Merry Christmas Colonists!
I hope you are all having a nice time with your family!

The next milestone, probably the biggest one, will be released in just a few days - 30th December as experimental branch. I prepared a list of remaining minor elements that are being added every day.

[h2]Cinematics[/h2]

The new plot is now part of the game.

[h2]Infinite resource stack option[/h2]
After initial feedback, a new system is in place!
Early Access compatibility mode allows you to restore infinite resource stacks, making crafting easier.



When the savegame from Early Access is loaded, the game asks if the compatibility mode should be automatically enabled. That helps with preserving the original machine setup and continuing crafting without reaching the inventory limit.

[h2]Discovered technology feedback[/h2]

Each newly discovered technology shows what new features have been discovered: tools, resources, and machines are specially marked.

1.0 experimental

Hello, Astro Colony explorers!

It's time to announce the release of the game. First, however, I'd like to invite you to open testing of the experimental version 1.0!

Below you can find all the information about what you can expect from the newest version and when it will be available. Yes, tests will be public, so you will be able to access them directly from the game!

[h2]New devices[/h2]


New devices are being added to the game. It makes the game longer, more exacting and adds new ways to interact and craft.

[h2]Mirroring buildings[/h2]

This is certainly the most requested feature. Along with rotating buildings and swapping gates, it offers enormous possibilities for designing and automating your colony.

[h2]New recipes design[/h2]

Recipes of all devices got reworked, so they have a new selection menu. The number of recipes got reduced to only one per machine unless it is upgraded so it can use 2-3 recipes.


To make things easier, related items for specific recipes are highlighted in the menu.

[h2]Devices efficiency[/h2]

Device efficiency can be improved during the game by upgrading the devices or feeding astronauts with food that provides work bonuses.

[h2]Inventories size changed[/h2]

Each device will get its own limit, so previously impossible factory designs will become possible.
The full carbon reactor won't accept more carbon ore, so it will be sent to another carbon reactor.

For players who love infinite inventories, the change will be optional.
This will also help with continuing a playthrough after loading a legacy savegame.

[h2]New Celestial Bodies[/h2]


After redesigning cosmic events, only one persistent celestial body was left—the black hole. 1.0 version is changing that, adding more generated celestial bodies. They all can be discovered using radars!

A supernova is a powerful and luminous explosion of a star. It provides iridium resources that are collected with specialized drones.
A neutron star is the gravitationally collapsed core of a massive supergiant star!
After building Stellarcracker, it generates neutronium plasma.

[h2]Story told with cinematics[/h2]

There are 3 new cinematics in place explaining the story. In addition, the old cinematic is also used when the first shuttle with astronauts arrives. ;)
[h2]New resources and technologies[/h2]

There are new resources and ways to obtain them. I hope that new technologies and rebalanced recipes will be a great improvement!

[h2]1.0 EXPERIMENTAL[/h2]
The experimental version is coming out on the 30th of DECEMBER.
1.0 playtests will be public, so expect another announcement with a "Beta Code" in December!

Also, I am worried that the number of players is now dropping, since there are no more updates before the game release. In the results, the number of reviews dropped, and the rating went drastically down - from 95% positive reviews in November to only 40% soon. ;/ Let's hope the situation for Astro Colony will improve! 🙏

Upcoming 1.0 Release

Hello, Astro Colony explorers!
As you all know, version 1.0 is currently being prepared so the game can be fully released at the end of the year! I would love to share with you the progress of the works.

[h2]New Celestial Bodies[/h2]

The new tutorial bot is coming to the game. It has a new look, animations, and interactions. There are new facial expressions and details to make it a more fitting sci-fi game.
The bot is not only part of the game but also cinematics that are pushing the story forward.

VALVES, SEPARATORS, INTELLIGENT HOTKEYS, MAP AUTOPILOT

Hey Colonists!

The game just received another big update with systems for better controlling electricity, water, gas, and signal flows. Valves and separators can create more sleek designs where cables/pipes can stay closer to each other. In addition, localization got refined with new intelligent hotkeys showing automatically rebound keys.

[h2]VALVES[/h2]

Valves are small devices that are taking exactly one grid cell and having 4 outlets (one on each side).
They are perfect to control networks:
  • electricity ⚡
  • water 💧
  • gas ☁️
These small devices are quite handy. They show state of the network, how much water is flowing, and can be quickly disabled just by pressing the interaction button F.
Each block can also be manipulated with signal deciders.

[h2]SEPARATORS[/h2]


Function category has received two new items:
  • separator wall
  • separator floor
They can be used just like a regular wall and floor (placed between blocks) but have a special function to separate cables, pipes, and transport tubes.

[h2]INTELLIGENT HOTKEYS[/h2]

The localization system of the game is now overhauled with new hotkey decorators for texts. It works very similarly to existing images, but it presents currently keybound actions. If the action binding changes, it automatically updates the hotkey.


The guidebook is now using rich texts with hotkeys. It utilizes the new system and shows all updated hotkeys.

[h2]MAP AUTOPILOT[/h2]

The feature was highly requested, so there it is! In the map view when autopilot technology is discovered there is a button allowing to use control panel of current station to navigate to any selected station, planet or celestial body.

[h2]GAME DISCOUNT[/h2]The game is currently on Sale and is offering the highest discount ever (50%). It's the perfect moment to grab the game and try it out or play it together with your friends!

Improvements and fixes update

Hey Astro Colonists!
It's time for the next small fixes and improvements update.



Please check the list below to find out what is new:

[h2]IMPROVEMENETS & FIXES[/h2]
  • Fixed the issue with invalid voxel volume calculation
  • Fixed issue where another cosmic event would start and interrupt others, causing that blackout effect that would never go away
  • Fixed issue that meteor rain projectile would go through some devices and blocks
  • Slightly improved syncing for multiplayer
  • New system for auto-syncing inventories of all players, in case there is a small data-mismatch
  • Improved water/gas/electricity numbers for client, so they are always accurate
  • Grappling spamming button is no longer possible
  • Savegames names are no longer CAPITAL only, showing the exact savegame name
  • Selection box, voxel box max size changed to 200x200x200
