Attention, freelancers!

Based on feedback, testing, more feedback, and more testing, here is a quick balance patch for the game.

Basically, psionics are now a little more reliable. How they work is they cost a set amount of mettle, then a roll is made. If the roll succeeds, then their effects are applied - with certainty. The issue was that the fail chance for a few of them was high enough to be an issue and I thought I had reduced the fail chances a bit before, but apparently I did not or I did not lower them enough to be noticeable. Now, the maximum fail chance for any of them is 10%. This means that 1/10 times you use it, it will fail. This is done for balance and also to represent things happening in combat such as losing focus, combat stress, and so on. So, buffs now have a 5% fail chance (1/20 roll), healing still has the 10% chance, siphoning an enemy's mettle has a 10% instead of a 20% but costs 2 more mettle for balance, and the other attack powers have 10% instead of 15%. Psionics were never meant to be a part of the game, but I added them due to continued requests from the community, just please remember that I'm trying to balance them on top of a game that wasn't originally meant to have them, so I'm trying my best to make them fit in and feel fair.

Also in this update, escaping is a little harder now. I realized I overcorrected the escape chance thing a bit and made escaping combats (the ambushes and random event combats mainly) extremely easy. Even with the change from the last update or the one before where I reduced the base chance a bit, it was still very high. Most cases, you'd succeed on the first attempt - almost every time. Now, that's no longer the case. It may take a few attempts to work. Instead of a 35% chance by default and an additional 15% per attempt failed, it is now 20% chance by default and a 10% additional chance per failed attempt.

Changes & Additions:
  • Lowered the base chance for escaping combat by 10% (Further reduced from the last update based on extensive testing and feedback)
  • Reduced the extra chance added for each escape attempt from 15% to 10%
  • Reduced fail chance of all psionics by 5% (The attack/aggressive powers now have 10% instead of 15%, the buff powers have 5% instead of 10%, healing powers still have 10%, mind siphon is now at 10% instead of 20% but costs 2 more mettle)
