Devlog #9 - World, fighting

Hi Vampires!

At this point, we have a lot of stuff to polish. We have a bunch of almost-ready maps, but we are still developing the final graphical setup for the world - to make it as good as possible, loaded with the newest technology.

We prepare destructible objects, such as fences, gravestones, and crates. Our vampires will gain a slight amount of resources from every destroyed thing to make destruction more fun.

As you can see in the above gif, we slightly changed the fighting system. Previously, the player had to choose an enemy and pick the ability to attack - which was annoying in fast fights because of the necessity to click on the enemy accurately. Now players don't have to click on the enemies, just hold the skill key, aim with slow-mo, and release the key to cast the ability. Of course, it is much easier with slow-mo planning mode.

Except for destroying objects, we are working on dismembering enemies.

Yeah, I know, too little blood, but it will change. We are working on particle effects to make everything more bloody.

In the last devlog I wrote that we are working on NPCs AI. We finished but are still working on their animations, UI, and some sneaking system upgrades. After we finish, I'll show you how it works.

I hope you like it. Tell us what you think about this update on our Discord channel. Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions.

Devlog #8 - Sneaking, AI

Hello Vampires!
In this devlog, I will show you our progress in exploring part of Vampire Clans.

We are converting a considerable part of the game to use final models and graphic setup, so a lot of stuff in the screenshots still needs to be prepared, be aware of that - in this devlog, we are showing the logical part of the game.

This is the map we are currently working on, which presents a sawmill where our vampires will hunt and do some quests.

We made a stealth system, which allows sneaking among enemies undetected and killing them from the shadows. Now everyone can pick the best playstyle for him; you can sneak with or without killing, or just go to the open fight and smash your enemies.
Enemies react to vampires' actions, such as running, killing, and casting skills by their hearing perception. Also, they can see vampires or dead bodies and react to that.

You can build a special room, which allows you to summon trained bats to help you in sneaking; they can, i.a., distract enemies, hide their bodies or blind them for a while.

Additionally, we are working on NPC's AI. Aside of fight (which is also upgraded), they can now patrol, raise the alarm, surrender, call for help, and make an investigation while they would be distracted by some noise or when they find a corpse. More information about AI will be available soon, we need to polish some behaviors.

Holidays Devlog #7 - Diplomacy, clinic, graphics

Hello everyone!

We've made significant progress on Vampire Clans and are excited to share some updates with you.

First of all, we are working on expanding the diplomacy system. Players will have access to the world map where Paris' vampire clans will be presented. From this map, there will be a possibility to send vampires to rob surrounding resource extraction sites such as sawmills, slaughterhouses, or funeral homes. If you don't want to be violent and you want to be a more diplomatic clan, you can buy resources or even take over those places with money what guarantees regular supply delivery.

We finished the Clinic mechanic which can help your clans stay undercover and gain some resources. Vampires can have now their own business, which allows them to obtain money from cured patients or blood, bones, and human meat from killed ones. There is also a possibility to enslave patients to gain workers easily. New patients will be coming every day, but only when the clinic will have a proper reputation, otherwise much fewer of them will appear. Reputation can be gained by curing people, but even in this way there will be a possibility of losing it - not every illness is the same and some of the patients can't be cured with old surgical tools by an unexperienced doctor - if you decide to try and the patient will die, you'll lose reputation, but when it'll work you will gain much more money and reputation. You can upgrade your clinic and specialize one of your vampires in medicine to increase the chances of successful cure your patients.

We are also making new 3D models for the game, you can see more by following our discord channel. We hope you like it.

We wish you a Happy Holidays, let the smile stay with you during this special time and the whole New Year. All the best!

Scream Fest - Halloween sneak peek

Hello Vampires! I present a small sneak peek of our work.

Currently, we are polishing clan management, making final models for the game, and finding the best lighting setup. For now, I can show you some new 3D models (without textures yet). Those models present the workshop with different levels.

How does it work? Each room you are able to build in the game can be upgraded to a higher level using research points and resources. With each level, you gain faster production and unlock better technology. You can see some of the workshops renders below.

Besides that, some of the rooms can be expanded by placing the same rooms next to them (with the same level). Their upgrades will be more expensive, but this room can fit more working slaves at the same time than two separate rooms.
More workers can produce more resources at the same time, so if your vampires have enough slaves and they don't want to drink them all, they can expand their clan faster.
Below, you can see the expanded room.

Wish you a scary Halloween.
And watch out for vampires, now they don't have to hide.

Devlog #6 - Upgrades and crafting

Hello Vampires! In this devlog, I want to show you how you can upgrade Vampires' base, craft items, and resources.

First, we improved the inventory and chests system to allow players to manage their resources in the base better. Also, now there is a warehouse on the base, where vampires can store and share all their resources.

We also added a crafting system that allows players to craft new items in various crafting stations. Now, to upgrade or build a room you need special resources which you can get in Paris streets or you can craft them in your base. To do so, you need to place a crafting station in one of your special crafting rooms (smithy, workshop, etc.), grab the required resources, and then send one of your servants to craft whatever you need. It takes time, but once you order the servant to work, he will be doing this as long as he runs out of resources. During this time you can do whatever you want, e.g. send your vampires to hunt some fresh blood. Everyone in your base can work on their own.

I mentioned crafting stations before - those are upgrades that you can build within the rooms. Every room has its own set of available upgrades and there could be more of them than space in the room (so you may need more rooms of the same type, or expand the existing one). Every crafting station unlocks new items to craft, they are necessary to expand your clan!
