DevBlog #3 - Are we alive?
Greetings all, Crucial Experiment returns from its cosy greenhouse to the world!

That day has come, the whole team is back together, which means it's time to get down to making the game, and we even have a story to tell you.

First we'd like to tell you a bit about the return of the game itself on Steam. Valve recently hid the game's page on June 25 due to the long absence of the main bundle, we talked to support and got the game back on Steam, but with the bundle itself. The game is now available for purchase, but we do not ask you to buy it now for full price, better wait for discounts, where we will make them from 70-90% (just in case there is a special section on the page itself with a warning), and yes who already has the game in the library should not buy it again.

Begin

A lot had to be reworked or rewritten, but we assure you it's worth it!
We decided to start creating the first demo of the game, removing everything unnecessary and adding what was needed.

This is roughly the schedule we have at the moment, the plan is to try to finish this part before the end of the summer, but it looks like we won't be able to do it all that quickly.

Scenario

Well, the game's scenario has changed a bit again, which was understandable, the game hasn't been touched or changed all year, but now, after a long hibernation, the story has even started to take on some of the outlines of a demo. Now every user who has the game can see what we're doing with the game itself, we try to update the game with every change in the story, giving players a chance to feel and tweak some things.

The scenario may be reworked a bunch of times, but most importantly, it will never change - the same train Mickey rode for a year across the fields, the same Veronica and Lera waiting for him at the station, or his father.

Design

We can talk about the game's design, new backgrounds, character sprites and more before the demo is even released.

A few examples of the new character designs we're trying to stick to (they're slightly different in the game due to size)

Also some concept backgrounds and locations that are under development

Alexander leaves his son and goes away

Draft version of the new menu

Draft version of the new station

As you can see, work on the design continues, which means the game is alive too!

Sound

The most stable item that has continued to develop all year, thanks to our compatriot for continuing to work with us! Since the post there have been many new tracks and new ideas for future tracks that are currently in development, here are some of them: title theme and main menu theme (for the demo)

The End

A huge thank you to everyone who continues to wait, follow and believe in us! We're very excited to be back in development and releasing new updates for you. We also recently brought back Durka Simulator to Steam, and it's now available for download too! They say there are even some updates coming out, maybe they'll finally release a second chapter?

We'd also appreciate it if you add the game to your wishlist and recommend it to your friends (or subscribe to the Crucial Experiment page on Steam).

That's all for now, you can find new concepts and some other news on our VK or Discord. Have a great summer holiday and the biggest discounts!
DevBlog #2 - Pineapple Truth
Hello everyone again, Crucial Experiment is in touch!

This time we have bad news for the players who are waiting for the game. No matter how painful it was for us, but due to the lack of team and strength, we cannot continue working on the game, so it was decided to temporarily freeze the project until better times. It seems that this break will be long.

But Crucial Experiments is not going to leave its business and, while gaining experience, will delight you with other indie games!

Thanks to everyone who followed the development of the game and for the great support. This is the end of our broadcast.
DevBlog #1 - The beginning of a new story
Hello, Crucial Experiment is back in touch and ready to tell you a little about the game and its development.

We will immediately touch on an important topic now and this is the war of Russia and Ukraine, the whole team of Crucial Experiment is against this war, and we want to say that there will be no hints in the game about wars between the countries of only two important companies that are located in a fictional city Russia, Live Corporation and Durka Corporation are powerful and fictional companies.

Now we want to tell you about changes in the price of the game from free to 9.99$. All players who already have it in the library will not need to buy it, but there is one limitation from Steam that you will not be able to receive trade cards and you will have to buy the game itself to get access to the cards.
Response from the Steam support service.
Now let's move on to the game development news.

Now, at the moment, the development of the game is temporarily suspended due to the war between Russia and Ukraine since our main artist (and the head of the composition of all artists) is in Ukraine and it is difficult for us to contact him somehow. You don't need to worry, soon everything will return to normal, and we will start working at full strength again!

The first point we have is the game scenario.
We have already said somewhere that the plot of the game will be connected with several anime, we will not list them, but we will name the main one Neon Genesis Evangelion. Perhaps you will ask why Evangelion? Perhaps you have watched this anime or heard about someone somewhere and know that she is in the genre of FUR and the main message of the anime is in the concept of herself. Our story is very similar to Evangelion and The End of Evangelion maybe in the future we will show you this somehow.

The new plot of the game will tell you about two large fictional Russian companies, Live Corporation and Durka Corporation each side has its own technologies, and each side wants to achieve its own in this world. One may want to take over the whole of Russia as a whole or destroy the whole world and make it perfect. Your goal while playing as Mickey is to prevent the seizure of the main office of Live Corporation or some important documents, Durka Corporation will try to somehow destroy you, your friends or your personal robot Gordeyu-014.
The second point is drawing backgrounds, characters and other details.
Recently we decided to make some backgrounds more lively, not just static, for example, a picture of a train (static) and a picture of the sky with the earth (dynamic and can move along the X axis), which gives our picture of the sky to move calmly and pretend as if it is alive. Such moments will make the immersion more vivid than just static backgrounds with text. There should be a lot of different movements on the stage so that you don't get bored reading just the text under some soundtrack or character theme.

Characters also continue to be developed, recently we have made 4 more new characters already by Durka Corporation, half of them will participate in battles with Live Corporation, and the other part will lead a special project. The drawing of characters will also remain in 2D style, but with improved graphics, and not with simple sticks (such as are in the build of the game from January 2022).
The third and final point is sounds and music.
Sounds in games are a very important part and we understand this, so we will try to record them ourselves or look for suitable options on the Internet. I will immediately answer about the voice acting of the game, we do not plan to do voice acting or large-scale translation of the game into other languages except Russian and English, there are several reasons, but the main one is that the game is still under development and there will be no voice acting or translation in general before its release.

Music is also very important for games to brighten up the silence with something positive or not so positive. We make our own music for the game so that later there will be no problems with copyrights or other problems towards the game developers. Here we will immediately say that the music during the testing of the game in the future may differ from the release.
In this news, we have not touched on programming or in the code as a whole, since there is almost nothing to say or show about it, but in the future we will still have something to show you. This is where our broadcast ends with the words “There is no war!”.
The future of the project

Good evening everyone Crucial Experiment is back on intergalactic communication!
After our last news we were able to find new employees and now we announce the continuation of work on the game! So far, the deadline for finishing work on the new first chapter is not known, but we will try to inform you about it in the near future. Now we will work out the game more carefully for you and add many new features. We have also temporarily removed the "Download Game" button on the store page.
Looks like this is the end... or not!?

Good evening, everyone!
Crucial Experiment is broadcasting something there again via some communication channels from Life Corporation.

Our team is too small to continue working on The Dark in both 2d and 3d, and we decided it was time to close the project again. We wanted to do something new for you, but two people are not enough to implement our plans... We apologize for everything we promised.

You may ask why we can't find new employees? We tried, but without success. The game was supposed to be a mix of Evangelion, Death Note, Darling in the FranXX, and Shiguan Dalirent, but it looks like you'll never know what happened next... But wait! What do we hear! Mickey and Mysterious don't want to leave you! They say if we find new employees, The Dark will develop further. Yeah... Trouble-trouble, chagrin.

Now you decide the fate of the game, will it have a future? Everything is in your hands, we need people like you!

We hope to return soon with new news... Possible :/
