Introducing the First Feature-Packed Content Update

In this video, I will introduce the most exciting features of the first major content update for RAIDBORN. It will be available on 26th May 2023. For the full list of changes click here (available when the update is live).

Content Update #1 Delayed

The first major update is pretty massive, and it will take a little longer than expected to get it done. Most new features are implemented, but it takes time to test and balance them. Additionally, I have quite a long list of smaller issues and bugs I would like to get fixed with the update. For that reason, I am going to move the AI movement and combat overhaul to UPDATE 2 to keep things in scope. UPDATE 2 was pretty thin in comparison anyway. Check the roadmap for more info.

Below you will find a list of what is planned for UPDATE 1 in case you missed it:

Additions:

  • Special ability for each of the six enemy races
  • Armor system and destroyable shields for enemies
  • Possession system for the player
  • Rare equipment loot spawns
  • Ability to loot destroyed crystal hearts
  • New items and equipment


Improvements:

  • New loot spawning algorithm
  • Enemy movement and combat behavior improvements
  • Level generator improvements
  • (More varied enemy appearances?)

Content Update #1 Breakdown

Hello,

With the first patch and hotfix shipped, I will now begin to focus on the first major update on the roadmap. Below, you can find a detailed breakdown of what I have planned for the update. Keep in mind that I will add, remove, or alter features depending on how they turn out in the game.

This will be updated regulary so you can follow the progress of the update. It is scheduled for early May.

Additions:

Hotfix 2023.04.06 Now Live

When you are playing an existing save game, please note that due to the increased level XP gradient you need to make up the XP difference for all previous levels. Maybe I will come up with a better solution next time.

Small Hotfix for RAIDBORN is now live. Here is what changed:

Highlights:

  • Added volume option for ambience sounds
Balancing:

  • Slightly increased level XP gradient
  • Slightly reduced largest crystal heart health
  • Slightly increased cost for higher-level gear
Fixes:

  • Fixed numpad keybinding breaking the game
  • Fixed arrow gold cost
  • Slightly decreased player step height

First Patch 2023.04.05 Now Live

The first patch for RAIDBORN is now live. Here is what changed:

Highlights:

  • Added the option to continue after you completed the main quest
  • Removed the ability to sprint backwards
  • Implemented a system that prevents you from jumping on enemies and crystal hearts
  • Enemies can now better attack you when you stand above or below them
  • Improved the dungeon level selection algorithm
  • You now lose up to 30% of your level XP progress when you die
  • Heavy attack now only staggers blocking enemies
  • Replaced frame limit with new sync mode options in the display settings
  • Formerly unavailable keys can now be used for action rebinding (includes Numpad)
  • Added a loading screen hint that explains the auto save system


Balancing:

  • Reduced the potion spawn chance by 10%
  • Reduced the amount of loot in lower level dungeons and increased the amount in higher level dungeons
  • Changed the rage mode immortality skill, so it only prevents 50% of damage instead
  • Slightly reduced XP for killed enemies
  • Slightly increased heavy attack stamina cost
  • Slightly increased stamina regeneration delay


Fixes:

  • Unlock codes now reset properly when you restart the game
  • Fixed a bug that prevented arrows from being purchasable
  • Fixed a bug that increased adrenalin when hitting dead enemies
  • Fixed a bug that did not reset the player attributes correctly
  • Quitting now saves the game
  • Slightly increased the gamma range you can set in the options menu
  • Normalised crystal heart explosion sound and made him affected by the volume setting
  • Made slight improvements to the enemy stand up animation
  • Fixed a bug that unlocked slow motion with the first skill in the rogue mastery
