Dev Diary #1 - Who are we?
The hardest thing about Deep Space? Sometimes you hear a creak or a snap in a random part of the ship, and the only person you have to blame is an engineer a million miles away. That and the constant barrage of alien lifeforms trying to rip you apart.
Good day, Orpheans!
Thank you for all your support throughout our recent update. We're so excited to finally bring Moros Protocol in 2025. There's so much to talk about while we build to the final version of the game... so, we plan to do weekly dev diaries every single Thursday! This means you'll get insights into development and leave suggestions to help us shape Moros Protocol into the deep space boomer shooter of your dreams.
Today, we're going to talk about the team behind the game, Pixel Reign.

The studio was founded in 2018, however, Nick Larin the founder has been working on games since 1999. Nick worked as developer for "Darkfall 2: The Unholy Wars". He then worked on many mobile games (most of them not online anymore). Pixel Reign started with the creation of a game named Robbie Swifthand. They collaborated with a Greek mobile studio to make Neonverse. After that, tons of mobile games again as B2B (dark times) while slowly starting the Darkverse project.

Darkverse was a personal project Nick worked on 2009-2011, A 2.5d spaceship game which was never finished. You can watch some footage from the original game here!

But the story and world were fleshed out, so the team decided to create a game in the same universe as a prologue to that game. That's how Darkverse: Rogue came to be, which is now Moros Protocol.
Moros Protocol started as a side project back in 2019, while the team were working on external projects to help sustain the studio. Around September 2022 we were able to focus more on the project and we slowly were fleshing out the version you saw last year. Now, with the help of Super Rare Originals, the team has grown!

When asked what he was most excited for players to jump into, Nick said this
"Personally I just love when people get to experience a world I created or worked on, and see how they approach everything in their own way. This is something you can only do in videogames, where you see others literally "live" through an experience you created."
We're so excited for Moros Protocol to release later this year! We look forward to seeing you next week for another Dev Diary!
Upcoming Playtests
We announced last week that we plan to have consistent playtests on the road to launch. Those will kick off very soon right here on Steam. We'll release a full schedule into our discord very soon (will update Steam later). Be sure to join our discord to get the latest updates on Steam Playtests and an easy place to leave feedback for the devs and find fellow Orpheans to get hype.
Thanks for reading! See you in the stars
