Inside Depth 6 News

Hello, friends. I hope you are all doing well today on this fine rainy day (here at least...)

I wanted to inform you all that Depth 6's name has been changed to Inside Depth 6.


The reason for this change is to avoid confusion between this game and another horror game called Depth.

As for the version 2.1.0 released on May 28, 2021, there were only very minor adjustments to the game's functionality:
[Adjustments] - Changed all instances of Depth 6 to Inside Depth 6, in game.
[Fixes] - Fixed a significant collision issue in Depth 5 which allowed players to exit the map.
[Addition] - Added a pretty cookie effect to the player flashlight.

Hello everybody, and happy Wednesday!

I wanted to let you all know that Inside Depth 6 version 2.0 is now available. With version 2 comes an entire new area to explore (Hell hole) which also offers as an alternative route to Depth 4. This serves very well for replayablility purposes, allowing you to take differing paths for each playthrough. Hell Hole offers approximately 8-10 min of new content and fright!

Here is a list of all changes and fixes completed in version 2.0 of Inside Depth 6:

- [New Content] - Hell Hole (Alternative route to Depth 4 at the bottom of Depth 3).
- [New Content] - Minor additions to existing game (Triggers and assets),
- [Update] - Unity Engine updated to version 2020.3.2.
- [Fixes] - Added multiple safeguards to prevent the very unlucky few from falling through the map. Safeguards will teleport player back into a certain area of their current depth.
- [Fixes] - Beginning date subtitles changed to reflect actual story timeline.
- [Fixes] - Removed the ability to climb up the Depth 3 world tree.
- [Fixes] - Fixed several instances where the player was able to get stuck in the map (Collisions).
- [Fixes] - Several textures have been increased in resolution.
- [Fixes] - Slightly decreased the player footstep volume.
- [Fixes] - Spelling and grammar errors.

Let me end this off by once again thanking you all for supporting this game and its development. I am very happy to see that many of you enjoy Inside Depth 6 and what is has to offer. As always, I will do my best to improve my craft, and create and even better game to come!

Have you ever wondered what Inside Depth 6 actually looks like from a distance? Well here you have it! a visual of Inside Depth 6; its size, and all of its glory.

You will also notice a new area called Hell Hole. This has not yet been released, and it also has not yet been fully developed, so its actual size will be a bit bigger than is currently shown in the picture.

When developing Inside Depth 6, I had one goal in mind. My goal was not to scare the player as much as possible, it was not to throw countless jump scares at you, rather, my goal was to create a journey for the player to experience. Every depth has a unique layout, differing assets, interactions, and even the stone on the walls are different to represent a descent to the lower realms of the earth's crust.

There are countless of indie horror games on the market right now which isolate the player in a single room, house, and environment to the point where adventure and journeying becomes non-existent. I am not saying this is a bad thing, rather, I was a little tired of it and wanted to try something completely new that I have never done before. And so, this is how Inside Depth 6 was born! Replayability was also a big concern for me. To combat this, I have added multiple routs to descend the mines, multiple endings, and now with Version 2's Hell Hole, there will be yet another path to take to bring you closer to the sixth depth. This approach creates a whole new experience when playing the game for a second or even a third time.

Of course, my next game, however, may go back to my traditional roots of scale because I feel that I can create a far more terrifying, immersive experience if I sacrifice some scale. Though, I can promise you that my next game will definitely be a new experience, to say the least.

As for Inside Depth 6's upcoming Version 2.0 update, I will be sure to post more information on this near the end of this month (April).

Also, if you have not played Suite 776 before and you would like to give it a shot, a bundle has been provided for both Suite 776 and Inside Depth 6. Talk about thrilling way to spend an evening :)
