8/15/25 - Chaos Chain Update 1.78.0

[h2]BETA Update 1.78.0 Change Log:[/h2]

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED an issue related to the "Contamination" world modifier (Food items didn't heal the correct amount)
  • FIXED some text spacing issues in various dialogues


Changes & Additions:
  • Finished work on the "Turncoat" side quest (Can be started in the FSM Headquarters inside of Freight Haven --- has two different ways it can play out)
  • Added "Revenant" learnable talent (Costs 4 skill points, but makes you have awhopping 20% chance to survive fatal damage during combat --- if you have the military background, this triggers BEFORE your "Still Standing" ability, so you don't waste it)
  • Added some new unique dialogues with unique NPCs
  • Improved text formatting for some food items to better fit into the description windows
  • Added refined bread consumable (Extremely cheap, extremely low in stat benefits, but considered "healty" in game - so it gives you a 5% heal on use)
  • Differentiated the colors of the small, regular, and big backpack items so they are easier to tell apart
  • Added used up cigarettes and crushed soda cans to some of the litter graphics (Really completes the environment in my opinion - such a simple change too)
  • Added a new plot item
  • Added 10 new combat soundtracks
  • Basic/low grade medical items now have double the chance to spawn in random loot containers
  • Added 3 new random companion chatters for all companions (Two unique, one generic)
  • Slightly expanded all companion dialogues with some extra lines
  • Added a new paydata data type (Journal entries --- this also increases the chance of having the paydata be actually worth money since it's another type that pays)
  • Cleaned up some item icon art
  • Civic background now starts with 2x pep-up pills but 2 less consumable items (Nourishment)
  • Drug items are now colored in purple text
  • Dangerous food items are now colored in orange text
  • Updated the connected/disconnected images with some extra details
  • Updated several shop listings
  • Updated random container drop lists
  • Cleaned up some old/outdated database entries
  • Some various other minor tweaks and changes

Hot on the trail of yesterday's update, here is yet another update for the game. Check out the full change log below!

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED a typo in one of the contract side job interaction points ("Bug Tracking" contract)
  • FIXED an auto tile issue in Lamplight Market: Alley
  • FIXED Last Line not selling the new assault rifle


Changes & Additions:
  • Added new contract side job "Explosive Order" (A small, simple side job - just for an extra something to do and extra flavor for the game world)
  • Added new contract side job "Hazard Pay" (A really small, very simple side job - just for an extra something to do for some extra quick pay)
  • Updated random contract gain system with new the contracts
  • Added more detail to some exterior areas
  • A few other quick tweaks

7/30/25 - Chaos Chain Update 1.76.0

Here is the next update for the game. I'm releasing this a little early because I realized there were some bugs from the recent updates with changes I had made to some of the code, so here it is. Check out the full change log below!

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED a couple of bosses that were augged didn't have synergy stims in their drop lists (But they could use them in combat)
  • FIXED a few pieces of high tech equipment actually giving 5% resistance to interference instead of lowering it by 5% as intended
  • FIXED some shading around some environmental entities
  • FIXED a bug related to the main character dying with a companion in the group (Basically, it would remove some condition but the amount could be bugged depending on how much total condition the player had at the time of death)
  • FIXED an issue introduced in the last patch where the warning system would sometimes not work when a character was low on health or mettle
  • FIXED a text spacing issue in some information message windows related to downed/drained


