PlateUp! Chinese New Year update and lowest ever 34% discount

Hey Chefs,

We hope you are having a great 2023 so far, and that the New Year's resolutions are still going strong!

We are excited to announce the first of many updates to PlateUp! this year: the Chinese New Year update, which launches today with a historic 34% discount.

The Chinese New Year update introduces a new main dish in the form of Dumplings. Dumplings are a very popular and traditional Chinese New Year dish, which also come with the option of a host of side dishes including Mandarin Slices, Bamboo Shoots and Crispy Seaweed.

You will also notice that the restaurant is kitted out with lanterns and other traditional decorations for the holiday, as well as a new themed hat to get into the spirit.

Additionally, customers may leave you red envelopes as gifts. These envelopes will contain additional blueprints to make sure the year of the Rabbit brings prosperity - and an extra hop in your step.

We hope this festive and fun update will add a little spice to January!

There's never been a better time to get stuck into PlateUp! And if your friends are looking to pick up a copy, they might also like to know that PlateUp! is available with an additional discount in the new Yogscast Games Multiplayer Bundle alongside Golfie, the roguelike, deckbuilding, minigolf game which is celebrating its full launch from Early Access today!

Both games offer brilliant online multiplayer fun, so do check out the bundle today.

Chinese New Year Update Patch Notes

Features

- Lake map: Celebrate the new year with this scenic lakeside restaurant. This month's event map allows you to pick up multiple mains during your run, so you can impress your customers with a huge variety of dishes, including the new dishes, which are more likely to appear on the Lake map. Customers will show their gratitude by gifting you discounts on your appliances. Appliances on this map are all discounted and more likely to be upgrades.
- Decorations: Two seasonal decorations and three new wallpapers to celebrate the new year!
- New main: Dumplings: Dumplings are available for everyone to select during this event in the lobby, together with two new extras.
- New side: bamboo shoots: Collect these fresh from the ground and serve as an accompaniment to your meals.
- New starter: mandarin orange: Picked straight from your very own tree, these mandarins can be served as a refreshingly quick starter - ideal to counterbalance a heavy soup!
- More varieties: Stir fry has been upgraded with new varieties; you can now mix in bamboo shoots and mushrooms to give your customers all the choices in the world.
- You can now play your favourite seeds more easily than ever, with copy-paste support in text inputs (via ctrl-v)

Official PlateUp! Advanced Guide

Hello Chefs! It's the eve of Christmas, and whether or not you celebrate it today, tomorrow or celebrate something else entirely, we here at It's Happening and Yogscast Games wish you a fantastic winter holiday!

With the Holiday update now out for PlateUp! we hope you are having a great time with the new map and the additions we've thrown into the update too!

In this post, we hope to help you learn to set up complete automation systems, advanced research techniques and much more with these advanced tips & tricks.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Research Desks are considered Staple Appliances unless you own one. This means they're more likely to appear in your daily blueprint post and can't be rerolled unless you own one.

Putting a Research Desk inside your first Blueprint Cabinet means you'll have a much higher chance of getting another one the next day.

There are two main strategies associated with the research desk. Either turn your first Research Desk Blueprint into a Blueprint Desk and use it to lock in more Research Desk Blueprints, or turn it into a Copy Desk and throw out your Research Desk to increase your chances of getting another in the average post.

Try only to use the Booking Desk once you have a Blueprint Desk once you lock in your order since Blueprint Desks will cycle throughout the game day, and using the Booking Desk speeds up the day so that the Desk will cycle less.

There are appliances in the game that can automate almost any process, so play around with them until you figure out what works and doesn't.

Some processes are not automatable, but that's okay; if you have the extra hands, manual cooking or cleaning is faster and more space efficient than automation for some processes.

Some Mains are more straightforward to automate than others, which often correlates with the customer increase or decrease attached to the Main Card.

Taking extra Recipe Cards will require additional or more complex automation systems. However, taking Customer Cards can allow you to focus on automating as much as you can of the Main you start the game with.

Full automation is possible, but you must slowly work up to it. Start by automating one process at a time and gradually build up a system throughout the run.

With the Workshop just coming out of Beta, check out some mods created by community members that can make automation easier for when you're learning!
