Underwater Space devlog #03: Caves, Demo upcoming

Hello Aquanauts!

Here we are with a bunch of new stuff after being quiet for a while. Why so quiet? Because we were busy creating fundamental systems and functionalities of Underwater Space which is not very entertainable to show. Mostly programming things like better ship collisions, proper base building system, refining the inventory, and lately implementing the quest and dialogue system (very happy about it, see the top right corner of a screenshot below! ːsteamthumbsupː ). It means we are very close to have every fundamental pieces of the game ready.

But having all the systems go doesn't mean for the game development to be finished. We are constantly working on underwater world to be interesting place with many secrets to discover and mysteries about old world to be learned. Throughout the development we really shifted our focus towards exploration aspect of the game as this is what you guys want - to feel the unknown depths and a sense of checking out every corner to get familiar with the Earth of the future.

Caves

The most prominent example of exploration in Underwater Space are caves. At the beginning we thought that they should only be visited without a ship. Looking for an entrance and then diving into the water to fit between rocks feels very adventurous. And so rewarding when you finally get inside the cave! Just take a look at the screenshots and a gif animation below:

But what we discovered lately is that flying inside a very big caves using your ship is very VERY cool! We just cannot ommit that in our game. Once we figured out how to fit these giant caves into our world we knew that it is worth to put some more effort and time in the development and add some of them.

With all that being said - we are getting closer to releasing the game but we are not close enough to celebrate. However, we have something to announce to not leave you with no dates:

The demo comes to Steam this year! That's 100% sure.