Changes & Additions:
  • AR6C Bandit Assault Rifle now has its own named skills (Not Renegade AR30 skills)
  • Added rope misc loot item (Worth 12 CCred)
  • Added copper wiring misc loot item (Worth 5 CCred - these can be found, bought, dropped by enemies - especially robots/drones)
  • Added gang tag misc loot item (Mainly dropped by enemy gang members - worth 3 CCred by default - these will eventually be part of a repeatable quest)
  • Updated IED schematic to require 1 less scrap but now it requires 1 copper wiring
  • Updated pipe bomb schematic to no longer require circuitry but now requires 5 box nails (I was torn originally between having it be low tech or high tech in design regards but i like the idea of a low tech but effective grenade alternative)
  • Updated pipe bomb animation/sound effect
  • Added new item icon art
  • Updated randomized loot container lists
  • Updated some shop lists (Especially Rusty's Pawn Shop list - he now doesn't have quite so many junk items)
  • Updated some enemy loot drop lists
  • Updated a few interior areas with some new visual variety
  • Replaced the barrier that spawns after the Hounder attack on the Red Saint hideout to look more believable (It's now a trash heap instead of a road block)
  • Added Putrid Meat consumable item (A worse kind of rotten food, but feeds you a bit more)
  • Soulless, bat swarms, wild dogs, attack dogs, guard dogs, gutter rats, and scavvers now have a chance to drop putrid meat (With varying chances based on who/what they are)
  • Rotten Food and Putrid Meat are now marked in grey (Like how garbage is)
  • Continued (but not finished unforunately yet) work on a side quest (I'm going to try to finish this for next week finally - sorry for the delay, I've had a lot going on)
  • Finished work on a new boss enemy (Plot related)
  • Added a new enemy troop encounter (Boss, plot related)
  • Updated some litter/trash entity graphics with more detail
  • Added a new paydata type (Influential contact info)
  • Added 5 new randomized lore descriptions
  • Added rapid heartbeat sound effect to when the main character is revived from condition with another party member on the team
  • Added a flatline sound effect to the gameover screen
  • Improved detection of the main character in the party (Previously, it would take up to 1 second to detect if the main character was no longer present - this might not sound like a problem but it could cause weird situations from my testing - the game now ends immediately with a game over if the main character is removed from the party - you still have a chance to revive them if they die and are not yet removed)
  • Lots of other minor tweaks and changes

7/18/25 - Chaos Chain Update 1.75.0

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED a bug where text could be misaligned when the player character would mention the weather (It would not always be ON the character when transferring between areas - it is now set in the center of the screen because the camera should follow the player automatically)
  • FIXED a bug which caused FAILED attacks to show the "Missed" text in combat (I don't know how or when that got bugged as I know for a fact it was working in the past, so I will have to keep an eye on this as my fix may have inadvertantly messed something else up)


Changes & Additions:
  • Added "Back in Business" intro quest (Related to getting the comms chip to reach Prophet - your old fixer contact - and unlocking the contracts system --- I added this to help guide players towards this more as it definitely helps you earn more money/supplies/rep/etc, especially early game)
  • Added a new Steam Achievement
  • Reworded some strain popup text to be more clear on what is causing it (Augments)
  • Save files now will show date and time of which they are saved (Community request - old save files will still load just fine, but they will NOT show a date magically - you will need to save over them to get the date and time of the save to show up in game)
  • Added "Highly Skilled" world modifier (Community request - for players who want a more slow burn style game - your character and call companions receive 33% less experience, but gain 3 free skill points immediately to assign)
  • Increased default amount of world modifiers per difficulty level by 1 (There are a total of 20 now, so that gives A LOT of options for setting things up to your own taste)
  • Added more detail to some areas
  • Small balancing pass across some enemies (Mainly human enemies)
  • Added Armican AR6C Bandit (Compact assault rifle - shorter version of the AR30 Renegade - faster and lighter, but less accurate and has a harder time with critical shots)
  • Balanced some weapon weights (Mainly guns - most of them got slightly reduced in weight with a few exceptions where they got increased in weight)
  • Added an exclaimation mark to appear briefly over the player character when strain is suffered
  • Added a screen shake effect when a strain is suffered
  • Added a new crisis sound effect for when a strain is suffered (I think it fits PERFECTLY for what the strain is trying to convey)
  • Updated the strain image with a static skull
  • Updated some objective help text
  • Updated some plot item descriptions
  • Updated some skill text to be more specific/helpful
  • Added some new TV barks (Bits of stuff I heard on the news lately fits surprisingly well into this game - shocking)
  • Added a subtle fade out flash screen effect AFTER a strain is added (So now, it fades in through red and fades out through red)
  • Added several new randomized generic dialogues for a variety of NPCs in the game
  • Updated some item/equipment icon art
  • Added some new item/equipment icon art
  • Added some new randomized data item dialogues
  • Several minor tweaks and adjustments
