Upcoming Bug Fixes and Short Term Road Map

Hey folks!

Given how close we are to Part 2's release, we won't be pushing any further fixes live until Friday. That said, we've been hard at work on the back-end, and we'll have a few that ready to go live alongside the second half of the episode.

  • Aware of an issue where turning to Doctor Kelly in a worldstate where Reese is dead can still lead to a scene with him in his cell. This issue is fixed in the developer build, and it shouldn't negatively impact your save moving forward. No flags are changed from that encounter, you were just routed through the script incorrectly.
  • Choosing to say absolutely nothing during the one-on-one encounter with Tabitha is not working as intended at the moment, especially if she's hostile towards you. Expect a fix for this on Friday!
  • I don't think the game adequately signposts the effect the player's chosen attitude towards Tabitha has on her disposition in the encounter. Will be adding flavor text to the beginning of the scene keyed to your current attitude so this impact is more readily understood.
  • One of the accusation options in the solo Tabitha confrontation is getting a small buff.
  • With regards to the overall difficulty of a certain scene, we won't be nerfing Tabitha. The difficulty is roughly where we want it. It is supposed to be extremely hard to get her to break down, and there are many factors at play here on top of your relationship with her.
  • There are a few achievements that aren't quite triggering right, including Walk-in Clinic and There Was Never a ??? In Scarlet Hollow. These will be fixed on Friday, in addition to adding a handful of extra achievements to Part 1, and many, many more for Part 2.


We're also cleaning up assorted minor bug fixes, spelling mistakes, etc.

Episode 5 Part One is OUT NOW!

Hey everyone!

Episode 5 - Part One of Scarlet Hollow is live now on Steam, Itch and GOG.

This section of the episode contains about 210,000 words of branching content to explore, so while some single playthroughs might feel quite short, we encourage you to replay with different choices, characters, and builds to see how much things can change.

Your save at the end of Part One will carry into Part Two, as if it were the end of a typical episode. Part Two will be releasing next Friday, February 20th, at 10am Eastern.

This build should be relatively tight with regards to bugs, so we'll be slower than usual about patching while we continue to focus our efforts in making the second half of the episode perfect for next Friday. If you want to be a part of that process, you can become an alpha tester on Patreon, though at this point, I would just wait until next Friday so you can enjoy the rest of the episode bug-free!

A quick note: If you have a hard time launching the game and you have previously unpacked the game archive please manually delete the contents of your install folder and verify your installation on Steam.

Episode 5 Release Schedule Update (Now Releasing in Two Parts!)

Hey folks!

We’d like to provide a quick update to Scarlet Hollow Episode 5’s release. The art for the ending has taken a little bit longer than we’ve anticipated, so rather than rush out an unpolished version of the climax, and rather than delaying the entire episode, we’ve chosen to split it across two releases.

Part one of Episode 5 will still be releasing this Friday, February 13th, at 10am Eastern Time. Part two will be releasing next Friday, February 20th, at a time yet to be announced. (But likely 10am Eastern Time.)

The first part is still roughly the size of all of Episode 4, so there will be plenty to sink your teeth into while you wait for the finale.

Beyond allowing extra time for polish, this will probably wind up being a better way to engage with the episode as a community. The first half is full of twists and revelations, and we’ve had a wonderful time watching our testers chew on them with extra space to breathe. We can't wait to watch you all have the chance to theorize as well.
