frustrating distractions.

In addition to the other improvements we've been making, we've also been working on enhancing the AI in Into The Darkness VR. The drones in the game will be able to search for you and avoid obstacles, making combat more exciting and dynamic. Plus, the game's soundtrack will kick in during fights, adding to the excitement and energy of the action scenes.

Release Date Update Into The Darkness VR

Hey guys!

New release date

Time for another devlog! Today’s topic is the release date. The significant expansion of the project means that we are unable to release the game in 2022. We already have many finished elements, some need polishing, and some are in the process of development (for example, we are in contact with voice actors).

We also want you to understand what we are working on. Into The Darkness VR will offer a deep story. We want every character in the game to have an interesting personality and to tell their part of this complex story. We are also working on scenes that (we hope) will ensure that you will not forget about the game for a long time.

We have big plans for Into The Darkness VR, and just like you, can’t wait for the game. We know that these types of complex story-driven VR games do not come out too often, so everything has to be perfect. We hope you can play Into The Darkness VR in 2023.

In the meantime, we leave you with some new work-in-progress screenshots from the engine.
