Wander Stars 1.2.4 patch notes (10/11/2025)

[p]Hello, wanderers! [/p][p]We’ve got a ton of fixes and adjustments for the most recent patch. Thank you so much for your patience and for reporting any issues you might have encountered! [/p][p][/p][p]Bug fixes:
[/p]
  • [p]Changed the way the game closes itself when using \[EXIT] button in the main menu.[/p]
  • [p]Made adjustments to the saving method in order to avoid data corruption when closing the game under certain circumstances.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an additional issue in episode 5 ACT 1-2 that would cause a black screen and sometimes data wipes after closing the game.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with the final attack VFX against a boss fight triggering even if the boss was immune, resistant, evading, among others.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the pep up “One more thing” granting more than 1 word slot.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an enemy selection issue with mouse clicks in a episode 5 ACT 3 event battle.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a sequence break issue in episode 4 after clearing the "Trial of Boldness" battle.[/p]
  • [p]Added a failsafe for a normal battle softlock occurring in episode 2 in which combat UI would sometimes fail to load randomly.[/p]
  • [p]Added a failsafe for two separate reported softlocks of enemies repeating their attacks on a loop and killing the player in the process.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an event in EP2 ACT2 that was not inflicting damage after Ringo was struck by lighting.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue in the after credits scene of episode 10 when attempting to open the settings menu during the cutscene.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an UI issue in the map menus when switching from mouse to controller input and vice versa.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a combat softlock that would occur when enemies/bosses died by status effect damage (bleed, burn, shock) as soon as they used PASS.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a combat targeting issue with mouse input while fighting 3 or more enemies. Using multi-target words like WIDE would cause the last selected enemy to always be selected for attacking, regardless of which enemy was clicked.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue when using LULLABY against an enemy with an active counter. It no longer puts Ringo to sleep.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a softlock in episode 7 ACT 1-5 caused by clicking the space with the fleeing enemy. If the enemy was in an adjacent space to the player, the game would occasionally lock all inputs.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a visual bug with the challenge Darkdroids that would morph into a Roboto Arms.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the auto-scroll for attributes getting stuck when enemies had only 4 words in a column.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with the pep ups menu when switching from controller to mouse and returning to main menu. It would make the pep ups menu stay open on the main menu.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a UI issue while playing on a map with chaser enemies. If a chaser enemy caught the player while a map menu was open, it would persist in the battle and softlock it.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug with the mod word ONE that would not recover 1 turn of cooldown at all.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with the challenge mode button getting stuck after finishing a challenge episode.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a Steam Deck resolution issue with the background images of the episode select menu.[/p]
  • [p]Added a failsafe to a words menu issue caused by selling words in the store menu. This would cause the menu to get stuck and wouldn’t allow any other mod words to be added or removed.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted episode 6 normal mode boss attributes, and fixed the special barrier issue with immunities and the final attack VFX.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the price value of WAVE from 30 to 50 honor points in the level up menu.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with REFRESH not recovering turns of cooldown and also messing up other words' cooldowns.[/p]
  • [p]Boombots no longer explode infinitely if two of them are defeated at the same time.

[p]Hey there, wanderers! Here are the most recent fixes and adjustments for Wander Stars.
[/p][p]Bug fixes:
[/p]
  • [p]Several bugs in the words menu have been discovered and fixed. Thank you for reporting these in the past few days! If you discover any new issues, please let us know.[/p]
  • [p]Goal spaces no longer trigger the next cutscene automatically, it requires player input to activate. It is now possible to explore all maps without accidentally touching the goal space.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue in the player stats where it was possible to have the same word in different attributes.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an exploit with pep ups that grant additional resistances and immunities. The additional attributes no longer stay with you when unequipping the pep up.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an exploit when adding a 3 slot word with 3 available slots that weren’t adjacent. It would allow the player to add the big word and occupy 8 slots, which is more than the maximum limit of 7.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an exploit in the map store that would allow the player to infinitely sell duplicated words. It is no longer possible to sell words and items consecutively in the sell menu.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a rare instance of a softlock when dying against Wolfe in episode 1 and losing all stats and equipment gathered up to that point.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with exit spaces that would make the exit arrow disappear if the reward is accepted while the map navigation bar is active.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with the risky attribute being reset to balanced if the player used SAVE & QUIT in the pause menu.[/p]
  • [p]CLEAR and RANDOM buttons in the words menu for map/prepare menu no longer sound incredibly loud when pressed.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a softlock caused by dying of shock damage and using the ITEM word at the same time.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an animation error in EP5 SC5 of a character disappearing before the fade out.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the EP2 ACT2 event "Spirit procession” not inflicting damage in option B.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a typo in EP5 ACT2 event “Pirate merchant”.[/p]

  • [p]Adjusted base values, size and cooldowns for SPIRITED, SPIRITUAL, SPIRITIST, BOOT, BAT, MIGHTY, BOLD, INSTANT, and SWIFT.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted HP and breaking point range for Roboto Guards.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted EP1 normal and challenge bosses resistances.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted EP6 normal and challenge enemy resistances.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced “Breaking down” and “Broken down” pep up values.[/p]

Wander Stars 1.2.2 patch notes (09/22/2025)

[p]Hello wanderers, we hope you’re enjoying your adventure so far! We’ve received quite a few bug reports since launch so we would like to thank all of you for sharing your feedback, and for being so understanding and patient with us while we sort out these issues. Below is a list of the things that have been fixed for the latest patch:[/p][p]

  • [p]Fixed an issue in which Pep Ups bonus words would refuse to be removed even after using the clear button or closing and reopening the game. This also seemed to affect normal words from time to time. This solution is temporary and remains under observation, some remaining issues may continue. Please let us know if you find any additional problems related to word equipping.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue in the words menu with mouse input in which word text color would stay white, even after being clicked and equipped. This issue was not present with controller input.[/p]
  • [p]It is now possible to one shot the final boss in one turn without blocking progress. This also created an additional issue where player words would disappear after adding them to the slots array.[/p]
  • [p]Pause menu buttons have been adjusted to avoid confusion. \[MAIN MENU] is now \[SAVE & QUIT] and \[END EPISODE] has been moved down and changed to \[ABANDON RUN].[/p]
  • [p]The charge mechanic can only be used with attack actions now.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a softlock in the tutorial battle caused by pressing the end turn button and closing the pause menu at the same time.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a softlock that happens when defeating a boss while being hurt by the burn status effect with low HP.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a softlock in the items/discard menu when using a healing item while already having full HP. It is no longer possible to use healing items at full HP.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue in \[EP5] in which getting caught by guards for not making them fall asleep would duplicate Ringo’s map sprite after returning to the map. This issue had the potential of corrupting save files if the game was forcefully closed while it was saving when this occurred. If anybody else has any issues with their save files because of this or for any other reason, reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll restore it for you. [/p]
  • [p]Decreasing the frame rate in the settings menu would cause Treasure Get buttons to never spawn. This has been fixed and tested with all other available frame rates.[/p]
  • [p]Improved some cutout elements while playing on Steam Deck native resolution.[/p]

[/p][p]We decided to prioritize issues that were affecting normal play and softlocks. We still have more things we want to fix, but we wanted to upload a patch as soon as possible to fix the most pressing issues so you can keep enjoying your adventure with as few hiccups as possible. [/p][p]
