Introducing card upgrades

Hi there Dwellers!

We’re back with another update! This time we are excited to show you a major change that is currently in development. This change will heavily affect the Cards in the game. Besides the synergy overhaul that is currently in development, we will also be implementing a Card Upgrade System as requested by so many of you!

We believe a good Card Upgrade System should allow you to further customise your deck to better fit your current strategy. We are working on having a decent amount of cards that can be upgraded, and that will have a meaningfully different effect once upgraded compared to their standard, non-upgraded counterparts.

Last time we showed you the new map system, which will give us ample opportunity to sprinkle upgrade events throughout a floor. For an upgrade event to feel significant, the event should present you with a choice between upgrading a Card, and a different reward. We haven't figured out all the nitty gritty details of these alternative options yet, but we’re excited to have more customisation options for you during your runs, and we can’t wait for you to try this additional level of strategic choice.

As for what's next in Early Access, we are beyond eager to show you the biggest change yet in this game, but you will have to wait a little bit longer for that! Make sure you join us on Discord and follow us on Twitter if you want to be the first to know. All we can say right now is that this is something that was heavily requested, and you’ll want to stay tuned!

New Map System & Steam Tabletop Fest

Hi there Dwellers!

Last time we spoke about events, this week we’re talking about our new world representation. We’ve listened closely to all the feedback you’ve provided, and we’re excited to share what we have in store for you.

Let’s take a look at some of the mechanics that will be possible with the new map!

 • Exploration: One of the main areas we've received feedback in was map exploration. The new design allows us to create node maps that are not straightforward to explore. Imagine a short corridor with an event chamber at the end of it that is blocked by an enemy chamber, or a loot chamber that is visible from your current location but the actual path to it is unknown to you at the moment. Each floor will have a final chamber where you will be able to descend to the next floor below. You will have to find this chamber while fighting through the floor. You might happen to stumble upon a locked chamber, and you will have to find a key first. When and where to use these keys will add another layer of decision making.

 • Challenge and Reward: Those who want to explore the entirety of a floor can now do so. This will most likely be rewarded by not only extra loot and event possibilities, but also extra experience points for your heroes, but we’ll talk more about leveling up your heroes in a future post.

 • Tactical timing: Once you find an event chamber you can decide to use that event right away or come back to it later, adding This opens up a whole lot of interesting tactical decisions.

 • Secrets: While exploring the map there might be hidden passages or events that you will have to figure out how to reveal! Who knows what you’ll find!

The screenshot of the new map design does not show any “fog of war” obscuration, as this is something that’s still too early in development to show at this point, but please look forward to it.

Additionally, Deepest Chamber will be part of Steam Tabletop Fest! The game is 10% off until October 25th, so make sure to check it out if you have been waiting to pick it up or if you want to support us through our Early Access development process.

As always we're incredibly grateful for all the support you've been showing us on these Early Access updates, and we love hearing from you so make sure you join our Discord or reach out to us on Twitter, if you’ve got any feedback, questions, or suggestions.

New in-game events and Indie Cup Sale!

Hi there Dwellers!

We are once again back with an update on how things are progressing in Early Access! Last time we spoke about new enemies we’re adding, this week we’re focusing on in-game events.
In the future, there will be two types of events you can encounter throughout the game. These will be story events and random events.

Let’s talk about story events first. Story events can be grouped into two categories;
 • Main story
 • Class background

During a successful completion, you will encounter at least one main story event. Here’s an example of what we have in the works:

Here we see Ingward putting out torches. We know that he was a doctor before the magical dome appeared. Ever since the people of Dolmin were forced to live underground, he has devoted his life to helping others and curing any sicknesses that may arise. His purpose in putting out torches in unknown, but we should give him the benefit of the doubt that whatever he is doing is for the greater good. Would you greet Ingward, or leave him be?

Class background events will trigger after a specific level of the area has been conquered. In these events we will get to know the lives of our selected class a little bit better.

Random events will be sprinkled all throughout the updated map. You will be able to choose when to visit a random event node on the map. They will present a handful of meaningful choices which can alter the course of your run. Choosing when to partake in the available events will certainly be a tactical decision. These events will include background on the world of Deepest Chamber, and those invested in lore will find plenty of clues tying loose ends regarding the history together, similarly to Trinket lore.

Additionally, we're deeply honored that Deepest Chamber is part of The Indie Cup on Steam, an event highlighting some of the best indie games around, and will be 10% off until October 11th! Haven’t picked it up yet, or want to recommend it to a friend? Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

We’re grateful for all the support we received on our last update, and we love hearing from you, so make sure you join our Discord or reach out to us on Twitter, if you’ve got any feedback, questions, or suggestions.

Beware: New Enemies!
Hey there Dwellers!
Two weeks ago, we talked about all that’s new and upcoming to Deepest Chamber in Early Access. Today, we’re happy to share some of those things we spoke about!

As previously mentioned, one of the things we’re working on is new enemies. A highly requested type of enemy by the community was a non-humanoid creature. So we created not one, but two! Sewers without crocodiles aren’t really Sewers, right?
Today, we’re happy to introdoce our newest enemies:
We don't recommend trying to pet the crocodiles.

Another cute denizen of the Sewers is the giant blood-sucking mosquito. You will often find these critters in groups, even on the first floor when you’ve just entered the Sewers.

We are hard at work at creating and testing all the things we mentioned in the last update, such as the redesigned UI elements (thanks to your feedback). We can’t wait to share more with you soon!

As always, these updates couldn’t be made without our lovely community. We love talking to you, so make sure you join our Discord or reach out to us on Twitter, if you’ve got any feedback, questions, or suggestions.

Upcoming changes

Hi there Dwellers!

It’s been a few weeks since our last update, so we just wanted to sit down and have a little heart to heart with you regarding the current plans for the game, and what’s next in Early Access.

First of all, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who’ve played our game and left us feedback in the past month. Whether you’re a new player or you’ve been with us since day one, we appreciate you. All your feedback has given us a lot of direction and we’re hard at work at making the game the best it can be.

That being said, we’re currently working on a significant update to the game. We’ve used your feedback and taken a good look at the core gameplay, and will be making changes to this, as well as implementing more community requested features.
Here’s what you can expect:
• A new class system

 • Reworked card synergy to allow better and easier deckbuilding
 • Updated progression systems
 • New events
 • Elaborated story elements
 • New enemies

Once these features are nearing completion, they’ll appear first on our new BETA branch. When we’re ready for everyone to play it, you’ll be first to hear about it here on Steam. Stay tuned!

Once again, thank you for playing and your continuous feedback. This game is truly a product of love, and we’re grateful you’ve been sharing your thoughts with us. Want to talk to us directly? Make sure you join our Discord or reach out to us on Twitter .

Talk soon and much love,
