Deep Sea Valentine News

Major Controller Update

Hey everyone, it's been a while, but Deep Sea Valentine finally received another update!

First things first: Yes, sorry, this DOES NOT work with your existing save files. But the good news is that you can switch to the "compatibility" branch under Properties -> Betas, in case you have any unfinished business. Let me know if you run into trouble!

So why did I do this? I'm glad you asked, because now it's time for good news only! All controls have been significantly improved:
 • You can now walk around using the mouse
 • Keyboard controls got mildly improved
 • Gamepad controls got a major overhaul & there's glyphs now!

All of the above are also being assisted by a much more helpful and intuitive "?" (controls) screen:
Full patch notes
• added mouse movement controls
 • improved controller and keyboard controls
 • added controller glyphs throughout the game
 • added a setting to manually change controller glyphs
 • outfit changes also change the pixel art now
 • added a pixel preview to the settings screen
 • the first dialogue option is no longer selected by default
 • added outlines to hovered text buttons
 • the name popup only occurs when the speaking character changes
 • fixed the side of the speaking character's name when not playing in English
 • it's now possible to advance the text by scrolling down
 • made the game less loud
 • made walls more obvious
 • added nicer transitions between screens
 • made the text fade in with an elegant dissolve
 • added speech pauses
 • and probably more!

I really appreciate the helpful feedback on this humble first game of mine, and I hope these improvements make Deep Sea Valentine an even more enjoyable and relaxing experience for all. On that note, an extra special shoutout goes out to funkydinosaurs for the detailed and constructive community post! I would not have braved this controller upgrade without them, and I just happened to pile on a couple of other QoL features while I was at it.

Thank you so much for your support!

Update 2.3

Just a small update that does exactly 2 things:

 • A popup appears whenever a choice affects the ending you'll get
 • Dialogue sprites will now look smooth in all resolutions

Thank you for your support!

Update 2.2

This patch contains minor fixes and improvements to the gamepad controls.

 • Flip between menus with the gamepad's left and right shoulders
 • Exit the game menu with the B button
 • Added borders to the currently hovered shortcut and gallery button (So it's more obvious which one is selected)
 • Fixed Triche's CG for real
 • Fixed position of the speaking character's name in the Russian version
 • Some typo fixes for the Russian version

Let me know if you spot anything else!

Thank you for your support, and remember to leave a review if you have the time!

Update 2.1

Hey everyone, the new update is finally here!

The biggest new features are the following:

 • Controller support. That's right, you can now play Deep Sea Valentine without using your mouse or keyboard!
 • Russian and German translations. Deep Sea Valentine can now be played in two additional languages!
 • Pixel sprites reflect characters' height differences. Feli, Triche, and Joru are appropriately tiny now!
 • Option to switch between looks. Prefer the casual outfits? You can now play with those during the main game!*
 • Improved appearance of the game menu. More sleek, simple, and easy to use!
*This only affects the full-body illustrations for now, without the pixel art. I'm hoping to include that in a future update.

The update also includes a few minor improvements:
 • Albica now follows you around in the cave
 • Fixed Triche's CG
 • Added tooltips for all settings
 • More save slots

Thank you for your patience, and I hope you'll enjoy the new features!
Please consider leaving a review if you do, it would help me a lot!

Controller Support & More Languages Coming Soon!

Hey everyone!

A new update is planned for next month, finally providing the long-awaited controller support, and making the game available in two additional languages: Russian and German!
On top of that, the update will add many minor visual improvements.
For example, the characters' pixel art will reflect their height differences:

I hope you'll look forward to it!

But, as usual, updates require me to give a word of warning:
Old save files will no longer work in the updated version of the game! Please make sure you're not stuck in the middle of a route when the update comes out, or you'll have to replay it from the beginning. (Unless you've already unlocked its shortcut.)

Thank you for your continued support!
